The main benefit of a booster is that it is 80+% likely to keep you out of hospital for at least 3 months. Effectiveness declines after that but is still of benefit.
I’ve had mine a couple of weeks ago but wouldn’t be putting it off if I was due now.

Re-reading it and seems that it’s six months:

Several studies have shown that six months after vaccination, two doses of the AstraZeneca and Pfizer vaccines provide 79 and 90 per cent protection respectively against hospitalisation and death.

Review over February. Guess that means at least late into March/April.

He's lucky there is a heatwave in Perth still over the weekend otherwise I think there would be some rather large protests.

Will people now put off having the 3rd dose as the effects will be waning when we finally open up.

That’s an interesting question. He can’t even provide a definitive “open” date.
I had my second dose in November and as it stands can’t get my third since mid March. If we are still no closer to opening then, should I just not bother? 🤷‍♂️

Had mine a few weeks ago. Aren't I the idiot.

That clicking sound heard all over Perth to tonight is the sound of a million people cancelling their boosters

Absolute debacle

So for the over 500,000 people who have got their booster shot so far it will be starting to wane by the end of March start of April. Way to fu** those people over for doing what was asked.

Considering we did over 150,000 boosters in the last week, a very significant portion of the population would have been protected by the 5th of Feb.

Had mine booked for tomorrow, going to push it back now otherwise I'll be in that boat as well.
Yeah all those who rushed out to get their booster before feb 5th have kind of been screwed over but i have a feeling our omicron outbreak has already started and not flooding the state with 80k new arrivals as was booked week 1 of opening is going to keep our outbreak trending up much slower than if new cases come in through the boarders .

Teams will be given exemptions to come in you'd think.

The problem will be what happens when someone comes in and then tests positive? (with the virus everywhere that will obviously happen) Would they be allowed to leave or will the whole team have to go into quarantine in WA? If the whole team has to quarantine then the whole season has to stop each time. Also the 2 WA teams playing away games then flying back, with the virus everywhere now the players wont be able to avoid it if they travel.

Not keen on starting a mud slinging match but neither you or anybody else has been suspended for criticising Mark McGowan. You got an infraction for repeatedly using Nazi references in the context of vaccines and Covid.
I called Julius McGowan an assortment of the worst tyrants in all of time. A couple of those from the 1930's. You overreacted. I blame Morrison for this disgrace though. He is a disaster for not dealing with this shit, but let's not pretend McGowan isn't insane.

No one is being screwed over boosters.

Enough people being boosted to mitigate it? 25% and counting. Even 'just' a double dose offers some protection (even if it's piddly in comparison to being fully boosted). Also the testing still seems high and the case numbers at the moment are still a trickle.

Don't jinx it though...
I don't know how much difference a fresh double dosed vs a fresh boosted would be .

They say that being double dosed isn't stopping omicron but a lot of those double dosed especially in older people are 4-6months + since they were vaxxed so it is past its shitty low shelf life .

I have a feeling in a couple of months just like in Israel that the narrative will be the booster doesn't stop transmission just reduces serious symptoms .

Maybe learn from that.

Julius Caesar is regarded as one of the greatest rulers of Rome and most accomplished military generals. Julius Erving is regarded as one of the best NBA players of all time. Dr Julius Hibbert is a pretty funny character on The Simpsons.

Not sure 'Julius McGowan' is as devastating an insult as you were hoping for.

Just like all those who went out and got double Vaxxed early to do the right thing just to find no covid in WA and their immunity wore off ?

What happens if we don't get an outbreak and open up in may?

Now their boosters are 5 months old and not offering the same protection coming into winter

People got their boosters in preparation for feb 5th

Read my earlier reference.

It will be a miracle if we don’t get an outbreak.

I LOVE Roman history. The Conn Iggulden series is seriously worth a look. It was a shame I had to skunk into that far corner but he his both known for what you suggest but theres also a massive counter perspective.
