Im quite obviously responding to the part of your comment about the US buying up the supplies of that drug.

Feel free to live in total fear though lmfao
Fear of what?

Why would the US buy up supplies months ago?

Do a search for Remdesivir in the Part I thread and you will see in mid to late March it was recommended as a potential viral supressent drug and a couple of small trials had positive results in the next few weeks. Supposedly CDC boss Dr Fauci has some financial interest in the pharmacy company that makes it Gilead Sciences. No idea how accurate it is, but I guess a bit of panic set in when US became the epicentre of the pandemic.

8 healthcare workers at the Alfred hospital in Melbourne have tested positive. Hundreds of staff have been forced into quarantine for 14 days. It's the second outbreak at the hospital since this all started.

Just shows you how infectious this virus is. It finds a way despite the pre-cautions the hospital is taking.

According to today's press 1348 people have crossed into SA from Victoria since midnight Wednesday and only 222 of these have been required to self isolate. The remainder were essential travellers. That is well short of the thousands that the media were predicting early in the week.

How many truck drivers in that other 1,100?

i can unfortunately see this number growing into the 300’s during the week.
Yes, that's a strong chance. And worryingly, most of the recent new cases are community transmissions

The Chief Health Officer says that the state is currently battling about 100 outbreaks.

That is a good question. i am not sure what if any restrictions apply to commercial travellers. I assume they are only allowed to drive to designated points unload and back load then drive directly back to Victoria.

i am just relieved that SA has not had thousands of Victorians flooding into SA.

SA government:

Port - you are permitted to fly in and out of SA on day of game.

GWS - you are not permitted to fly in and out of SA on day of game because you may have COVID.

Port and GWS then play game of football on Gold Coast. If GWS have COVID, entire Port team now have COVID. Welcome back to SA tonight Port, no worries.

Honestly, this species deserves this virus.

Victoria has had 1263 cases in the past week with 1484 active cases and 120 cases of community transmission that cannot be traced. Fortunately there are only 16 cases in ICU but that has tripled in the past week. All this is way too many by Australian standards and Daniel Andrews is going to have to move Victoria to Stage 3 restrictions. He may even have to go further if the spread does not stop.

Daniel Andrews is trying desperately not to shut Victoria down. He has announced that schools in the hot spots will return to on line learning but that may not be enough. When does it reach the point when the whole of Melbourne is considered a hot spot and can Victoria or Australia afford to wait until it is?

They have said all along the existing lockdowns will take a week or two to have any effect. The cases being found now would have been infected before the lockdowns were in place. If things don't start dropping in another week then they might need to ramp it up

A confirmed case here, young idiot, hosted a party after he tested positive, and young stupid people, being young and stupid, all went, dozens and dozens. A hundred or so tests done that weekend and not one case came from it.

Bizarre.

I've heard of cases like that too. I think luck was on their side.

I know of one case where an infected couple went to a dinner party, and all of other couples present (about 10) contracted the virus. Long exposures in confined spaces increases the risk.

I am getting tested tomorrow as I have been really sick since yesterday. I am sure it is just a bad virus that has been exacerbated by my immunosuppressive medication. Just going to do the right thing.
Hope you are clear but glad you are having the test to be sure. You work at the coal face, don’t you?

Yes, though most likely caught this from the husband. I have psoriatic and take daily immunosuppressants, first real cold virus in over 2 years 😒
With the suggestion of some people experiencing cytokine storm, would being on immunosuppressants help you?

I had just cold symptoms ( runny nose, blocked sinuses) recently and my GP said no need to get tested, but I rang the covid19 helpline and they recommended I did.. Fortunately it really wasn’t that uncomfortable at all and came back negative 2 days later.

Police busted a busload of 6 Victorians who tried to cross the Queensland border illegally. The deliberate act cost each person $4,000. Got what they deserved.
