Re: In Memory of Didaka

The club definitely needs to know about Didaka, his inspirational sprit and how he touched so many people's lives. I will try my hardest these next few days to make the club aware of such a great person who is now a shinning star above us all.

Extremely sad news :(
My heartfelt wishes go out to those who were close to him ,particularly his family and girlfriend, whom he spoke so lovingly of .

It must have also warmed his heart to find a great bunch of collingwood supporters and friends on BF ,whom he openly shared his highs and lows with and was able to find comfort in it, despite his own life and and death struggle..

Sadly missed...... RIP

Re: In Memory of Didaka

So moving to read these posts, I want to also express my gratitude to the BF community and the larger Footy family.

May i also thank Quicky for his wonderful selection of five of Brents posts.
I have read them a number of times today, they evoke so many feelings..
I have given them to my two sons to read, they convey a life message i could not possbly express as Didaka has done.
Spirit, love, respect, courage, joy, passion, humour, all weaved in there is his warm honest words.

Like many other Collingwood and other supporters, Didaka and those close to him will figure strongly in our thoughts as we stand awaiting the Anzac Day game...

Re: R.I.P Didaka

I remember chancing upon threads and reading about Brents battle. I could only be in awe of his bravery in the face of so much adversity. His strength was amazing and in all honesty, i envied that trait of his.
Although i never met him personally, he was the type of person who you knew would be such a great person to befriend. His life was taken away much too soon, and he remained brave till the very end. Condolonces to all his family and loved ones- your lives have been richer for knowing him.

Re: In memory of Didaka

Damn, Ive read his D-Day thread.
Whatever happens on ANZAC Day and even if get flogged there are more important things in life

RIP Didaka (Brent)

Exactly right, we all gather here to read and discuss footy, but tragic events like this put it in perspective.

Some of the posts highlighted are absolutely mind blowing and incredibly inspirational, never read anything like that in my life

Condolences to everyone close to Brent, and anyone who had the please of meeting him.

RIP Didaka, side by side forever.

Re: R.I.P Didaka

This thread caught my attention from the team boards, RIP Didaka, condolences to any family/friends/loved ones that read this thread.

Emma u are a legend for informing us of this in such sad times for u and everyone concerned, thankyou.

Didaka to me was a smart and very very funny poster who never got angry on the board, the laid back and witty person he was will always be remembered, very very sad news and i am deeply sad to hear such a young enthusiastic guy has lost his battle.

R.I.P Didaka, i never met you but quality is quality and you were just that.

Condolences to Brent's family and Emma.

Re: In Memory of Didaka

When a person dies, there's often an uprising of emotion which seems to be based only loosely on the truth of who that person was. But today, reflecting on the bits I know of Didaka, I can't help but feel he was someone pretty special. Somehow, he managed to touch so many of us very deeply with his very personal posts. He entered a lot of our hearts and minds - not because he asked it - but because of the pain, courage and dignity we read in his online thoughts. There was a clarity there, which, perhaps we can only strive for, when our minds are otherwise cluttered with lesser issues.

A lot of grown men are tearing up today over someone they never met. You've made us better.

Vale, Didaka.

Re: R.I.P Didaka

Ever since I read Emma's post last night, I can't stop thinking about him. I was really touched by Didaka's story, I followed it from the beginning.

Cancer has always been my greatest fear having lost both my parents to it at an early age.

About 18 months ago, my brother was also diagnosed with bowel cancer and Didaka offered his advice and said I could ask him questions anytime.

My brother had surgery yesterday and today was told there is more cancer and he's terminal :( Tragedy has struck my family again. Could have really used some advice from Didaka right now, his courage & strength were amazing.

I never met him but I'll never forget him.

Ah shit...reading the other thread just reminds us of the things we all share and our common humanity I guess.
As much as it's possible, I hope it goes easy for you. Having lost two people to liver cancer, I know there's tough times ahead.

Good luck and to Didaka's friends and family, much sympathy.

Re: R.I.P Didaka

Saw the thread and recognised the name ... saddened to hear. :(

RIP didaka.

Guess there is a shine on the Saints losing the 2010 GF after all. Happy you got to see your Magpies win a premiership. Nary a more universally respected poster around these parts - top bloke.

Not much more I can say, really.

Re: R.I.P Didaka

Have seen his posts around the boards but didn't really know him. Terrible news for all that knew him so my sympathies to them and condolences to his loved ones. R.I.P.

Re: In memory of Didaka

Can someone let the club know - would be great to see black armbands for ANZAC day. Side by Side and to lose such a fighter should be acknowledged.
Still tearing up.

Might be worth twittering the skipper this thread to have a look at, if not one of us then all of us. He certainly won't let us down with a gesture of some sort, perhaps even just a black armband on Dids would be brilliant on such a big day.

Re: In Memory of Didaka

Really don't know what to say!

The most moving thing I have ever read and the strength that all of us can take out of Didaka's words and life surrounding footy is something thta can never be taken for granted.

Now it is up to us to take action and use the memory of Didaka to make a change in our lives no matter how big or small. We owe it to Didake, ourselves, our family and friends.

Thankyou Didaka and RIP bro!

Re: In Memory of Didaka

I've emailed Joffa and twitted Daisy, Maxy and the pies. Hopefully someone will see it and respond.

Jaxter, I can promise you I am equally as inspired and devasted by the words in Didaka's post (I wish I had seen them earlier), but the above bolded bit won't happen.

A few of us here on BF where trying to organize some guys from the club to visit him. I pm'd Jonathon B last year and he was aware of Didaka's plight, also some some guys here where in touch with the club. So hopefully someone visited him.
I cant find Jonathon B on the members list to inform him of Didaka's passing.
