Re: R.I.P Didaka

Wow,

I am gutted to hear this terrible news, I have a few private chats with the bloke about his fight.

Condolences to his family and friends

I am glad you got to see the pies win mate.

It's truely a sad night.

Mark.

Re: Vale Didaka

Wow. I never really spoke to the bloke, but did see his postings around here now and then, especially when I'd gone back and read a few old threads.

Feel .. terrible, regardless of not really knowing him.

Nothing else to say :( Hope the Pies go back to back for the man and somehow he can watch the second with an even better view! :)

Re: R.I.P Didaka

Really sad news. Just shows the friends you can make while still being an anonymous poster on the internet.

RIP Brent.

Re: R.I.P Didaka

Well my friends Monday the 16th of June is the most important day of my short life thus far.

After having my appendix out and collapsing of the bowel I was still having problems which led to a colonoscopy.

Unfortunately a tumor was found during this procedure.

Today is the day where I find out if it is benign or I'm set the battle bowel cancer at 24.

Whether the news is good or bad I will be admitted into surgery in the coming weeks/month to have part of my bowel cut out to ensure I have the biggest chance possible of escaping any life threatening battles.

Wish me luck because I need all I can get. :thumbsu:

That green light to signal he's online, I just can't stop looking at it and thinking, although it's his girlfriend reading upon the tributes that perhaps he is forever etched in the legendary status of BigFooty.

Again, my condolences.

Re: R.I.P Didaka

Jesus. RIP mate, you were a fighting inspiration and you'll be sorely missed. Makes the premiership mean so much more.

Hi Guys, my name is Emma, I am Brent's girlfriend. Not sure how to go about contacting you guys, but I know Brent was in touch with a lot of you on big footy and I know a lot of you were aware of his battle with cancer.

You were the most recent message on his inbox. I didn't know how to make a post or anything like that.

Saldly Brent passed away this Wednesday in the early hours of the morning. He fought so hard and for so long, we are so proud of him.

I thought you guys should know. If you know of anyone else Brent was in contact with on big footy, if you could let them know also that would be great.

Emma

So so sorry for your loss Emma. Its amazing that for a man not alot of us had met, just how closely we followed Brent's fight, particularly making the point of supporting him through our signatures under our BF profiles.

My condolences to you, your family and Brent's family.

Vale Brent.

Regards,

Adam, AKA Conodie05

Re: Vale Didaka

I don't know him but this news has made me tear up as well:( Always sad to hear sumone pass away.Again my thoughts go to his family and friends.

Likewise, and I never met the man. I joined BF around the time he was first diagnosed and was sure he had beaten it. I'm in shock. funny having never met the bloke. He has left a legacy though thats for sure.

Re: R.I.P Didaka

Was genuinely shocked when I read the thread title - condolences to his family and friends - Brent had a fantanstic attitude and was incredibly honest about his battle and had a great sense of humour - he will be missed.

RIP,

Rob

Thoughts are with you Emma, and his close family.

I hope you know that Brent's humour and strength were very appreciated and recognised on these boards.

As trite as it may seem in light of life and death situations, I am even more glad that the Pies took out last years flag.

Vale Brent/Didaka. :(

Re: Vale Didaka

Argh, I feel sick right now, Brent was a ripping bloke and it makes me angry and sad at the same time to think that his life has been cut short in this way. I know he was philosophical as you have to be in his situation, but I really don't have anthing poignant to say at the moment.

I feel really sorry for Emma and Brent's family. I hope you guys are coping ok, or as well as could be expected under the circumstances.

Re: R.I.P Didaka

Just arrived home from a lovely family wedding, spotted this this thread immediately the content.

What can you say? Will try to say a few words, teared up like Swooop and others.
Like all of us, always enjoyed admired Didaka's posts, admiring the character, bravery and honesty that shone through his words.
Also taken by Emma's thoughfulness and courage.

It was mentioned about the anonimity of facelessness of this type of communication. Maybe it isn't, maybe it's now the way friendships can be formed. Maybe it's a forum people with a common spirit can reach out and connect in a real way.
Maybe Didaka has showed, through his words and character, that the people are true, the connections are real, and lives are touched.

My thoughts are with his family, friends and extended Big Footy family..

Rest well forever Didaka...

Re: R.I.P Didaka

I didn't get a chance to talk to Didaka but was truly inspired by him. When we were up in the 3rd Quarter of GF 2 I was thinking about how much Didaka would be enjoying it...R.I.P. Didaka

Re: R.I.P Didaka

Thoughts are with his close family and friends. I hope they know/find out how inspirational his attitude to his illness was, and how appreciated his humour and strength was.

As I said on his other thread, as trite as it may seem in the cold light of life and death situations, I am even more glad that the Pies took out last years flag.

As was I, I was thinking of friends, some of whom I've long lost contact with, and how much they'd be enjoying that moment. And I thought of Didaka... having never met the guy.

A fair illustration of how much he and his battle had inspired us.

Vale Brent/Didaka. :(
