Of closed cases. Deaths have gone from 10% to 15% now in the last couple of weeks. It's getting worse.

15 out of 100 that get CV die. 😬

It would be interesting to see a map which shows where the Corona cases live (roughly to the nearest suburb).
I've been told its far worse in Melbourne CBD than the rest of the State.
I know NSW was mainly the NW suburbs , but that may have changed.
Melbourne makes sense because if it’s still mainly from people coming into the country that’s where you would stay. Can’t work out nsw. Doesn’t make huge sense. You would also think it would be the city.

they are pumping the money in now because they have no choice

but again, back when this thing kicked off, they didn't take the short term hit to the surplus that would have saved them billions now!!!! that's my whole point. because they tried to save the hit in terms of international tourism and education, it's now cost them billions more because they've got full lock downs implemented because the infection has now established its self on our shores.

the inaction on the cruise ship and testing has cost us more.

they're very critical mistakes.

surely you can see this?

btw the last 5 PM's aint going to help us. the discussion there is irrelevant. all that matters is if we have the right person leading the country right now for the circumstances we are in.
Is the cruise ships local or federal government issues. We checked ours when they came off so it suggests it’s local not federal.

i hope it starts to drop. thats the light at the end of the tunnel if we can get this down to a more manageable number and projectory.
It won’t drop yet. We need to remember these figures are really 7 to 14 days. Obviously they aren’t but I think people understand what I mean. The good news for us vics is if they stabilise before isolation kicked in then they should drop once they kick in

both

border protection is a federal issue. so they let it into our waters.

the port its self is a federal issue. but the enforcement of it is a state issue.

it's a **** up by the feds and state. they don't seem to be on the same page either which is truly bizarre given they're the same ****in party. we saw this happen during the bush fires too. LNP feds point the finger at the NSW libs. NSW Libs point the finger at the LNP Feds. meanwhile it falls through the cracks and people suffer.

Different job granted but I think Greg hunt has been doing a good job, he’s providing facts and stats.

I drove my daughter the short distance to her sisters and decided I’d have a bit of time out of the house so I drove to the beach and sat in the car with my wife and the dog for half an hour. It was pretty quite a few people jogging, walking and riding but no groups which was good to see.

Looking out what struck me was I couldn’t see any ships standing off, not one which is amazing for Australia’s busiest container port.

Clearly an article today said it had nothing to do with border protection. They don’t have the authority. Nsw health let them go. Border protection let them in because there wasn’t a reported case I believe. Let’s face it we will find faults depending on who you barrack for in most cases. I think scomo is doing a great job considering he has to balance the cv and the mental health of people. If you barrack for the other side you would say the messages are all over the place

When i suggested on another thread they should grab it off the hoarders under the Emergency Powers, one particular poster got his nose out of joint.
I think he outed himself as a hoarder.:D
If you’re referring to my post nah all I did was follow the state governments advice and get a couple of weeks worth of essentials, long before people started charging into stores.

You if I recall correctly wanted to raid a woman’s home because she had a stash of toilet roles. You might want to think on what constitutes hoarding given by your own admission you’d purchased a 20 kg bag of rice, several other bags and a bulk pasta.

I think you’ll find 20 kg of rice is 400 servings so you’ve well a truly become a hoarder🤣🤣

I never got it and still don’t get. They were never shutting supermarkets. Now if was paint to do some house painting whilst on lockdown or beer to drink yourself stupid whilst on lockdown I’d get it because both those type of places will shut probably this weekend. I’ve got the beer. Not sure boredom can make me paint. Got to be the worst job in the world.

Word from a mate in ze government is stricter shutdowns will be announced in the next day or two.
Get your booze everyone..
You mean someone hasn’t, those scenes made the toilet paper stampede look like a fun run.

Anyway surely a bottle shop is an essential service, I watched Pauline Hanson giving an interview and if it’s up to her it will be.

now he's faced with the real thing and he's failed early and cost hundreds of thousands their livelihood. all because he was more concerned with the surplus than actually looking at the risk.

I agree with everything you've said, but I think this is wrong. They gave up on the surplus in late November or December during the bushfires. The surplus they were so desperate to have has had no bearing on the way he's handle the coronavirus (which I believe has been poor and totally reactionary.) I will say though, he did decide to shut down travel from Italy even though his CMO advised him otherwise. We've got to give him credit for that one..

Aside from that, you are absolutely spot on. He isn't the guy that should be leading this countries response to this crisis. He might be a good politician, but he's not a leader.

It was always going to be the case and whilst a few things will be missing most things will return.

I guess if you really want people to lock down then they need a few supplies so again the message was a bit confused. If scomo had said just ease up build your stash over several weeks leave a bit for others imo it would have been better than the hoarder rage.

I’m not doing any DIY, I painted and plastered during January and that’s me done for the year. I’m fine for beer etc but I don’t drink much it’s usually a few quite ones watching sport. I can’t get excited about a beer watching a movie or some series.

I used to drink a lot but I mainly spill it now.

Not sure about that, there was a dip on one day I think but it's still trending upwards massively

Were the last 4 days similar. I think that’s a yes. Not sure your graph has today. Think it’s been something like 51 67 61 54. Now that’s not bad and as I said certainly means percentage wise it’s dropping. That can’t be anything but a good thing Sorry your graph is for Australia I just noticed. I was talking Victoria.

What I’ll miss as I’m sure you will is a beer with mates and just talking rubbish usually about sport.

My house is pretty much a dry zone apart from me, so now it’s even worse I’ll be sitting there having a beer on my own without the excuse of watching a game.

Agree it’s harder to have a beer on your own watching Debbie does Dallas.

In terms of Scomo's actions over Covid19, lets just wait until it's all over befor we make judgement on his actions.

I remember though that Conservative governments of all my adult life have presented their terms of election through the veil of fear and they will save us from.

These things we need to be afraid of
Asylum seekers
Terrorists
Taxes
Red tape
Unions
Drugs
Immigrants
Moslems
Asians
Chinese
Aborigines
Mabo
Intellectual elites
The unemployed
African youth
Any response to climate change
Public servants
The Labor Party
Large goverment
etc

All the while selling themselves as a sure hand the safe option, when in power they've slashed the public service in terms of numbers, crushed it's function from being advisors to Government to being yes men and cronies, and God help anyone that has the courage to tell truth to power.

So any failures during this time can be traced right back to the ideologues of the right and they should be held responsible for them.

Conservatives have sold themselves on leadership and a safe hand, Scomo has had 2 genuine crises to deal with, his response to the first was pathetic, I'll need time to judge his second effort, but I won't be cutting him any slack, if nothing else because a leaders judgement and decision making in times of crises is what defines them

I was thinking today about the "essential" workers.

How the hell are they going to define them? So much stuff it all bundled in a supply chain. To use something simple:

Hand Sanitizer.
You have the raw materials for it and the container it goes in. Two separate supply chains. All the manufacturer of the thing does is mix it together and put it in a container and send it on it's way.

Even a thing like a ventilator made by company A:
You'll have things like plastic tubes, electronics, metal work and god knows what else. Each of them coming from a different supplier. All being put together Company A and sent on it's way.

Every step along the way part of the pyramid shut down one and the pyramid falls down. It could be something simple as the place that cuts and folds a bracket shutting down and the whole thing is stuffed! The days of a company making things in house are long gone.

It seems like the lock down plan is something made by office jockeys for office jockeys.
