Mattaes Phillipou might be worth a look by the sounds of things if Sheezle’s too much of a flight risk and we miss out on Wardlaw.

Jhye Clark looks a safe bet if you’re looking for a Andrew Brayshaw type, consistent foot soldier.

If we miss out on Broadbent for our 2nd and are still keen on a ruck, some in the know are rating 202cm West Adelaide’s Harry Barnett quite highly - some rate him the best ruck in this year’s draft pool.

Given it’s still only June I’m making several assumptions with the below but :

If Sheezel does develop into a clear 3rd best selection behind Wardlaw and Ashcroft and it becomes clear he’s a significant flight risk we could still turn that to our advantage should we finish 17th as I believe we will

We would have pick 3 and Essendon with pick 4 (currently) would then be in pole position to select Sheezel if we overlook him.

In that scenario we should approach Hawthorn (13th atm) for their pick 7 plus ??? for our pick 3 enabling them to get ahead of Essendon. I’d be chasing their 2nd round pick (25) as an absolute minimum but would like to see something else added in

Hes one of my fav players to watch this year, however he isn't a good ruck if that makes sense. I can see a club stumping up a late first round pick for him based on the athleticism and size, but is a bit timid around the contest and hit-outs are generally not decisive.

Baker out of contract. Does turn 25 next year but he could add some hardness to our backline in place of Rotham or Nelson. I think a second rounder could do the trick.

Baker Barrass Witho
Duggan Gov Cole

That would be a more than handy backline.

He's a great little player and super highly rated by the Tigers - they would play hardball but probably second rounder would do it. Not sure we can afford to offload a second rounder for a 25 year old though. Would love to slide him through to the PSD but doesnt happen nowadays (plus i doubt we will have the first pick)
Not happening, unfortunately. He's highly thought of at Richmond and loves the club. Reckon he'll be on a nice amount pay-wise with them on the way down as well.

Yeah, I’ve seen a couple of Tim English comparisons floating around.

Is Koen Sanchez the son of Miguel?

Id be happy at #37 to grab him as there's definitely a lot to work with, but its not like hes dominant in the air or in contests. I reckon there's a few options for rucks.
Broadbent & Barnett along with
Nick Madden (GWS academy)
Olivier Northam (Geelong Falcons) as an upgrade on Bailey Williams
Even some rookie options in my eyes from SA with Alex Van Wyk, Jonte Hunter Price.

I call bullshit, I spoke to his coach.
Of course there is a difference between what is written in an afl.com.au article and what is said behind the scenes. Is it just his ties to the community in Victoria? GWS would be spewing if it's true, they don't need to draft another pure mid and Shezzel was one of a few options for them.

Firmly believe if he continues coming on Essendon will want Tsatas and Hawks will want Sheezel. GWS and GC almost certain to go tall. If we want the next best rated small and an extra pick Adelaide or Assuming port stay where they are are great trade down options. Adelaide are probably happy with their current pick and will go tall as I see GWS jumping them. The only spanner here is if Neither Lemmey or Scully come along in the back half of the year we might not see anyone jumping on a KPF.

It really comes down to who is looking to trade up. Hawks would look most likely and i'd want both this year and next years first for pick 2 and 38/next years third.

I also see it as a guarantee if North finish last they will get an end of first round priority pick. Hewett would need to have a good second half of the year.

Ports second + 2023 hawks first would then be very tempting for Sydney for their 2 first rounders. 6,13,18,21 would get us a long way in this years draft. 6 Would likely get us Hewett, Clark, Broadbent and then whoever you rate as best available.

:thumbsu: Very good young footballer and Brayshaw is a good comparison.

I was told it was the whole family is completely tied in with the jewish community in melbourne

What would be the likely scenario if we selected Sheezel and he wanted to go home after 2 years?
PSD?
