It won't and it's silly if it does.
For sure.

Expecting a huge spike in clusters in Aus over the next couple of weeks.

We had the chance to really contain what is going to happen here by taking a lesson from overseas but chose not to. GP support staff are going down and they still reckon they'll have it . If you ever needed to know that politicians are tone deaf this is Exhibit A.

If I can’t go to the Gabba to watch Lions v North I will just about go catatonic!
Hey if you spew up though you'll know its nor Coronavirus. Likely Wallaceitis.

So Italy has shut down all work and business, except for Grocery stores and Pharmacies.

They’ve closed the country and halted the economy.

Have they stopped all internal and international travel?

Funnily enough I think that works out better for Europe than the USA, given there seems to be more undetected spread in America.
The US response to this point has been consistent, complete failure: things are going to get much worse there, quickly.

Great to see that most of the new cases here continue to be from the US. Will continue to be a big problem I suspect.

And well sadly it's a disaster there and sadly going to kill so many people

I just can't believe how stupid some of the things that the CMO of Victoria said in that interview were.

Evidence in EVERY country shows that once the virus is in if you wait until you see instances of community contagion it's far too late.

Heaven help us . Is he under researched ,paid ,or just thick ??

This article on the affect of CV on remote communities is pretty chilling.

That’s the worst thing I’ve read/heard about in reference to this epidemic. It’s unacceptable and politicians of all types have failed these people over very long periods of time.

The only hope is to completely isolate these communities, which is unpalatable for lots of reasons, the least of which is it would essentially be equivalent to turning the communities in a 12-18month jails.

It’s just plain wrong.

There has been more money thrown at the Aboriginal issue than any other social issue in this country.

And yet the majority of indigenous people still have a miserable existence and their leaders agitate for more funds . Plus agitate on any other number of social issues.

Nothing works. It's becoming an increasingly shameful stain on our country , someone needs to come up with a better plan. To really help those who need it. Because no one in this country should live the way many of them do.

About 1100 hundred people died of the flu a few years ago in Australia. Can't be bothered to look up the actual stats but all you can. It was a worse year then usual. More used to die of the flu when I was back at Uni (ISTR, just made that up 'I seem to remember') so this coronavirus thing is not anywhere as dangerous as the flu on evidence up to now.

One thing for sure. If typhus or cholera hits our shores the stores will sell out of nasal tissues rather than poo paper!!!!!!

I plan to self medicate on Ruherglen Muscat

Ok here goes.

There were ~298,000 laboratory confirmed cases of the flu during last years official flu season, April 1st to October 6, in Australia.

There were 812 deaths from the flu during that period.

That is a mortality rate of 0.27 percent.

Link is on the second page for these figures.

We haven’t as yet had coronavirus run through our country.

Right now our State Governments are doing their very best to contain the virus to slow it down.

It will get loose eventually. I’ve no idea when (my guess is Easter), or how many people will contract the virus (not even going to try to guess).

There were more than twice as many new cases reported today in Australia than yesterday. From 12 to 28.

At the moment it appears the virus doubles in number every six days.

As for evidence.

Italy is by far the worst effected country outside of China.
Italy so far has a mortality rate of 6.64 percent from 12,462 cases. 827 dead.

South Korea is possibly a better example for us, as they instituted very effective containment measures very fast.
To date, South Korea has had 66 deaths from 7869 cases. That’s a mortality rate of 0.84 percent.

I don't see where we have instituted any containment measures at all . Quite the reverse ,we had the PM telling people to go to the footy.

And the moron in Vic wants to press ahead with the GP.

In a few weeks , probably less , that's going to look appalling .

I understand where you’re coming from.

At the moment, the majority of cases are from people who have recently traveled overseas, or had close contact with a known case.

There are over 3000 people in SEQ who are currently in isolation because they’ve had close contact with a known case.

That’s what I mean by the government is trying to contain the spread, by tracking as many close contacts as possible, and isolating those people.

Of course we have selfish pr!cks who decide to go party, while they wait for their results, instead of being responsible and following instructions.

We’re not a police state, so we aren’t locking up the close contacts, while we wait for their results. So what can you do?

I hope they charge him under the bio security act, even though that’s not what it was intended for.

The problem is the bureaucracy masked as science that says we need concrete "evidence" of something before we can take action on it - which you'll realise is not really science at all, its scientism. We need evidence of the car crash before we're allowed to put seatbelts on.

I wonder about the age of those dying. South Korea especially, and Italy are rapidly aging. Indeed with a few hundred years the last Korean will be born. Can their higher death rates be explained that way.

On a trip arpund Rome a few years ago someone told me the average age of someone from Rome, living in Rome was 60!!!!
