Surely we don't grab another ruck in the MSD?

There are so many AFL grade rucks playing 2nd ruck at clubs that we could pinch. Vardy, Hickey x 2, Sinclair, Preuss, Martin, Witts, Ryder, Lycett, etc are examples of rucks trading clubs in last decade in search of greater opportunities.

1. Assess our KP forwards over 2022. If JWilliams looks like he'll make it, together with OAllen we're sweet. If not, Lemmey or Scully at pick 1 solves our spine for a decade.
2. Lets build our midfield from there on. We'll be getting top 5 picks for the next couple seasons, we don't need to panic draft a Wardlaw or Tsatas if their talent doesn't warrant the #1 pick.
3. If Jamieson & BWilliams don't come on, and NN retires in 2-3 years, we go to the trade table and bring in a ready made ruck, even if they're not Gawn/Grundy/NN quality.

I have been burnt so many times before getting attached to drafting a specific player... but I am a glutton for punishment.

All aboard the Culley banwagon!

I agree with the ruck scenario - we can get by with what we have for the rest of the season.

No way we know if Williams will make it or not by the end of this year. That may even take until 2024.

Take the best player, or trade the pick if that player isn't what we want (i.e. ruck or KPD). Regardless of whether it is a KPF or a mid I don't think we will panic draft.

Not sure Nic has 2-3 years left.

We are totally getting Florenca and that undersized non genuine Rck/FWD Teakle to join the other undersized non genuine backup rucks we have in Williams, Stenadica and Jamieson

Perhaps with all 4 of them getting 9 hitouts a game, we could add that together and have the same output of selecting an actual specialist ruckman.

Teakle’s 203cm? As is Strnadica?

Campaigners out here killing the vibe. You may be 100% correct but nothing is going to stop me getting my hopes up- all aboard the Culley train!! Him paired with Clark and we’ll have two mids 192cm+

Wait a second, two mids 192 plus? Welcome aboard Florenca lol

Agree on rucks - they are a jigsaw piece, not a top draft pick play. You wait until you get your mids and KPP's most sorted then get someone who has been developed by another club, is a No2 rucks, and wants a gig somewhere as the big dog.

But when you have top 2 pick - unless there is someone who is an incredible standout, you have to take a mid. Why? Because 80% of KPF's taken with a top 2 pick end up being duds. 50% of mids taken end up A grade, and 66% of them end up A+.

We will most certainly get top 2 this year. Next year, maybe top 2 but maybe top 5. The time to draft a KPF with a pick 4 - 10 will come. And I know KPF's take longer to develop, but if you draft a hand full of A+'ers, they're all going to have a window when they're all peaking.

Also, counting chickens doesn't work. We all think OA is the goods, and maybe Chesser will come on. But counting on Williams and Jamieson etc as if we already have certain positions sorted - it just doesn't work like that. We just need to get our heads down and draft well. If we draft well, the picture will become clearer and we can fill the jigsaw pieces once we know.

The other thing to remember is that it's likely to be 7-8 years before we're really challenging for a flag. Plenty of time to bring in talls along the way to support Allen. Right now, it's mids, mids, mids. Talls next draft.

Jordon Sweet - we had a crack at him last year, he re-signed for two years with the Bulldogs so he’s contracted for 2023 which is annoying, but he’s only played one game this year and his position in the pecking order isn’t going to get any better as Darcy develops.

Kieran Briggs - can’t get past Preuss and Flynn at GWS but worth a look, out of contract this year.

Kalin Lane - dunno how he’s going at Brisbane. Denmark lad, 205cm and not yet 21.

Well, 2 out of the 9 options have become a reality… 😅

I think we will take….

Florenca - This is a given obviously?

+

A Key forward prospect to provide insurance for Kennedy’s impending retirement (that ‘grumbly knee’ will finish him off within the next couple of months).

So….Derkson.

The melts here will be moderate but not extreme. Usual suspects to drop their bundle.

Oh and neither of them will amount to anything at AFL level.

do have the option to re-activate Cole if he can get up to speed and then take one pick into mid season draft. Told Teakle not on eagles radar atm - but has been interviewed by Port.
I mean, seriously, why the **** would we do this? Why would we not get a look at 2 draftees? Results this season don't matter.

We're. In. A. Rebuild.
