We will be back to finishing 4-8th on the ladder again next year and get eliminated week 2 of the finals and then all will be right in the world again.

I'm as pissed at Burton and co than anyone, but our finals wins last year were superb. Especially the prelim. Hard, tough, high scoring footy. Like they played most of the year. They showed a mental strength to hold on in games where we would have collapsed in the past. They had overcome most of the old loser traits.
Then this year... But we don't have to go back to that old loser mentality.

Elite standards. Our fitness this year was far from elite. Is Burton elite? At causing injuries and being promoted, yes, but we don't pay him for that. After the presser I thought he was a goner for sure, but now he even has fagan defending him with imaginary statistics.

Collective minds alright, definitely some sort of brainwash going on down at the Afc.

Doing well last year gave our football staff a lot of confidence - they could do no wrong so felt comfortable pushing the boundaries. Because we were the leaders of the pack and knew best. Every decision a winner.

Not sure about him "not being able to keep up", from what I can remember hearing at the time he apparently cracked the shits with the club and walked out.

The Bears had told various senior players during 1990 that it was going to be their last year at the Bears (Williams and Capper were part of that group along with a few others). The club was going to focus on youth in 91 and was looking at bringing in a more experienced coach (which ended up being Walls).

Williams refused to finish the season with them and asked for permission to go back and play for Port in the SANFL. He ended up back playing for the Magpies within a couple of weeks and went on to play for the rest of the season and in their 1990 flag.

Yes, it's very funny. My favourite way of dealing with all this stuff is to ignore it. However, yesterday's effort, foaming at the mouth, comparing us with the druggies, and demanding sanctions, triggered rage in me. I figured that it should in the AFC also, and I would have thought that this would be the ideal time for the AFC to say "enough", and get aggro. I was hoping for a published reaction from them, but maybe they have done it through the back door?
