Cyril Rioli or Lewis Jetta

They are different players that play different positions.

Rioli is a forward pocket who excels in contested situations and inside work as well as his defensive work and tackling.

Jetta is a wingman who can run damn quick and can kick goals.

I rate Cyril's type of player more because he creates as many goals as he kicks through his pressure and tackling and is far more likely to create a turnover from the opposition. Considering their positions, Rioli is has also been more consistent this season.

If we go by this seasons stats:

Jetta averages 15.8 disposals to 14.3 for Cyril.
Jetta averages 2.4 goals to Cyrils 2.2.
Cyril averages 3.9 tackles to Jetta's 3.2.
Jetta averages 5 inside 50's to Cyrils 3.4.
Jetta averages 3.1 goals contributed to Cyrils 2.9. (Goals contributed is average goals + average goal assists.)

On this I would have to take Jetta. More of the ball, has more goals and assists more goals and can pump the ball inside 50 with forward pressure. Cyril is a good player no doubt but Lewis is rising up the charts rapidly.

Opposition coaches put a lot of time into Cyril, gets a lock down defender week in week out.. If opposing teams put an offensive defender on Cyril it would be carnage.. Lewis has a way to go

So you want us to get back to you when Jetta is as overrated as Rioli is?

Honestly with the ammount of crap Rioli cops for being overrated and inconsistent (myth by the way), he has actually become underrated.

If he was having this season under any other name he would be a lock for All-Australian. However because every man and his dog want to call him overrated, there isn't anyone to even rate him in the first place.

Whichever way you look at it he is constantly used as a measuring stick. What does that tell you?

Lewis Jetta for me. no statistical reason he just impresses me more than cyril

That he's overrated by many on this site, hence my previous comment.

No doubt Rioli has done a lot more than Jetta at this stage of their careers, but Jetta is rapidly closing in.

Wow the consistency myth has grown legs... Cyril has been very consistent this year, no goalless games.. Defensive effort, creativity with ball use.. and stupid 78% DE for a guy that "bites off" plenty when he has the ball in hand.

Funny how people say Jetta has been more consistent, when really he has put together half a season of good football only.
I'm only saying it purely on that half season. Has been woeful outside of it.

Rioli is consistent as well so that wasn't a dig at him. He's both overrated and underrated. Expectations are overrated but when you judge him for what he is as a small forward who spends a bit in the middle, he is the best in the league imo. One of the best anyway.

Shouldn't be expected to get 30 possessions every game, which for some reason he is expected to do by some to match his reputation.

Yeah but surely you'd be fairly happy with Dennis-Lane? Jetta copped a hard tag early today and TDL just took over. Very dangerous to have both of those players in the same forward line alongside Reid.

Quite pleased with the Burmese Kitten's progress (our draftees from that year were Rohan, Jetta, Reid and TDL along with acquiring Mumford, McGlynn and Kennedy. You could do worse).

But still. Could have had them ALL.

Josh Hill needs to be included in this discussion. His arms get up higher than any small forward. It's quite outstanding - and bloody hard to defend against. Rioli and Jetta are special in different ways mainly their ability to circulate their legs at a higher rpm than most players, but it just goes to show that different players have different talents.

Yeah Rioli struggles to take a high mark:rolleyes:

I am not talking about jumping. I am talking about the literal meaning of the words "inspector gadget" arms. Does Rioli possess these? No. So then does he belong in the class of Joshua Hill when it comes to reach? No.

Is Brad Hill his brother? He also came from WA so Imma assume that he is. He also has pretty long arms too.

ok then:rolleyes:

Brad Hill is brother of Stephen Hill, thank the lord as I will rather the pace of S and B Hill over the "long arms" of J Hill any day of the week.

Rioli is avg 2.2 goals per game as a FP...when the feck has that been a lock for All-Australian??

Jetta is turning into the player Hawthorn hoped Rioli would turn into, an electrifying midfielder who can score goals consistently.
