What's the bigfooty hive mind's thoughts on taking a key defender:straining: with our 1st pick in the ND? #2 behind north because I don't want the spoon and they're still worse than us even with 18 of our best 22 injured.

That's equivalent to saying the world is flat.....

Let me show you what most people can calculate in their head in millseconds. Let me break it down nice and slow:

Right, let's analise the data;

Out of the last 44 top 2 picks, 1 has been a KPD. These people who are recruiting heads of the 18 clubs are elite at what they do. What they say is, "Don't ever spend a top 2 pick on a KPD unless they are exceptional". Weitering won the u18s medal for best player. He was the best player.

Out of 25 midfielders (excluding the ones who are too new to be classified), 9 have ended up as A+ midfielders. A more than 33% chance of finding a player who is capable of helping your team be a top 4 midfield (because you simply can't do it without at least one A+ midfielders).

There's over a 50% chance of getting an A grade midfielder or better.

There's a 1 in 4 chance of getting a handy midfielder, and only a 1 in 6 chance of getting a dud.

Out of the 11 eligible KPFs, there's a 20% chance of getting an A+, a slightly less than 30% chance of getting an A grade or better, and a staggering 80% chance of getting a dud.

The idea that we should pick a KPD is absurd. It would also be foolish to pick a KPP. The numbers say midfielder.

If you win the toss and it's overcast and the pitch is green, consider bowling first. Then choose to bat".

** edit: potentially Scully is a dud. Many would have Ball as serviceable.

You know, I'm beginning to think the club wasn't telling the truth when they said February that Oscar's foot issue would only keep him out of training for a week

Also when they said Edwards would play WAFL minutes on the weekend just gone.

Played in a winning premiership team at some point. Thats a 15% success rate 😜

Say this upcoming draft is 2015 do we take Weitering as the best player?

Whoever we take in the MSD we should run an injury pool on. Site of injury and round injured.

It’s a good point, surprised Joyce wasn’t one of the players inactivated.

I’m convinced you are the pieman himself
I think anyone we pick up is probably hard up against it to last past this year . Saying that Florenca has this year exploded from being a tidy WAFL player to one of the best (admittedly only a handful of games played). A bit like when Tim Kelly got his ducks in a row 2017.

Doubt that. This is a strategic move for the future, not to go like for like.

Oh I'm not advocating for it, but our recruiters love choosing talls and now they have an excuse.
