Covid 19 (OPEN DISCUSSION)

How the Feds and NSW government bungled a cruise ship in the chaos when this thing was kicking off has nothing to do with thought out policy decisions made today. Most people thought McGowan did the right things back then - there's very little debate on that. And to a large part people have supported the decisions up to late last year/early this year.

It's a barb about a fu** up 2 years ago that has nothing to do with the conversation today.
That is the reason i said "I am not sure what you are not sure". You are reading the sentence with Fed election in mind and I am not.
The sentence is nothing more than saying that we do not have any Covid Death since 2020 and all those 9 death were infected from the Crusie Ship outside WA.

I didn't raise the federal election and it's not even remotely ion my thinking.

Am saying bringing up a **** up on a Cruise Ship 2 years ago in the height of chaos has zero to do with what's going on today.

Not that complicated.

Interesting you try to dismiss my comments as lies.

Why is that? To assuage your blind devotion to a dictator?

My Chinese friends and family have had to comply with vaccination and mask mandates, and lockdowns are still deployed in China. Even in areas with ostensibly no COVID at all, masks were required in places like public transport. Most notably, the major city of Xi'an was subject to incredibly harsh restrictions including the requirement for masks indoors at all times - no exceptions.

Chinese have overwhelmingly complied with lockdowns, mask mandates and other restrictions and most of the complaints from Xi'an residents involved difficulties obtaining supplies and other inconveniences.

Where is your Chinese friend located?

The Chinese government has actually been going door to door and asking people why they haven’t been vaccinated and, in some cases, have forcibly vaccinated people. So I am just going to assume that your anecdote is false.

As for people being more free in China than they are in WA, tell your imaginary friend to punch Tiananmen Square 1989 into a search engine and report back with his findings.

Yeah I am fairly sure - as usual - that Smotie is touting complete BS or at the very least using selective misinformation.

China has been subject to some of the most draconian restrictions in the world for COVID control since it began.

Where did i mention the crusie ship is relating? ( other than dating back the "no covid death" since the crusie ship saga).
I suggest you to read the senstence again and try to take the meaning of the senstence rather than guessing what other were thinking.

Ok, apologies - I misread the intention of raising the cruise ships. I'd still argue anything from 2 years again is largely not relevant today but anyway I'll leave it there.

Look, it's a moving beast and new depths are reached every day, but holding up China of all places as a beacon of freedom and liberty compared to life in Western Australia is surely a new low and one I never thought we'd stoop to. Especially using the line "blind devotion to a dictator", referring to McGowan, when DEFENDING CHINA.

Stunned.

NSW and Vic. ICU cases

0.01%. Of double vaccinated people in ICU

1.5% of unvaccinated people in ICU

15 times more likely to be in ICU if you are unvaccinated
So the 90% of West Australians who are double vaxxed (96% with one) have basically no chance - 0.01 is a statistical outlier - of going into ICU.

Woo Hoo!! Pandemic over.

Of the rest, only 1.5% of the 6% unvaxxed will get seriously sick with it (and I'd guess most of them are old and have co-morbidities). I'm sure the hospital system of Sudan could deal with that.

No need to lock down 2.3 million people like children and make them ask permission from the state to have a beer.

I know of a department that’s made a similar move. I doubt there’s anything more to it than “there’s a fair chance people are going to have to work from home at some point soon”.
DoH is doing similar. Basically splitting (where possible) staff into two teams that rotate between on-site and WFH, with the goal that if one team has to quarantine, the other team can do the on-site.

It'd be a pretty safe bet that all public service have been directed to do similar.

Also a lot of company's are prepping for people to be rotated into the the office so that not everyone gets covid if there is an outbreak in the office.

It's all (frustrating) guesswork but:

“Back on January the 20th the Premier said the aim was to get the third dose vaccine rate up above at least 80 per cent.

“He said today (Wednesday) that 37.6 per cent of West Australians 16 and over have had their third dose.

“He also said boosters are increasing at 1 per cent per day… at that rate we should hit 80 per cent in 43 days.”

Forty-three days from now is Thursday the 17th of March, so to round out the week, Harvey predicts the border could reopen on Monday March 21. There you go – a date.

Meanwhile, his decision to keep WA's borders closed has received support from an unlikely source — Prime Minister Scott Morrison, who said today he realised WA was facing a different situation to other states.

Asked if Mr McGowan had done the right thing by deferring the reopening, Mr Morrison told Nine Radio: "Yeah, I think he did."

Never thought I'd see the day when the Prime Minister agreed with the Premier on a border policy. Is this the kiss of death?

The Oppo also agrees with the boarders lol

State or Federal? The State Opposition has so far been consistently opposing the delay in reopening as they are sensing some extra political mileage out of it (admittedly from a very low base).

March 5 is something I think the State Government might begin to agree with, and this early in the election cycle being seen to agree with the State Opposition will be forgotten in 2025.

Well that tells us precisely two things.

There's a federal election coming, and that delaying the date is polling as broadly popular in the liberal parties internal polling.

How stupid and weak a leader is Morrison? Too scared to take on McGowan and what he see's as McGowans lockdown "populism".

Personally I reckon he has miscalculated the mood. People are turning in droves against this draconian crap and Morrison providing a counter position could easily have turned into a boon for him. People do not expect a bipartisan support of this untenable, indefinate purgatory we are now trapped into.

"In droves" = Four people on the freeway.

(and Jack Darling)

ScoMo is a weather vane. If he senses a change in the WA electorate, he will turn 180 degrees and go the hack on McGowan.
