If you don't know, imagine your average public hospital patient (like me, actually) getting their head around it, let alone being able to pronounce 'noisette' correctly.

I wouldn't complain or feel guilty that you've been able to distance yourself from the hoi polloi of sickly and suffering Aussie battlers. Many years ago when I had private cover and swanned about the spacious wards and rooms of Frankston Peninsula, we were given a choice of wine at dinner. Is this still the case in private hospital, or has our newly found friend, Sanitised Safety, ensured that is no longer an option?
Despite fervent searching, I have been unable to locate any reference to or offering of wine OR PINEAPPLE 🍍

I knew it? The serving of wine always struck me as a major difference between the private and public system, but now that difference obviously only extends to the odd fancy dish and a couple of French words on a menu, plus I suppose a distinctly classier set of bedfellows, assuming of course that you have bedfellows at all.

If the truth be told, you are probably happily ensconced in your own room with a lovely view of docklands. Just get one of your visitors to smuggle in a bottle of your fancy so that you can truly enjoy the luxury that a full comprehensive cover can provide.

Get well soon!

During Covid I managed to sneak in through a break in lockdowns and had abdominal surgery to repair some umbilical hernias. Private hospital in Bundoora. had the surgery in the morning, sandwiches for lunch and when they came around with the dinner menu, they had wine on it. Wine in a glass, plastic glass, single serve, with a foil top.

I had the red with dinner, asked the nurse if there was any chance of another one and she went and found me one. Combined with the pain killers, I slept well that night.

That's how it should be.

That looks like a very nice combination.

Although I wish you hadn't mentioned roasted capsicum.
I'm like Pavlov's Dog. Just the mere mention of them makes my mouth water.
I'm with you on roast capsicum. I eat it by the truckload. jathanas may have the genetics, but I'm more culturally wog than him. From a jar? Pffft. I go to the market half an hour before close on Saturday afternoon when they're selling off veggies ridiculously cheap, because it's closed Sunday and Monday. I fight off the old Chinese ladies with their sharp elbows and buy kilos of the red gold and roast them myself.

But I don’t drink wine.
Would they sub in a single malt?
Only way I’d pay the exorbitant gap fees that private insurance bring.

You’re such a tight arse.

Wife’s been as sick as a dog with covid all week. Not even the barest hint of a symptom for me.
Think being surrounded by the virus every working day has made me immune

I just bought 3 shopping bags full of veg for under $30. I enjoy it it reminds me of being in Asia. The old Chinese ladies push you out of the way to haggle over 99cent/kg capsicum.

ie - the guy with an artichoke stall at the Footscray market is a multi-millionare
Sure is. Along with most of the other stall holders.

Don’t mess with these people.

Sitting on the porch watching all those little white butterflies.
Some are just pottering around the flowers. Others are soaring high above flying at a fair rate.

Food for thought.
