Ugly,

You love those late tips. Are you flicking back through the pages and checking out your competitors tips before releasing your wisdom??

Having a beer tonight? Before a game?? I guess the veteran players are allowed a little slack!

Cheers DG

LM,

I saw you tried to liven things up the other week with your Dineen/Hailibury gags. Can you tell us who you play with in A-Grade?Perhaps some of us here will share some common ground with you!!
And perhaps try and steal you for next season!

Some danger games in these conditions. 2 upsets on the cards and the possibility of a third. Y.V will get up over Ruop and Banyule will be the big upset over O.G. And B.T will have to be switched on to aviod a scare from the Leos.
Hey Ugly or Bullant 10. What about those old timers running around in the seconds. The same names keep popping up. One i didnt mention was Parris. He was a gun in the 90's.

ease up DG- I was a veteran once- many years ago! perhaps now an old fossel would be a more accurate description. I am starting to build a bit of profile on you thou - word on the street is that you are still a very handy player - doing plenty of good work with a particular club based in south yarra..... dark hair - lowish number!

Ugly out!

YV V Rupo
Mentone V Therry
Banyule V OG
BT V St Leos
Prahran V OC

Good luck to all and have an injury free saturday!

OM's VFL boys not released, therry would be very happy about that.
Waters released for BT
Ugly, Is Ryan Bain playing again?

Ugly reckons:

OC by 29 points
OGs by phone numbers
BT by 10 goals plus
YV on the smaller ground to beat Rupo
OM's at home in a walk in the park over Therry (and all their superstars....)

Ryan Bain is playing again...

Only fishing Ugly. I think i know who you are, but i'm not 100% If you give me the ok to have a guess on forum i will. But i respect the anonomity of guys involved at a club. If you are not a player, let me throw out a theory. If you are i will keep it to myself.

DG

I trust that you perhaps are a very good fisherman DG. I will have no problem disclosing my identity at the completion of the season - not that it will interest many....as I am just a mere AMMO supporter that loves his club.

Good luck to all the teams today

Framing the market, would look like this:

BT 3.00
OC 3.75
OG 4.50
Rupo 9.00
YV 15.00 think they can catch rupo if they stay fit
Therry 40.00
OM 50.00
Write your own ticket the others.

Relegation odds

Prahran 1.33( if in fact scicluna, Mccudden, Sleight , Stafford are back.. can they beat the odds??)
ESL 2.40
Banyule 3.30
OM's 15.00
Therry 41.00
YV 80.00

few changes
Quickest - Old Geelong
Most skillful - Old Geelong.- dont rate this. find BT, OC, Rupo, Yv all more skillful- YV not let down by skill or size, fitness is issue
Biggest forwards - Yarra Valley
Best Forward - Parton, Vickers-Willis, Chivers,J Bannister-rate him more highly than Corey as a more complete forward package
Best Midfield - Old Carey, great depth
Best Backline - Bulleen Temp
Most Physical - BT- close second Banyule.. very phsyical for a young side..watch Scicko.. will win a comp best and fairest one day if he can stay focused.
Best Ruckman - Ballard, Basell- both comprehensively beat Rady who is still somehow considered pinnacle.. but would now rate about 5th.. Waters would be here if he had played enough.. also rate Banule ruckmanBest onballers - Collins, Crotty.
Best Coach - Barnes
....

Thought i'd log in. Very disappointing day for the Rupo team. The most disappointing fact about today was as YV got the ascendancy in the 2nd quarter we became undisciplined. Backchatting and generally showing frustration. To fight back and get within a couple of goals was good, but as soon as YV got the ascendancy in the last quarter we started becoming undisciplined again. If you were watching us today you would have called us spoilt brats. Los of work to do!

The ground was a bog. I said Rupo's ground was only average YV's is terrible. Still 19 goals by them suggests there skill level in these conditions were exceptional. Some of the one grab marking both down back and forward was tremendous by YV. We suffered a couple of important injuries however YV lost one of the Drew brothers early. Don't know how serious (he could hardly Walk), but looking at their seconds there is't much to pick from.

Looking forward to a true turnaround in the coming weeks. Write us off at your own peril.

you are a good man Kingbrown. Thanks for the report.

Tell me what you thought of YV? Apart from the ground - worst in the comp by a mile....

How bad are the Rupo injuries?

I hope collins Captain #19) was not the one leading the internal abuse again like he did against BT?

Bt ordinary today. Worst we have played all year. 40 point wins should feel better than this. in saying that...ESL tried their guts out - Buckle did a good job on Chivas and Ballard was great in ruck all day.

Didn't see any games, just caught the scores. It is officially a 3 horse race. OC, OGS and BT. 2 of these sides will be playing C-Grade next year. Anyone other than Prahran, Leos and Banyule could make 4th. With Rupo's form, you may only need 10 wins to make 4th. Top 3 are certs. As the season goes on, the gap will get wider. BT are the form side, whilst OGS and OC have great depth and could have 5-6 injuries and still be far too strong for the other 7 teams.
A top 2 finish is so important. From there, you only need 1 win from 2 attempts to jump up a grade. I think the Rupo / YV result showed the gap forming between the top 3 sides and the rest. OC looked plenty better than YV, yet Rupo struggled today against them.
Unfortunately kingbrown, i am going to write you off as a genuine Grand Final chance this year. You guys may still finish 4th, but i could not see you pulling off 2 wins agains the big 3 come finals time.
Anyone else got some match reports?? Carey boys, Therry??

DG

Ugly I heard that Matthews and Williams both kicked 5 each for BT can you confirm? pretty amazing that 2 of the older players still so dangerours, does this add weight to recent posts enquiring about other senior (older) players still playing in the reserves that are in the best players?
Is the BT strength its veterans?

Why worst game of year in what areas?

As you do on a Saturday when you get home alone at 1.30 in the morning, looking for some useless stats !
The VAFA website team stats shows players names number of games etc.

There has been lots of talk on this thread about injured players or players coming back etc, here are my findings (before todays games)
Number of players that have played at least 1 senior game this year per team:

BT :43
OM :40
Ban :39
Rup :38
OC : 37
TP :37
ESL :37
OG :35
YV :35
Pra :33

What does this mean some had more injuries than others, or depth is such that playesr are elevated or dropped any thoughts?

By the way tipped 5 this week think I'll go back out and have another beer to celebrate!
:thumbsu: :thumbsu: :thumbsu: :thumbsu:

Bit lonely on here at his time!

I was at the Therry game today, and Therry were good all day the umpires and I don't know there names sorry guys, basically cheated there is no other explanantion. Therry must have had no more than 10 free kicks all day OM's 40 and about 6 in front of goal. Therry had a player sent of for attacking the ball. I mean if the game has now stopped a player going hard and fast at the ball why do we play the game!!
Positive notes, Forster Knight down back was BOG and O'Connor up forward with 6, should have kicked 10 for the amount of times he was held hit or taken out when the ball was coming down!
Must win for them next week or they could be looking at D2 and not finals....
Keep up the good posts guys

No arguments about the condition of Domeney. It was amazing how bad our ground got in the space of a week. It was fine to train on it on Tuesday. Yarra went for about the last 45 minutes of the game with only one fit man on the bench. The Knees Road end of the ground was definitely the scoring end, each quarter was won by the team kicking in that direction.

It seemed Rupertswood were trying to play dry weather football in these conditions and our pressure forced them to cough the ball up. You are right, King Brown, it definitely seemed like there was a lot of arguing going on amongst teammates and after it was a pretty evenly matched game at 3/4 time (we were two goals up, but Rupo had outscored us by three in the third quarter), we thought Rupertswood would give it a massive shake in the last quarter, but they finished the game off with barely a whimper. I thought #32 was great for you guys and #19 (Collins?) got plenty of the footy. You've got some great lookalikes in your team, too, dead ringers for Riewoldt and Troy Luff! Couldn't believe how long your coach kept your boys out on the ground after the game, I'd imagine he wouldn't have been too happy.

One negative though, when Rob Drew went down, I'll admit there didn't look like there was much in it at the time and the way he was hobbling around after a free kick got paid, you may have thought he was staging (The Rupertswood coaching box certainly seemed to have this view). Yet, when he had to be carried off the ground, as he couldn't walk, your coaches box started laughing very loudly, I thought that was an absolute disgrace and poor sportsmanship towards a player who is undoubtedly one of the very best in our comp. The three Drew brothers are three of the toughest footballers I've seen and for Rob to go off in that fashion indicated that he was in a great deal of pain. To your player's credit, he went straight over to Rob and apologised as Rob was getting taken off, but as far as I'm concerned your coaches box was much worse than the players as far as whinging and b**ching went.

Phil Valoppi got BOG for us, with Trend, Lecordier, Ash Drew, Britt (first game back) and Stone other good players for us. Keema kicked a few snags in his first game back and with Herbie Hancock back this week, along with a number of other senior players, the competition for spots will be massive and we are going to Old Geelong with the intention of winning.

Yeah, he was a last minute withdrawal for the OC game, kicked four I think yesterday. Stevo out for a while, spiral break of the fibula, he's had some shocking injuries over the years and he will definitely be missed, one of the most popular, most courageous and best players going around at YV. He won our B&F by a country mile last year at CHB and was a consistent goalkicker and target playing at CHF this year. I guess the silver lining for the club is that Britt came back yesterday after about a month out and Hancock returned from overseas, yesterday and will be a definite starter against Old Geelong.
