How do people feel about their memberships and refunds if there is lock outs or cancelled games?

I have seen people positioning them selves to demand refunds on social media etc.

I wont be harassing the club for a refund if this eventually occurs.

I buy a membership to support the club first and foremost, the free GA admission is a bonus (I upgrade them half the time) and my financial suppirt will remain through this period.

It's not the club's fault.. I encourage other members to do the same. Last thing our club needs on top of everything else, is members harassing them for refunds.
I won't be asking for a refund Sh*T happens

I would imagine the people who have already bought tickets to individual games would be entitled to a refund without question.
But people with membership might be a different story. Even 3 game memberships would find it hard to get their money back because I feel sure there will still be 3 games available that will have crowds.

This is all that needs to be said about COVID19. Flatten the curve and the number of deaths in the elderly will be reduced. Dont go full Mad Max and start hogtying people to your bonnets. Do wash your hands you filthy animals.

What if I hog-tie the people to my bonnet because they didn't wash their hands? Just trying to find the line here.

There was a photo/video that I saw of a metal door to an apartment block in China being welded shut supposedly as a containment action. Not/true who knows

Also was told of a report that a person who broke confinement in North Korea was executed. Again not/true who knows, but both scenarios are conceivable in those regimes but will not happen here or the US. If that’s what it takes, we are worse off than China.

Can only wait and see and hope we flatten the curve so all who need it can get treatment.

On a different virus - frontline health workers are getting two different flu vaccines this year which cover a total of 9 strains. Normally only one vaccine and 4/5 strains.
First One in April then again in august. Aiming to keep them healthy enough to care for those that need it. By the end of this we’ll owe them a beer or two.
The show you are referring to was the ABC 4 corners show on the virus .
Went into the so called Wet markets in Asia, where they sell wild animals dead or alive for human consumption.
This is where they say the virus has jumped from animal to human, most probably by handling an infected animal.
There will be a lot of finger pointing after the dust has settled , to say the least.
The aftermath, including Hospital footage, Very alarming ,was my first reaction when I watched this program on you tube.
I don't believe everything I read or see on the news or tv shows , but some of the footage was alarming to what could happen here.
Make your own minds up.

I’ve paid and the money gone so I won’t be asking fir it back.

Hell, if I get to watch the games we win on tv it’ll be better value than going to the games was a few years ago.

Posted the same thing yesterday in the Memberships thread.

IMO, it will be really poor form if anyone demands refunds or other forms of compensation (e.g. merchandise, Kayo memberships (as quite a few have said on this very board, discounted future memberships etc.) given how hard the club will do it as a result of missing out on gate takings, merchandise, corporate sales lost etc.

No one could have expected this and I dare say in the future, we'll see 'force majeure' type clauses inserted into things as basic as footy memberships.

It is simply about doing the right thing to stop further spreading what can be a deadly virus. Yes chances are low that you die but why force the population to play russian roulette when by simply having good hygiene and some isolation measures could stop the game entirely. To me this is very similar to vaccination, you want all the population to do the right thing so everyone is protected.

We have already seen big sporting events and big public crowds cancelled, the world goes on. With how much travel the players do they will be at risk, and once 1 team gets it, you cant have them risking to spread it. If it spreads enough in the general population closing stadiums to protect players wouldnt be a horrible thing either.

My current concern is that we have ANZAC day coming up, a very large day of big crowds and many elderly people out and about.
And Easter where a lot of elderly gather in small poorly ventilated churches

Saw a funny meme yesterday saying something like

"300 people die from Corona virus and we lose our minds.... 30000 die from obesity every year and we make a new Doritos flavour"

We haven’t even had 300 cases in Aust yet have we?
Let alone deaths!

They will have spent big on merchandise based on last years performance and early membership sales. Might have use the same jerseys next year so they can off load this years supply.

Well Trump just instituted travel bans from Europe, except from the UK, to the USA as of Friday.
Funnily enough I think that works out better for Europe than the USA, given there seems to be more undetected spread in America.

Tom Hanks & his wife at Gold Coast hospital with Corona Virus. No word yet on the condition of Wilson. WIIILLLLSSSOOOOOOOONNN!!!!!

Assuming they've just flown in from the US.

Said it yesterday, but I honestly feel we will see the same thing happen with the AFL - this just pushes this point further.

Starting the season seems futile at this point.

Noooo it’s our era. Let them play in empty stadiums and make them live there till it’s over.

Bugger.

Well that escalated quickly.

Wonder if this Outbreak will be a catalyst for changes to health care in the US. A society is always at the mercy of infectious diseases and with so many people unable to afford health care it creates a breeding ground that supercharged infection rates.

Maybe if the Uber rich catch it from their household staff they’ll become more compassionate, even if that compassion is thinly veiled self interest.
