Really good effort from Leo's on Saturday. I think the BT supporters will agree that we had as much of the play as them, and as many inside 50's. The only difference was that BT took their opportunities, and their key forwards stood up, and Leo's didn't.

Not so sure Ugly suggest that it was BT worst effort for the year?
Reading the best players the names of McKenzie , Baranello , Ballard all missing bad days or BT matched up well?

Wish i could head down to the TAB and put $100 on YV for the flag. After turning on the computer and finding out about Laing and his courage, Yoe with his intimidation and Embley like stature. Peake, Stoney, Keem, Lecordier and of course SAVAGE (trying to keep this one quiet!)
Trend and his poise, Britt, Hancock, Beal, Lear, etc who are guns in the wet! as well as Drews and Stevo...........they are a team full of champs!

IMO both OG and OC remain the best chances to progress to C grade...BT have beaten OC, OG YV and Rupo and with R Bain from Essendon and T Waters back from Port Melbourne, they can not be underestimated. Ugly/Bullant, my spies tell me neither Ryan or Matt Bain played v St Leos?? Just resting Ryan after his first game back at the large Como oval?? What about Matt - BOG v OG then missing?? Injured or playing VFL??

Is that So - great work re the player stats..to be on the net at 1:30am on any website other than www.bigjuggs.com suggests to all of us that you are clearly an ammo football nut, gay or the Qwill (or all three). Either way, I dips my lid to you my friend...

Archangel17 (best name on this thread imo) - they are some handy names returning at Prahran. Can you confirm that they are playing again?

And finally, to the Carey posters...any truth in the rumour that Carey have been playing their reserves team in the seniors all year and have 21 guns returning from injury, overseas, retirement, interstate, Guantanemo Bay and the International Space Station in the coming weeks....if we take this thread as gospel, it appears that there is a whole other side sitting mysteriously by the sideline ready to come back in the next few weeks....:)

Had a look at some teamlists online. i think the Prahran rumours are mostly ****.. but will eat my words if they turn up on Saturday. What i can say is that Stafford and Scicluna are playing, but they are not enough to save them. Looking at OC teamlists, noticed a few familiar names, who seem to have only recently appeared in reserves. T Collins, T Wood, T Bull, N Bull, Willingham, Williams, Faelis who have all been senior players when i saw OC play last year and this, apparently there is some kid called JC who is super quick and tearing up the reserves ,maybe ? J carpenter, initials would suggest this but with nicknames you never know.. maybe he walks on water.?maybe courtot ?,dont know him myself, . I know both Carpenter and Courtot were good against the bears, and were in best again this week. Can anyone tell me anything about JC? Who is he, how good is he, and will he play senior football in coming weeks??

I have heard a rumour.. that ex Carey FF, son of the scribe and coach has been sighted around the club. Chris? Hickey i think his name is. He would be about 35, but was always super fit. I remember him kicking ten in a half against a certain side i used to run around with, and he was unbeatable that day. Can anyone from the new OC confirm or deny this??

I couldnt agree more. Is someone prepared to take this bet? I will get on. Yeo is very intimidating. very Embley like, and Savage, wow. I know why you are keeping this one quiet. He must be underrated. I know our coach never mentioned him as a threat, maybe as not to frighten us.

Though seriously i would like to see Yarra make the finals , they have fought hard against a lot of adversity over the years, and maybe deserve it, though i dont think they can win it. Matty Laing is a top bloke and top footballer, though thought he had retired this year???

All three played - but were only average. Some of the lesser lights stood up. We were really happy with our work around the ground - but a lot needs to be done with forward setup and goalkicking during the week. The commitment was there, the finish wasn't. Make no mistake - however - BT were too good. Just saying our effort was OK.

Chris "Hedgie" Hickey will not be making a comeback. Great bloke, great player, but well and truly has hung up the boots. I saw him the week before last at the OCarey vs YValley game at Bulleen. Just supporting. Always goes to a handful of games a year as he has young kids.

Looks like the OG's confirmed their status in the top line of betting along with OC, BT, with a regualtion comfortable victory over Banyule at Banyule - a very good effort I'd think. Puts Banyule in the mix now for relegation, although a 2 game break is a long way to bridge for the Animals and the Two Blues. Makes for some big eight point games in the coming weeks.

Speaking of which, had heard there were some issues with regard to umpiring at the Prahran/Carey game, with a couple of OC boys red carded and reported early doors, however their names didn't appear on the tribunal listing. Questions for any of the OC boys, I assume that explains the Two Blues close proximity at half time or have they improved. You dominated the second half as you would expect against the bottom side. Also the mail was that Beven might be back for Prahran in the last six or seven games. That might add some spice to the relegation battle given Banyule's loss again on the weekend. Any whispers from Saturday.

Good mail on the Yarra win from all you posters, they're looking ok at the minute although wouldn't get too carried away about a win over the perhaps flailing Rupo. A struggling victory over Banyule and three losses in the last four games is hardly the mark of a side on the up. Will be interesting to see how Rupo responds in the next few weeks, danger game against the Two Blues this week, while the boys from Domeney may be on the march. Note this poster was one of the few that gave them some chance at the beginning of the year, and I do enjoy being right!!!

OM's & Therry, looks like Therry wasted some opportunities given the scoring shot count, but it was tailor made for a OM's victory being at Keysie, with Therry missing its key onballers and Corey Bannister. Probably has ensured D1 footy for the boys next year which is great and now they can set their sights on a spot in the finals perhaps. Therry's percentage is handy, but where will their wins come from. They've won four and with seven sides to play, they have only beaten two of them, Banyule & Leos, so losing one or both of those will have them in the mire.

As for BT, very solid win, really look like they're setting themselves for a big second half of the year. With Easton at the helm who has been in charge of some successful sides in the past, they really are starting to look ominous. As for the Animals, the scent of relegation avoidance would definitely be in its nostrils and look for them to cause some damage in the coming weeks.

Keep up the good work lads.

Cheers

You would have to admit there are some handy names in there Moss Rocket...

It appears that YV, Carey and to a lesser extent BT are looking towards the return of key players in the 2nd half of the season. If all 3 sides deliver what they are promisisng (in terms of the inclusions hinted at in previous posts), it may be that this could edge each in front of Old Geelong come September??

For YV to be a genuine threat (this year and beyond), they probably need to look at redeveloping their ground. As good as they have been recently, finals are not played and won on the type of ground they are tailoring their game to.

Nice postings gents. Very nice indeed.
You were being a bit harsh on Toohas weren't you Rocket?? He was just giving names to the numbers that he received enquiries on!

I think this weeks match OGS vs YV may be a season defining moment. Are YV about to jump to the upper echelon with a massive away win against the OGS? Will the OGS slip 2 matches behind the OC and BT??

Big week!

Re all those impressive stats Mr So! I think the bests may be a little misleading, as often sides like to post best lists that are a little misleading, so as to avoid opposition teams targetting those players.

Cheers - DG

Agree with you on that one DG, YV v OG will be a massive game. YV slapped the Oggery last time, but have done so to most teams on their ground. YV from Saturday were massive, never seen so many 6'5 100kg plus men in the one place ever. Toohas, is it a pre-requisite to play at YV that you need to be over a certain size? Huge. Their ground suits them to a T. They did appear to lack a little bit of depth, although there were a couple in the twos who wouldn't look out of place in the ones. As for us down at the Rupi, the 6-0 start to the year was fantastic, probably flattered us a little bit but couldn't have dreamed of anything better having come up from D2 last year, been brought back down to earth now and realise that D grade footy is tough, good quality where any game can go either way. (e.g: BT 8 goals down v YV, actually, BT down against anyone!) Having said that, 7 games to go we are in a great position to have a real crack at finals, which for a promoted side is a mighty effort in anyones book.
KingBrown as a fellow Rupi, what do we need to get the form back? Who can come back and give us a needed lift? Injuries do hurt but we have excellent depth, both in the 2's and 19s.
Looking forward to another super week of footy ;)

A well measured assessment of performance thus far. Others should take note i.e - Sandra.

Oggery to avenge against the Valley this week. Many 100kg + blokes on the wide expanses of Como - no thanks.

Boys... I did a Triathon on the weekend......massive ride out to Yarra Valley....ran a half marathon down to the actual oval from our dodgy change rooms that were made for under 8's... then did a 1500m swim in the puddle which was located in the middle of the cricket pitch which was made of loverly carpet burning material. I actually had to throw a life saving poiency ring to 2 of the littler blokes who could stand up in the deep water.
We weren't as bad as the score board suggests, going into the last quarter we were only 3 1/2 goals down... couple of desisions went there way, and a few lucky bouncers and deflections and all of a sudden we are 7 goals down..... can assure you we will get back on the winners list this week against the two blues.... and i have confidence in OG's to beat YV (Og's a class above YV) to regain our 2 game buffer in the 4.
Phar lap.... What has happened to the red headed Ape men down at Oak Park??? They are better than this!!! something must be wrong.

Please Note: ILSS understands he made a couple of spelling errors in the previous post... so all you sponge heads who are ready to pounce on me for this... don't bother.... save energy for your chess tournaments coming up on the weekend.

Dudley, we have a few players who were excellent at the start of the year who are down on confidence. We need to lift these blokes, back them and believe in them. We also have to realise why we are playing. We are firstly and foremostly playing to enjoy the game we love ,we must have fun. The few losses have really dented a few guys with the bigger bodies we come up against taking it,s toll. To sustain the fantastic performance over OC was unrealistic. At the time we probably peaked. We must strongly focus on no response to any umpiring we are seeing as unfair. We would all agree we have a very young list and should be building a foundation over 5-6 years and take everything as a bonus in 2006.

We do have depth in the reserves but not big man depth. The losses of Temming, Glenn and McGovern have not helped in our size department
Mitch Gaunt is ready to play seniors and should make a welcome return.

Toohas, i'm with you mate, when we started talking about your team it has become very apparent you have a talented list. I agree though a better ground would help. If we miss out i'll be barracking for YV.

ILSS another brilliant post. No doubt every contributor waits with bated breath on every word. I think those two blokes were still stuck in the mud on Sunday, got out drove home and arrived back in Sunbury early Monday morning. It's a long way to YV, similar to all the teams coming to Sunbury.

Is that So, you have become an inspired contributor

Ugly, your weather report was not as statistically brilliant as your Week 1 effort. Take a leaf out of Is That So.

Pharlap, wheres Ox?

After me last post which included some stats on best players named and how frequently etc, there was some suggestion that perhaps some clubs do not name their best players in their best players so as to hide them from other clubs. (Conspircy theorists alive and well)

all of the players listed are good players, so dont think they are smokies.. however in a few clubs' cases there seems to be a a few keys being left out..probably deliberatly.. soem clubs seem worse than others. Yv, OC, Og, but all seem to do it to some extent.. i really dont know Rupo, so someone else may have to comment on them.

you have obviously not been playing AMMOS long ILSS.. whilst i agree the changerooms at YV are shoddy, i can think of almost a dozen more that take the cake.. The one that stands out is West Brunswick where you do run a marathon before the game, to get from the worst change rooms in the comp. But can think of many more.. Maybe this should be a thread.'The worst changerooms are"

I would have to say Yarra Valley were very ordinary change rooms, but so far in D1 Therry Penola take the cake!!!

Pharan have been by far the best.
