I think it was Phil Walsh that instituted the 'attack the 1st releaser' so they cant get back into the chain

Because one of the 2/3 receivers will be the original handballer - by stopping this you break the rhythm and apply more pressure
It’s a common strategy in soccer that Barcelona under Guardiola perfected. Maintain possession and when you lose it, that’s when the opposition is most vulnerable so you vigorously attack the ball carrier and their options to force a turnover. If you can regain possession again, the opposition is opened up as they’ve shifted formation from defend to attack and that’s when you can exploit.

Conversely, why isn’t Brad making an effort to turn around and face his senior coach and make eye contact while he’s speaking? Didn’t seem to be too much for his brother who’s sitting right next to him (I can’t see the other players in the room but I assume they were all looking at their coach at this point too).

I understand it was probably edited somewhat to look that way, but there are some things from Brad in terms of his attitude and body language in this clip that would ring alarm bells in any context.

I agree, but not in the same way

Brad started playing for us in 2013, left at the end of 2020. So in eight seasons, he had five senior coaches.
Anyone care to remember GF day? One of our best with 29D, 6T, 7 clearances. Big stage, he turns up.
He spends 2018 injured because we’ve got the “best” fitness dept in the country
We collapse into a heap
...and the whole time, the club has never stood up and said, “we got this wrong, sorry guys”

then he gets a new coach, whose big man moment is “if you don’t like defending, go away”, appointed by the same morons who caused all the problems in the first place... instead he gets, “you no defend”, with a captain who thinks he’s a Furby looking on

if he’s got an attitude problem, it’s because he‘s sick of our club being full of w***ers

I‘m not surprised he left, and I’ll be cheering for him when we play the Saints

we cleaned out most of the admin, and the coaches, but the board left to a round of applause after royally ****ing our club.

Hard to argue with much of this.

The thing that sticks out like the proverbial in that clip is our overpayed non-performing sycophant captain chirping complete rubbish in the background. The guy doesn't even deserve his spot in the team based on form over the last 18 months and he's telling others to lift their game. He would be the first I would trade. There's a future coaching job or board seat with his name on it under our current admin.

No he didn't. He's a cheap accumulator in a midfield that was smashed to pieces. Dustin Martin was more effective with 29 disposals than the Crouch brothers were with 66 disposals combined, because he did stuff with them rather than just collect them.

yet he was named third best

I’m glad we got rid of him, and kept his brother and Laird, who no one in the world thinks are cheap accUmulators.

It was all his fault! DEATH TO BRAD!!!

Richmond coaching box was supreme that day, especially Matthew Clarke.

I am reliably informed everything was Brad’s fault. He must have told Damien Hardwick how he wasn’t planning on defending that day

I agree, but not in the same way...
Brad Crouch actually joined the club in 2012 from the GWS mini draft. But couldn't play until 2013.

So he would have been looking forward to playing in a side on the verge of premiership contention, only to immediately be hit with the aftermath of the Tippett affair.

He (and others) would have been burnt like that 3 or 4 times over a career at Adelaide. Despite this, the club is always exonerated with the "He was always going to leave" excuse whenever a player leaves.

Brad’s gonna be like Mark Cosgrove

SACA: you’re not good enough to play here!
Goes to Tassie, wins two Shields
Redbacks come last again and again and again
We recruit him back

We sure showed him who knows a thing or two about cricket!

This (edited, true) clip from the documentary appears to demonstrate that Brad's ego outstripped his ability by about as much as die hard fan opinion did.

Now that he's at St Kilda the frantic defences of everything about him grow even more deranged.

One day we’ll get the story of the time he ran over your dog on the way to take your wife out for a seafood dinner

I thought Sloane talking in that clip was someone very conscious of the cameras. He was rolling out the radio interview line. Hopefully there isn't too much of that.
There's a bit of that from everyone, which is kinda understandable.

Only watched the first 2 eps though.

Who'll be the first organisation to allow hidden cameras, rooms to be bugged etc without telling their players, coaches and staff?

Maybe a club that's battling financially and desperate

Didn't we deal with your deranged crouch hatred after you disappeared once Matt made All Australian?

Have you seriously been stewing this entire time waiting to jump back on claiming they aren't quality footballers?

What did they do to you? seriously, this is clearly personal for you.

I'll.go the other way, it'll be a club who is comfortable with their workplace and what it provides.

I mean all these docos are a bit contrived, much like the F1 Netflix thing and the Sunderland one to a lesser extent.

I'm liking this one so far though, Leon Cameron unravels pretty quick

We pushed him out. He was not offered a contract during 2020, Brad himself said so on AA a few times. If we offered a contract he would be here.

As good as his stats show, the St Kilda offer was poor for a mid in his prime years and no other club offered better. We got third band compo for him. Not borderline 1/2.

This could be either because of off field issues.

Or the industry sees him as a guy who gets a lot of the ball, but has limited hurt factor and his salary reflects this.

This is more likely than off field issues.

I still think he is a good mid and like 2017 he will go well at the Saints. He is not a guy you build a midfield around, but he is complimentary to a good midfield. In 2017 he worked well with a younger Sloane and pre Hamstring issues Matt Crouch. At St Kilda he will have that support.

Much like Cossie who can't hold an innings together on his own. But when he has confidence in knowing his batting partners are capable of sticking around his natural attacking game will flourish.
