Anyone on Vodafone that has played in the Crown Poker Room?

I'm with Three Mobile and downstairs I'm roaming voice and data.

Hoping that if and when the merge happens (VodaHutch) that I get 3G reception.

I'm with Vodafone, have never had reception in the poker room. always have to go up to the smoking area to make calls.

I want two things.

Be able to access Facebook, Twitter etc in the poker room.

Not have to go to Telstra

Merge has already happened.

They're still going to trade as two separate entities though.

Went to Crown last night and was very surprised to see that the Poker Pro tables now have a massive rail around the whole area. Looks odd.

In my satellite, I asked the dealer and then a TD for a ruling. Blinds at 50/100, EP raises to 300. I call with 77 on the button. BB 3-bets to 700, at which point the initial raiser says:

"I see your 400 (throws out the extra chips) and I raise all-in for 3000 more (as he then throws in the rest of his chips)".

Can't remember how much exactly he shoved for but I wasn't calling a shove. I actually said to the guy on my right "I hope he shoves, makes my decision easier".

But the guy had effectively said CALL then RAISE, ie. a string bet. Others agreed that I correctly heard what he said and how he said it. He's protesting that he raised all-in, I demanded a ruling from the dealer, then within a second or two, asked the dealer to call over a TD. I didn't say a word when the TD came over, the dealer and other players explained what happened and the ruling was that the guy had called and it was 400 to me, so I called.

I missed the flop, he shoves, we both fold. I may have finished 16/100 but I just didn't get any cards or hit any flops. Will have to make up for it next time.

I say play on, refs made the right call.

Verbal is binding, and since the first verbal was call (see = call) its a call. Have had this issue a few times, but its pretty standard..

I said something at the time, it's old school. Maybe he's seen Maverick one too many times.

FYP...

Anybody know of that indian (i think) dealer Rami?
Got attitude and an extremely bad pitcher.
One time, there was this n00b calling and raising out of turn at my table, coincidentally in quite big pots. Happened at least 3 times. Rami hadn't even acknowledged the problem.
Rami had been there the whole time, so i eventually said 'are you going to do anything about this'... he just stared back at me like a stunned mullet.
Later i was dealt QQ, and the moron deals 1 card onto the floor, and misdeals the other.
Since then he's had this very arrogant presence about him which i dont take kindly to.... anyone know this guy/had a similar experience with him?

You can complain to one of the floor guys whatever they are called

I only keep a lookout for hot Asian dealers (female!), of which there are less than there used to be in the past

There is something I've wondered about for any of you who make a fair bit of $$ at Crown.

Do you always get paid in cash? I know the ATO doesn't tax you on poker winnings unless it's your main income source, but if you get just get paid in cash and put it in your bank account you might have a hard time explaining where it came from if the ATO was to pursue you.

I always get paid in cash at Crown and avoid putting it into my bank account. Do they offer other payment options and what do you guys do?

I get paid in cash and just put it in bank yeh. Might stop putting it in bank soon though, not sure how the taxes work haha.

Anyone seen the new $1000 chips? Shiny as.

.

Gee sounds like your making lots of dollars!!!
I dont think the ATO can do anything about it. The Government makes huge gains from all those suckers at the Casino anyway.

WTF can they do if you tell them you made 10k at the Cas? Nothing I suspect.
