News just in: 90% of D Grade give me something tipsters miss out on a valuable point because they tipped Yarra to beat rupo...
You should all beg DG Man to allow you to change your tips!!!!
Don't come winging to me on Monday morning when we have won.... because all i will have for you is 6 words: The Great Lady told you so!

Are there wineries out Yarra Valley way??? I Love Sandra Sully might have to overnight it.....

Beware ILSS...YV's ground is a small, windswept arrangement with a 'challenging' playing surface at best. Your boys will struggle..."No joy for you - come back, one year".

NB.The after match facilities however are superb - and it is in here that I would expect your boys to shine.

Word is there is no surface....... It's a complete bog.... Can anyone confirm???
Not bog, but no carpet surface like the manicured ground (not middle) that O.C. have. Which club has the best surface?
P.S. Trinity spent all their doe on B grade flags but obviously didnt have enough to get an A grade one.

The Oggery is a great ground to play on IMO. The front oval at Bulleen (Old Carey) is awesome. Only problem is when you get the yarra floods down there; Marc, Trinity and Carey go under water, and playing surface, after flood subsides, can be a little heavy and tacky!
They are the best two. Domoney is average at best. OM's is a windswept nightmare, BT's is ok, Leos aint too bad. Rupo?? Only seen 1 game there and it looked ok. Prahran can get very heavy (Close location of Orrong Hotel for halftime bet on the horses, means this is rated better than most)
Never been to Banyule or Therry!

Keep the tips coming in! Go D1:)

Back in the olden days when we were in D4, Eltham OC had a brilliant ground... the surface was one of the best... and to top it off had the use of the school facilities after the game (Not sure what school?) ... Nothing like playing a hard game of footy and then jumping in the indoor pool to recover.

ILSS - Old Eltham Collegians do play at a school...funnily enough, its called Eltham College :)

Old Carey playing surface and associated facilities wins hands down. Junction Oval great..and Como not far behind...Marcellin and Harry Trott not bad either. Uni Blues have the best shower set-up (so many showers - so little time) - too bad the polished floorboards in the away rooms means you slip on your ass in your boots every 5 minutes....

Both Ivanhoe/Assumption & Therry's grounds (although I have not seen it in 3 years) make Domeney Reserve look good. Used to struggle to find a blade of grass at Parade too!

Parkside's ground in the Footscray League was one of the best I have been on (think its called the Merv Hughes Oval). Brooklyn and West Footscray amongst the worst I have seen. Springvale Districts have to sweep their ground for syringes before an SFL official will give the all-clear the morning of every home game...

FYI - Think St Leos may get over BT this week.

Nice work conduct! ILSSully.....you are a funny man. I'm going to give you the benefit of the doubt and assume that you knew what the OC in Eltham stood for, and that you were just being funny. But somehow i think i may be wrong!?!?!:D

If BT are going to lose one, it seems it is only going to be at home. Let's hope not this week, as they have a big night on Saturday with the big fundraising auction night (Can all read about this on the VAFA website)

Good luck with it all Bullant families and friends. A difficult night, but an important one for the family. Best of luck with it all!!!!!:thumbsu:

Agree with you DG. Sarah Bone was a lovely girl and the Bone family are great people and supporters of the club (Sarah's brothers are ripping blokes). I tipped an ESL win on face value - not realising the significance of the day (should have read the VAFA website I guess).

I take it back with my tail between my legs - BT won't let this one slip on such an important day. From all reports the fundraising night is a sell-out - a fantastic outcome for a fantastic family.

We will not lose this one. A big day for all Bullants!

OC by plenty
OGS by plenty
BT by plenty
OM's back on track
Rupo to just get the job done (biggest game of the round by far, a real season shaper. Having said that though, all games can throw up a surprise so we wont really know until rnd18 is come and gone)
Cheers

This week has probably been the best week in the D1 footy forum. The beers tonight at Rupo were bloody good. Seems like Collegians, Section One Under 19's has pulled the pin on the game on Saturday. This is as weak as ****, i don't care what there excuse is. This club is on top of "B: Grade and played in the Grand Final of Under 19 section 1 last year. This is a joke. This is a negative for Amateur Footy. Collegians your a disgrace. You beat us 2 years ago in the second semi in Division 2 went on to win the premiership by over 100 pts and you cant front up 18 months later to a division 1 game.

On a brighter note looking forward to a great round of D1 footy on Saturday.

Seems that all the scribes are putting their team of the half year down, so why don't we help ours by posting thoughts in the this forum .

My thoughts on ball and forwards as follows:

Ruck: Waters BT, Radywonik Prahan

RR: Parton OC , Shepherd Muller - Banyule, Mackenzie ESL

Rov: Collins OC, Fleming OM,

HFF: Chivas BT CHF: Basile OM HFF: Vickers Willis OG

FP: Lecordier YV FF: Banister TP FP: Tiras OC

Thoughts?

Kingbrown, thats big news! FYI, a few years back Collegians went to U19 Section1 (their seniors were in A Grade at the time) after winning the Section 2 premiership..and when they came up against the reigning Section 1 premier in Marcellin...guess what they did? They forfeited that day too....seems to be history repeating itself this year?

Before we all get too upset though, everyone would know that East Keilor (Essendon District A Grade) pulled the pin at half time of their senior game last weekend! And Seddon seniors (in A Grade Footscray District) have folded half way through the season (rumoured to be interested in re-forming and entering D4 next year!!). Thats pretty sad for local footy.

Sorry long time no post, I see therry have been struggling the past few weeks. Is this because of Injuries or just being beaten by better sides. I have heard a rumour though that they will be playing a 2 pronged attack on Saturday, if I wasn't playing I would be going down to watch the 2 ff's have a field day!
Also can someone tell me when Therry play Rupo, as I have read all the banter on here and maybe that one will be match of the round

Not sure Therry's two pronged attack will be able to secure a win down at OM's. But we will wait and see!
Therry play Rupo (at Rupo) in rd 14 (29/7) This will be a big one. If Therry are still a chance at sneaking into 4th at that stage of the season, it will probably be Rupos place they will be eyeing off!

Still waiting on some tips gents!

G'day Creeker.

Have heard that G.O'Connor is the second man in that 2 pronged attack you were talking about.

Not sure about McWhinney, but believe he is right to go.

Another rumour Circulating is that Mick Goodwin may be coming back to pull the boots on!! Would be a huge boost for the club...:thumbsu:

Knackers 29

I heard that The Chief has been playing Warriors down at Therry. Is he making a comeback??? He was the best ruckmen by a street in A & B grade some years back. If he does play!! I feel sorry for D1 ruckmen coming up against a 6 10" monster!!!

Very interesting Half Back. There is no doubt he was one of the best in the business. Out of interest I had a look on the VAFA website, and his name has appeared in the last couple of weeks in the goals and best....Love to see a comeback from the angry Giant!! imagine rucking against that:eek:

I also hear that club champion, a grade rep Jason Reddick is making a return. I here he is currently the runner and looks as good as he ever did! Experince is the key here and I would say they are looking at a return to c grade next year........is it to late though!!
Also heard the "Easty" was back from New York. Any one know about that

I think it is a little too late. 3-4 inclusions cannot cover the fact that the club is struggling. Losing at home to a side that was 0-9 (28 scoring shots to 15) is just way off finals pace.
They would need to win virtually all games for the remainder of the season. They play tough away games against OM's, YV, BT and Rupo, as well as having to face up against the OGS and OC. Can't really see them making it!
Important to ensure some of these key late season ins, hang around and play a full season next year.
C grade 2008 would be a great goal for the whole club to push towards!!
