Or diabetes, cancer or any other immune disorder.

Either way, what makes these people matter less? "Healthy" people being complacent about spreading the virus could really put these vulnerable people at risk.

No doubt, which is why these unhealthy people should stay at home.

Sore throat and slight temperature here. It's not the virus.

The problem I see is:

1. It is highly contagious
2. A long incubation period
3. A 2 week recovery period at least (the 2nd week is considered the problem week)
3. lethal threat to people with co-morbidity (i.e. elderly).

If there is an outbreak at Club A and they play Club B (flag favs) in round 22, then what challanges is Club B facing?

Missing players for finals?

Infecting club C?

It is often those that need to go to the doctor and hospitals more though.

Question: Do you think the healthy population should take any measures, even if somewhat inconvenient, to help reduce the spread? For example, should a fit and healthy 25 year old who gets the virus but only has a sniffle avoid large gatherings or work from home if possible?

If s/he only has a sniffle then how do you know they have the virus?

Yes that is just courteous to the others in that large gathering as it is a contagious virus, like a cold so is selfish to those unaffected to attend regardless of age and health.

what I am saying is unaffected healthy people should go about their normal life free from the worry, because if they do contract it, it will only be a small inconvenience however elderly and unhealthy people should stay-indoors,its No different to the smog issues we had after the bush fires

People with Diabetes particularly type 1 are not unhealthy it's only if complications develop they are unhealthy I've had type 1 for 47 years and haven't had the flu for twenty years and no complications having said that I'm not going to the footy .

True. I suppose I'm using in the clinical sense of the term.

The more pressing issue is travel in aircraft.

Are players going to travel with a plane full of general public?

Every 2nd time I fly I end up with a sniffle. Same happens at work with colleagues travelling, they come back coughing.

So will players be happy flying around every 2nd week and then coming home to the wife and kids potentially with something? The players likely will be fine as they are super fit and only get a slight case, but what about their families?

If a player test positive that means 14 days quarantine, no training. So in reality they miss 3 weeks.

If one tests positive chances are more will. All of a sudden you have two or three players unavailable. They won't die but they won't be available either.

The Saints last year caught something flying into China and luckily had a bye round following, but that didn't mean 14 days quarantine. This will.

Already have accepted that mate. It's here and everyone will likely cop it in the next year or two. What has that got to do with this discussion? Nothing.

But if I do get it I won't be going to work, or visiting my parents or schools etc. I certainly won't treat it as a normal cold because it isn't a normal cold, especially to the elderly or sick. My parents who are in their 70's get normal cold's once or twice a year, if they caught Cov19 chances are they would struggle and badly.

If this is just another 'normal everyday cold' and we shouldn't worry about it why is the world so concerned? Why the travel bans, why has China closed down its economy and lost billions?
Two years is a long time. Would be very surprised if there isn’t a vaccine out by then.

Far out talk about fear mongering. Think of a worse case scenario and speak like it’s a certainty.

Did you buy 200 rolls of toilet paper to prepare?

Are you talking about interstate travel within Australia?

The players will be fine mate. People need to settle down.

I agree i think everyone will eventually get it, especially as we move into winter and the historical flu season, only thing a healthy person needs to be concerned with is ensuring they have enough sick leave to cover the 14 day isolation period.

The economy is going to be smashed, we will have GFC type job losses.. This is just a given with the Chinese economy basically shut down. Tourism sector is in trouble, although more Aussies will just travel at home rather than go to Europe or SE Asia and the education sector which has ridden the gravy train of foreign students will need to adapt.
If we concede everyone will get it why bother with the incubation period

Interesting conversation on 3AW now, Healy is very strong on it and the possibilities of it effecting AFL clubs and the season.

if anyone from within an AFL club contracts it, the whole club would be quarantined for 14 days so obviously couldn’t play.. Interesting perspective.

That's not a worse case scenario champ. Far from it.

They are saying a vaccine within 12 months would be quick. Do you think that as soon as they develop a vaccine then the next day everything is back to normal?

You do realise that it takes time to develop, produce and then actually distribute and vacinate millions actually billions of people.

It's not fear mongering it's thinking what is likely to cccur and how the vulnerable members of society will need to live until a vaccine is available.

Obviously you are young and fit so you don't really care too much. Good for you.

Season will either not make it to the end or we will see a shortened H&A season to fast-track GF.

First thing will be crowds being shut out from games which I expect will be in action before the first quarter of the season.

Virus won't kill any players as they are all young, fit and healthy, but the AFL's duty of care as an employer will mandate that any player who has it will have to miss weeks as well as likely large parts of the playing group - just from one positive; because if a player died from it and it was contestable that a previous player's positive contributed to a player's receiving it, and death, there would be hell to pay.

Player's who are on the same team as someone who is positive for it wouldn't even be legally allowed to play in front of a crowd in the event that crowds hadn't been removed yet, either.

It would be better if the government just pushed through it, and let it do its thing, otherwise it seems as if everyone is going to be walking on egg shells for the next 2 years and hiding away while we wait for a vaccine to come out. Hopefully.
