Didn't realise the invited players for the last spot were on blocks of time, good stuff IMO.

It’s new and a great idea to have a better look at potential players..
It also gives a Good option to wait for the mid season draft and I have noticed that the SA v WA state game is played just prior to the mid season draft ..So state League players have a good platform to impress AFL clubs ..

It's "supposed" to give clubs a look at wild card type players who are risky but are worth giving a shot to impress in a limited amount of time. Like Stack.

It appeals to clubs given it's flexible and you can cut them after 6 months without any real obligations or commitment. Like Carlton did with Deluca.

Which is why Reid and Grey joining us in the SPP is just a head scratcher considering we got a good look at them week in week out at the Beagles for an entire year. Not sure what else we can see from them by letting them briefly train with us, if the club seriously doesn't know how limited Grey is by now they are blind.

If we had invited a youngster with big upside who surprisingly missed out on being drafted, like Darcy Chirgwin for example, it'd be a different story.

Interesting to see the reasoning behind Pickett not being at training the other day. weather he pulled the pin
Or Grey got his spot and was told not too come back.

Doubt we will ever see Grey pull on a wce Jersey, so it’s a meh pick from me

It’s Whether not weather ..

Kurt Mutimer signs with Casey Demons as has Rhai Arn Cox in a bid to re-ignite his AFL draft hopes after he missed out on being drafted after being cut from the WA 18s squad .....
Cox wouldve been worth a look at in this whole process.easily more talented than anyone we trialed

Well with regards to Pickett I ‘m also interested in what happened and weather he had a injury or couldn’t be f’ed going to training anymore.. Probably doesn’t matter anyway whether Wce give a explanation..

"On Thursday an Eagles source said the club had not officially ruled out Pickett, who completed a prescribed training block after finishing up with the Blues midway through last season"

Ugh 🚽

Dumbest list management decision we've made since Burrows and Gorter.

Can't say we weren't due 🤷‍♂️

Nothing but a jobs for the boys appointment. Did absolutely ZERO last season for the Beagles to suggest he's worthy of a spot on another AFL list.

Routinely in the Beagles worst handful of players on the ground. Can't knock his tenacity, but even Mcginnity looks classy in the WAFL compared to grey.

If Exxon, Brayshaw and Ainsworth cant crack a game with their WAFL output there is zero chance of Grey ever getting a look on what he produces.

If Pickett is fat and has disappeared, McKenzie had done his ACL, then its Reid every single day of the week before Grey.

Never should have been in the situation where those are our only options. Seriously got the blinkers on.

So much raw talent out there we could've brought in for a look, but instead we've not only wasted our time with Grey, but rewarded him with a list spot as well.

And to think we almost delisted Ah Chee and Brayshaw, they are so much better than this bloke it's not even funny.

Apparently 17 touches, 3 marks and 0.4 goals a game in the WAFL screams "pick me".

Not happy Jan 🤦‍♂️
I don't mind the decision to be honest.
Its easy for us keyboard warriors to have a go at the club from the outside. But I back the club in, as they would have way more of an idea of what Grey is capable of. he is obviously rated enough to give a second chance to.
In all the beagles games I watched, he wasn't used as a main midfielder, so his 17 touches a game is ok.
Its the last rookie spot for crying outloud. Have some faith

Plus we have been trying to Dedockerise the poor man.

It will be a list management type of decision. Gets Brady off the books for the Beagles. Hard trainer and a hard body at the WAFL level to keep the younger blokes aware of the effort required and stiffen up the mix so the kids don't get bullied out of it and have the chance to develop properly.

It's not exciting but it's probably a sound decision in the context that the 45th body is extremely unlikely to take the field at AFL level.

*insert plastic franchise sledge here*

Brady Grey a Tassie boy . He looks like Mons brother . Have to be related . This will reinforce the ability to keep Mon from looking southeast .

I would have much preferred that the Club kept the final list spot open at this stage and reassess the situation before the mid season draft.

That would have given the Club the option of drafting some kid that has come on leaps and bounds, or from oblivion, in a lower competition.

Now we wait and see which player that Richmond snaps up after they have patiently waited to see how the season progresses before filling their final spot.

Sydney Stack ................ Marlion Pickett .......... patience has been both rewarding and fruitful for the list managers at Punt Road.

My biggest issue with the selection is the timing of it ............ we are now out of the race to add an inform rising talent mid season.

If Grey was the best option mid season then so be it , I just scratch my head at our timing.
It's not like Grey was going anywhere and it was strike now, or miss out.
