Alright champ, stick to what i know then - I know that the world economy is going to f***ed for a very long time because of the panic and hysteria. I also know first hand that the majority of people working in the health industry and public service have no idea about economics. Everyone is just concerned with the death toll. The economic fall out will destroy many, many more lives than the virus itself.

You're hysterical.

The economy hysterics have caused this debacle. If we shut down things earlier we wouldn't be in this position now. A hard lesson to have and one will soon understand.

Winter is coming and no dagger will kill it.

Hearing on SEN about half an hour ago that 'it looks like 16 minute quarters will absolutely stay moving forward when things are back to normal'.

Considering all everybody has wanted for years now is higher scoring football I am dumbfounded by this possibility since aside from a few close games everything this weekend has felt incomplete with the low scores being produced.

For the rest of this season only?

It's hard to stomach when you grew up on 90's footy

More than anything it’s sad that clubs, players, staff and AFL admin are putting in an extraordinary amount of work to get whatever games in they can and save clubs and the league and rather than be celebrated and acknowledged, people take potshots at them because ‘optics’ or ‘feel’ with minimal examination of facts or circumstances

I completely agree. But hey not to worry, it’s all going to be shutdown now. And for those so against playing, particularly those who support teams that aren’t in a reasonable financial position... they may not have a club after this but oh well 🤷‍♂️

We are all getting shut down and risk going to the wall not just AFL. If the thing can be shut down then a few months footy is back.
OR
Are you arguing this is overkill? In which case we should be able to attend? States are shutting their borders now. How can it realistically continue?
I was looking forward to the season as much as anyone and the pies window may now shut but the AFL is part of society not seperate from it.

The only way round two could go ahead is for the 10 teams in Victoria to play each other; then the two WA teams to play each other; the two SA, NSW and QLD teams to all play each other.

That way no one leaves their state.

But any rounds after that would be impossible.

They were all exhibition matches. Hard to believe a) people thought we would get anything resembling a season, and b) that some people are still trying to argue for it to continue.
Indictment on Gil and his insistence that there will be footy that Sam Newman is coming out of this as the beacon of reason.

If the AFL season cancellation is not happening what other reason is there to have a press conference in 2 hours.
