That is exactly what I was going to say. You can't ignore it all. Plus being close to all the problems would have brought a bad culture to the club that they would not have wanted.
You can say its all crap and we should have backed ourselves in to turn him around, but the club and recruiters are the ones that make the decisions and they made the right one in my opinion. Same reason they didn't chase Harley Bennell.
It would have been a high probability we wouldn't have picked him to play in the seniors too
Precisely.

Let's not forget he's only played one season as well. A look at the SPP thread is a reminder of how bright starts can fade out quickly.

Can you point to anyone writing or saying (he had to get out of WA) that?
Or are you just paraphrasing someone on BF?

Originally you said Richmomd were lucky.
They weren't lucky, they picked up a gun for virtually nothing.
He was highly rated and we let him go for nix.

I love the club but believe we're too conservative and risk adverse.

I know he was in our backyard, but he was also an u18 AA that went undrafted by all 18 clubs. If rumors of his WA issues are true then I would put 15 clubs ahead of us and Freo in the queue of those who missed out. I'm still surprised none of them drafted him.

That said we seem to have somewhat learnt the lesson (albeit the reason for each player not being drafted is so variable it is hard to draw comparisons) as we took Mitch O'Neill this year. Highly rated youngster, overlooked by every other club for one reason or another.

I believe it was peter sumich who said it who was his u18s coach .
He said it after he went undrafted
I think Sumich also said the so called "issues" with Stack were exaggerated as he said there was a minor problem with being late to training but that was it and was also understandable given his personal situation at the time.

An under 18 All Australian with obvious talent was overlooked by every club in the ND and RD because he was late to training?

Yeah right.
From memory (which admittedly can be faulty these days) that's the point Sumich made. He couldn't understand why everyone thought there were major issues and recommended that he should be picked up. Maybe a bit like the Darling issue where everyone thought there were problems. Watching his games pre draft, I would have thought both the Eagles and Dockers should have jumped in. Anyway I don't know any more than you do.
