I hope these people know that the Wile E Coyote logic if ‘if I don’t look down, I won’t fall from the cliff’ doesn’t actually work in real life.

If you don’t check in somewhere, but contract Covid from there, you still get Covid.
This is likely to be the ned result for some:

I read that people are switching phone's off and going off grid to avoid authorities. Not surprising really after Meglomaniacowan locked up 400 people for Christmas.
I read that most of Europe and a fair bit of the USA are reintroducing restrictions and bringing in vaccine mandates in various forms.
I also read that there's significant and disruptive staff shortages in most industries across countries that have spread of omicron.
Funny, but we seem to be getting our news from fairly different sources.

"I don't kid, let me just tell you, let me make it clear," Trump told a reporter on Monday, when asked again if he was kidding when he said Saturday he instructed his administration to slow down coronavirus testing.
The President then sought to highlight the US coronavirus testing numbers and asserted that "by having more tests, we have more cases."
Trump's comment is the latest in an evolving set of explanations about whether he actually instructed his administration to slow down coronavirus testing because an increased number of cases made the country look bad -- based on a comment made at his Saturday night rally.
Trump had told supporters at the rally that Covid-19 testing was "a double-edged sword."
"I said to my people, 'Slow the testing down please,' " the President had said.

Reminded me of this.

Sounds like the main reason restrictions are continuing into the New Year is because there’s 39 people who were at the Mess Hall event who haven’t been able to be contacted, and there’s a worry they’ll produce more cases.

But sure let’s blame MegalomaniacGowan™️, not the campaigners who haven’t done what they’re supposed to do, and presumably don’t want to know whether or not they’re carrying a deadly disease.

If some of the campaigners on here are anything to go by they've probably given fake details, thrown their phone into the sea or changed their gender & name by deed poll to stick it to the man. Far easier than just doing their part for the rest of society.

Rumour doing the rounds is that fake names were indeed used. "Jesus Christ" and "Ben Dover" were a couple of names cited.

Speaking from the SA experience, everyone I know is vaccinated and more concerned about being forced into isolation as a close contact than they are about actually contracting Covid.

His exalted one locked up 400 people for 2 weeks and a bunch of others went yeah, nah.

Yeh so moving on from the standard partisan arguing from all the same suspects...

Was listening to an ABC radio report today that expected drownings in kids is expected to be the worst ever (particularly on the east coast) because of numerous missed swimming lessons in the last two years and the damage it has done to young kids development. Will take alot more lessons to catch them up (apparently) to where they would be in "normal" years.

I understand and am not necessarily against the actions taken to stop/slow the affects of COVID. But they didnt happen in a vacuum. There will be consequences.

Sure, it does seem like it’s inconvenient as **** and I wouldn’t sign up for it for the sake of it, but the attitude of “if I delete my app nobody can interrupt my life” is about as selfish as someone could get in my mind. If you’re a close contact and you’re holding off on testing because it will inconvenience you, that’s just sort of a dick move.

And that’s not even including the ones that McGowan drowns personally for fun.

Setting aside Victoria for a minute, what was their reasoning? The rest of the country has basically been open for the past 2 years sans a few weeks here and there. NSW had a 3mth lockdown in the middle of winter but otherwise normal.

Are these pool drownings or beach drownings?
Are our swimming lessons/standards so weak that kids will literally drown having missed a few lessons? Did they provide an alternative like intensive lessons, particularly for Vic kids to catch them up?

In Victoria they have 18000+ active cases 2700 yesterday alone but only 69 ICU .

Vaccination plus the virus mutating into less deadly more infectious variants has made it possible to just live with it.

There was 50000 people at the MCG

People have lost the irrational fear of covid and are getting on with their lives

And we are having a go at backpackers having a little party and people not scanning in.

Mcgowan still wants covid zero . He seems upset we have covid in our community not on his terms

It's also why no Vic kids were taken in the draft.

The consequences of doing nothing to stop or slow the effects of COVID are however well documented.

Xi Jing Gowan scared many people away from using the sign in code when he locked up 400 people for Christmas. Just 5 weeks from his reopening date. In a state where 85% of people are vaccinated.
Lol. Imagine how those people would have fared in times of actual hardship, like war. Not checking in is 100% on the selfishness of the individual.

Those people did check in and are now locked in a gulag for their efforts.
Gulags of course being famous for letting their prisoners stay at home and watch Netflix instead of continuing on with the forced labour.
