AFLW 2024 - Round 10 - Chat, game threads, injury lists, team lineups and more.
If you're looking to confirm a bias, Sky News was the place to go. The chief medical officer has explicitly stated that the protests were not a major concern, two of the cases work for the same retail store and authorities don't believe they picked it up from the protests, two others (one of which tested negative after first testing positive) are also not thought to have picked it up from the protests. All were wearing masks. No idea about the new one.
But yes, that caused double digit growth across the state for a week
The same low risk Primary schools that continue to be closed on the daily? lol
Alright sheep. Explain Connor McKenna ? False reading
Dan Andrews' response hasn't been significantly different to the rest of Australia, in some respects it was tougher, so people trying to blame him for mishandling this and somehow causing the new infections are just being partisan hacks. His biggest mistake was the grand prix debacle but that had no long-term effects.
The countries that have done the best out of Covid have been SMART not simply tough for a long time.
Go for it. People who get together in there 1000s for stupidity in the middle of a pandemic is just stupid. What are your thoughts on people spending an hour indoors at a restaurant?
Go for it. People who get together in there 1000s for stupidity in the middle of a pandemic is just stupid.
Which countries?
What have they done?
On what measure have they done better?
Oh I see you're back on the THIS IS A PANDEMIC bandwagon.
I could have sworn the other week you were on the EVERYTHING SHOULD BE OPEN bandwagon.
This is thought provoking
tweeter is not a fan of andrews (dan) and believes the reopening of golf courses has contributed directly. It flies in the face of what the say someone like Sam Newman has said. Sam is also anti Andrews.
Austria. New Zealand. All opened up SMARTLY after a relatively short shutdown. They didn't drag their heels for months and months like Victoria was doing.
Sorry, owen, but do you believe in the SCIENCE during a pandemic?
If yes, then what does the SCIENCE tell you about the risk of a mass gathering at a protest?
Victoria dragged it's heels, but has also seen a steady growth in active cases in the past week. What does this tell you?
NZ also has a smaller population than Melbourne, spread over a much wider area, and came out of a much stronger lockdown.
What's your argument here?
And on what measure have they done better?
I see you're unfamiliar with maryjames posting throughout this period.
My argument is that when you DRAG your re-opening for political purposes, and don't allow MINIMAL risk activities and ones that are for the good of the nation (schooling) to recommence and then at the SAME TIME allow mass gathering protests, then people LOSE respect for what you are telling them and abandon your guidelines of social distancing.
Does using CAPITALS somehow make your point more relevant?
Schools were open prior to the protests were they not?
Do you think perhaps looking at the overseas experience there was some evidence to suggest that trying to physically stop the protesters using police might not have ended well?
Why would it not have ended well?
Was this a consideration when WA jailed a man for seeing his girlfriend from quarantine?
Was it a consideration for Victoria oppressively fining a teenager on a driving lesson?
Can you tell me exactly what you believe the largely Indigenous crowd at the BLM protest would have done such that things would not have ended well?
How is it crazy?
He was dragging his feet on a slow and cautious re-opening of Victoria, including minimal risk options, like golfing or primary school attendance - therefore the out of control dictator, while your OTT term, is reasonable.
You missed the link of what happened two weeks ago - after not reopening minimal risk options, he then allowed protests of tens of thousands to proceed. So, again, while your OTT term, not dictating enough.
Bonkers stuff all round.
I'm not sure what point you're trying to make here other than OUTRAGE?
Posters are aware that almost every state had a Black Lives Matter rally. It's not the cause of the uptick and trying to pin it on that has people genuinely questioning your motives.
So you want teargas and rubber bullets to be used on protesters like in Hong Kong and the USA?
Do near-lefties not do this ?Do people eat shoulder to shoulder standing up with the restaurant packed?
I LOVE how far-lefties have to tie themselves in knots to DEFEND A MASS PROTEST OCCURING DURING A PANDEMIC!! (Jesus Christ, how ridiculous to even type that!) simply to argue with right-wingers.
Sooooo silly.

Is Far left the latest Uncle Rupert catch word ?
