Don't be sad Maggie. It's swings and rounabouts. Duck breast is $5 a kilo and it's strawberry season - the best strawberries on the planet are $8 a kilo at the moment. Stone fruit coming soon.

Most of the time you can get great cheese, but stuff from Europe is in short supply.

You know what I miss. Other than meat pies, dim sims, salt and vinegar chips and twisties.
Parmesan cheese.
Oh you can get it here. But you need to rob at least 4 banks in order to buy 100 grams.
Once covid is gone I'm going into the Parmesan smuggling business.

I still have it of course, but nowhere near as frequently as I did in Aus.

When i head back tp Melbourne, the first thing i do is eat a souva. **** I'm going to be upset if the next time i get home i discover that sunblest souvas have become all the rage.

Fish and chips and a four and twenty pie are my initial cravings after months away. The novelty dies quickly.

I don't think I'll ever hear the end of this Sunblest business.. unfbelievable man.
So much good work, then...you live & die by the slice of faux bread.

I have to say Sunblestgate has to be the biggest controversy this board has seen, since "The Bens", the Barham/Beams, the Tom Longeron.

Not sure we'll ever recover.

Everyone wants to be over critical over my sunblest.. that's fine.. the souv itself was like me dribbling past 3 donks.. and getting chopped on the 4th.. and that's being over critical mind you..
Just to dispel the Gimp myth re bread made for eating. 29440B02-CF65-4795-A9B9-1836D5DF17B2.jpeg

That's my version of medium well Maggie, I usually have it just a little less cooked.
I was going to say it’s a bit done. Love the char though

Gc and Sr have redeemed themselves.. slightly. Jb drops a spot for his speed hump pav. Ss deserts look the goods. And the neilk cooks like he plays golf.

Woo hoo. Back in the top 10 and with JMacs plate of kale sitting above me I can rise further.

Great article with some sobering projections. House prices down by up to 30% (worst case), cost of travel up by that much with increasing barriers to entry in some parts of the world.

History has shown that the effect of pandemics on society means some things will never be the same.

I hope that this will force us to reassess how we operate as a country, and what we value.

I now know what Hirdy felt like during the supplements scandal. Tinned apples , cinnamon sugar and some puff pastry. I am shocked to be in this situation. View attachment 869486

This is my go to stand-by desert recipe... really easy, quick to prepare, and can be done early.

Apple Pie/Crumble

Apple Mix

6x granny smith apples – sliced (chunky or thin, can use peaches, nectarines, plums etc as an alternative if you like)
1x tbsp sugar
1x tsp cinnamon

optional – dried fruit or berries. Blueberries, raspberries or pitted cherries particularly good.

Place sliced apples into a casserole or deep pie dish (approx 6 inches diameter x 4 inches deep), sprinkle combined sugar and cinnamon over apples. Add a splash of water to the apple mix prior to adding the topping.

Topping
1x cup flour (GF flour works)
1x cup castor sugar
1x egg (or mashed banana for vegan option)
4oz (115gms) melted butter
½-1 x cup chopped walnuts (macadamia or pecans or a combination of all can be used)
2/3 x cup choc chips (dark, milk or white chocolate)
pinch of salt

Mix topping ingredients together and spread over apples.

Bake for approximately 40 minutes in 180C oven (fan on). Vary time to suit your oven. Pie is cooked when crust is golden and crunchy.

I've taken a liking to using dark chocolate chips, pecans and canned cherries of late but experiment to find what tickles your fan-dangle.

I think majority of you owe me an apology.. tip top rated 2nd in the 2020 canstar reviews with 4 stars.. helgas in 3rd place.

I rest my case.

I did use google for this one. You must be a bit outraged that sunblest doesn't even get a mention. Even when ranking shite, sunblest is too shite to make the rankings.

Geeses you get yourself back in the top 10 and look what you do?! Sunblest is a Tip Top bread and as the Gimp stated they ranked 2nd. Wouldn't be surprised to see you take a deep slide on this one!
