D-Day for Didaka

Re: R.I.P Didaka

Tragic loss, you will not come across a more positive, brave or witty person and I can't not imagine how hard this loss will be for those close to him. RIP Didaka you truly inspired many of us, whilst still managing to be one of the funniest posters around.

Re: R.I.P Didaka

R.I.P Didaka, you were one of the best posters on here

Always a positive bloke, never wanted to put himself first or complain, just took it head on and will be remembered as a hero. He also was the man who got me to enquire at the doctors about checking for bowel cancer but they told me it was a waste of time until I was much older, but this concerns me greatly, does anyone know if it was running in the family?

This makes me all the more nervous to get checked for everything imaginable, because you can never be too careful.

I think the board should do something in Didaka's honour... maybe name the Magpies Poster of the Year the Didaka medal or something? I don't know, but something.

All the best wherever you are mate, and I hope that you're looking down on the Pies, and help guide us to another premiership.

Re: R.I.P Didaka

I read the thread when he was first diagnosed, and remember hoping everything would work out well for Didaka. Every time I saw Didaka's name pop up as the last poster in a thread, I spared a thought for him, and somehow thought that he was on the road to recovery. Seems eerie to see that he last posted only a month ago and though you can't read tone in posts, he seemed to just be one of the boys without such a massive burden to bear.

I just found out today that a mate passed away way too early because of liver failure a couple of days ago, and this just makes everything even more sobering.

Like it did when Lidge passed away, things like this transcend football and I am now somewhat comforted by the Pies breaking a 20 year drought in time for Didaka to really enjoy it.

Vale Didaka and thoughts to his girlfriend and family.

As said in the other thread, you were a good bloke and will always be remembered for your positivity. We will miss you greatly.

Watch down on us and the Pies, and we know you'll bring us another premiership mate, all the best.

Rest In Peace.

We'll be organising something. Keep posted.

Re: R.I.P Didaka

It's times like this when football doesn't matter so much. I too read didaka's thread when it first appeared, and am very sad at this news. Rest in peace mate.

Re: R.I.P Didaka

too many people are taken too early by this, i have lost count of the number of people i know that have pass away from cancer. i myself have been fighting this battle for the last 10 years, its a rough journey at times and all i have to say is that you can now rest in peace

Re: R.I.P Didaka

I don't post on here all that often, but I just had to send my best wishes to his family and friends. I am regularly on this site (just don't post that much)... and Didaka was a poster that always brought a smile to my face. He will be missed by all.

Re: R.I.P Didaka

In hindsight, fairly appropriate that the last victory Didaka got to see Collingwood have, was over Carlton. (hopefully he got to see/hear it at least)

Surely would gladden the heart of any Collingwood supporter.

Re: R.I.P Didaka

After (what i thought) was a pretty depressing match today, just read through the whole D-day thread, and it really put things into perspective.

Would have been an honor to meet you didaka/brent. You were an incredible inspiration, who had a positive attitude on every obstacle.

Best wishes to family/friends. You showed that football results aren't important, but football can bring people together in times like there.

RIP

I tell ya, I've been through so much shit over the last couple of years with illness, addiction due to my illness etc.

At time I wondered if I'd ever see the football club I love so much win a premiership. There were times when I thought I'd probably kick the bucket before it happened, and at times my prognosis hasn't been very positive.

Now I can just enjoy it. It's the best feeling I've ever felt, and I actually feel like my luck is turning.

I wonder if those boys who run out in the black and white know just how much they mean to some of us and just how much their performance can impact a persons life.

I feel invincible.

Just felt the need to quote the results of a premiership afterglow. Onya Didaka .. champion.

Thanks ODN, knowing Didaka's passion, whilst he was drawing breath, he would indeed have loved knowing that we were winning the battle against our greatest traditional rival.

And the flag last year becomes all the more sweeter for us all now, knowing the pleasure it brought our brave friend :)

Re: R.I.P Didaka

feel really sad about this, like everyone else here, i loved didaka the forum contributer, probably one of the funniest i've read

but the bloke was an absolute inspiration in just how to take bad news and work through things to give yourself the best possible outcome

will be missed, i know quicky said something will be done, put my vote in for a thread sub-title change for a couple of weeks at least to 'RIP didaka/brent'

he was obviously one tough guy, hope his family, girlfriend and friends are doing ok

rest in peace brent,
Alistair

Re: R.I.P Didaka

Shattered, never met the bloke but kept an eye on his monumental struggles with keen interest and admiration. Can't even imagine how hard this must have affected his loved ones.
He is in a better place now.
R.I.P Brent

ps. thanks for your post Swoop.

Re: R.I.P Didaka

I saw this as the most current thread when I scrolled down the list of team boards.

Just wanted to say RIP and add my best wishes to you guys.

From everything that has been said, it sounds like he was a top bloke. RIP.

Re: R.I.P Didaka

RIP Didaka - didn't know him at all, but sounds like a great bloke and its excellent to see the camaraderie and sentiments in these threads. Too sad.
