In other games I have had second hand information via several different people (ie: who the hell knows how accurate it is):

Old Paradians gave MHSOB a bit of a touch up be around 10-12 goals.

St Johns lost to St Leo's by about 8 goals, but St Johns had quiet a few out.

we also lost to Old Westbourne in Round 1 (about 7 years ago I think in D3) by over 20 goals and finished the year playing them in the grand final!

Oh Yes, Crazy and TTP - I remember that day ...... one of the state rep guys kicked 3 on me and took mark of the year in the first 5 minutes after I told him "bad luck, you got me today!". Ouch. I slide forward after that and slotted 4 ......but wasn't quiet enough to get us over the line! LOL
Damn they (OH) had a great team that year with 5 or 6 guys on VFL/Rookie lists.

As for Old Westbourne - yup - R1 got smacked by 23 goals and were about 11 points down at 3/4 time in the GF that same year against them. They ran away with it in the end by about 40 points as the 3 finals that year took a toll in the end with some of our best players sitting on the bench for most of the last 40 minutes injured. Bugger.

Northern Blues vs Parade I'll have to go with the raiders here.Match of the round.
Elsternwick vs Monash Gryphons Friendly rivals. I will have to see the ins and outs for this one. University form is hard to pick. Like a broken nose.
Eltham vs South Melbourne. Home team here. Depends on how many cricketers missing from Turtles squad and how many juniors Sth "blood" from the U19's and MSJFL. Being such a big ground.
Richmond vs Ivanhoe Bigger jump than from D4 Snakes. Will go with the Hoes.
MHSOB vs St Johns The fall continues for the Unicorns and this season doesn't look any more promising. Then again, look at Prahran and Fitzroy before them. Winless and relegated one season then invincible the next. Now that's fairytale stuff. Unfortunately, the only relevance is that Unicorns are fairy tale stuff. It ends there.

SJ over MHS.

Strange only having to worry about 10 teams. It's been 6 years or so since RC played in a 10 team comp.

Round 1 Tips

Seniors:
Elsternwick vs Monash Gryphons - this is a flip of the coin with the Wicks to get the points due to the home ground knowledge that they play so well. Wicks by 11 points.
Eltham vs South Melbourne - I believe the Turtles will be strong again this year even with the loss of a few quality palyers and coach. The Bloods on the other hand may slide a little as they invest in youth (so is the word). Combine that with the home ground the Turtles play so well and I see them running away with a 40 point victory.
Richmond vs Ivanhoe - tough one first up for my mob, but I think we can get the chocolates in the end. Hoes by 7 points.
MHSOB vs St Johns - pre-season has not be great for MHSOB and I think St Johns will welcome them to D2 with a solid win for the away team. Jocs by 39 points.
Northern Blues vs Parade - Have read all the hype about NB and it's a great achievement to win 2 in a row, but to jump again needs some solid improvement. Not saying they won't be there about by seasons end, but I think OP's will beat them in a close one. OP's by 9 points.

Twos:
Monash over Wicks - have more depth.
Turtles over Sth easy me thinks.
Hoes to kick off the season with a win over the snakes by a couple.
St Johns in another big win for the club in round 1
Op's to sneak past NB by a point.

We are a week out and can't wait for it all to kick off.

Ladder predictions anyone?

Seniors

Eltham- Home ground is a big ask for anyone to beat them on, tough strong bodied side who should finish top 2
St Johns- Once again plenty of hype around St Johns in preseason
Ivanhoe- Young team last year, another preseason and expect a bit from them
Northern Blues- Triple jump will be hard, but expect them to finish around the four
Parade- Haven't really heard anything about Parade, if they still have DB in the forward line could beat anyone on their day
Richmond- Impressive depth, their twos could be very strong this year

Gap

South Melbourne- New coach and strong junior system could see them finish higher than this
Monash Gryphons- Just hanging on, lost some key players.
MHSOB- Hard to bounce back from a winless 2014 but have no idea where they'll finish
Elsternwick - Heard conflicting things, some say they have picked up plenty, others believe they are struggling for numbers

Elsternwick v Monash Gryphons game transferred to Cheltenham Recreation Oval, Wetherall Rd. Cheltenham.

Seems Oval No. 2 is a bit untidy at the moment. Shouldn't bother the "home" side.

Eltham vs South Melbourne - Just because you get a guy who has been at an AFL club doesn't make you an instant success (See Parade B Grade to D1) Elthan by a bit
Richmond vs Ivanhoe - Richmond win this, they would have played finals last year in D2 see no reason they wont again.
MHSOB vs St Johns - MHSON wont win a game all year and once again keep either Wicks or MG out of relegation zone.
Northern Blues vs Parade - interesting the sorties coming out about poor pre-seasons and no pick-ups for NB?? Will take Parade just.

Glen Eira and Monash were the two bottom sides last year. Monash have missed the drop two years in a row. Can't see them defying gravity three years on the trot.
Elsternwick have lost a full forward and a few but have gained some handy players back from injury and elsewhere. MHSOB are surrounded by stronger clubs and a scarcity of 'old boys' from the school. Could be a tough year. Northern Blues lack depth it seems and Div 2 is a test of a clubs' depth. Richmond v Ivanhoe will be a big test. Win this and prove your worth. St Johns are a club that promises a lot but falls short of convincing wins against the top sides. Consistency is the goal this year.
Every division upward brings contests closer. Hardly any 'walk over' games here. The ability to remain at full strength is the key.
Previous years prove this.

Cosmo, any rationale for the above comment that the Snakes would have played finals last year in D2? Not saying they won't this year, just think it's an interesting comment and that Parade, Eltham, Kew and St Marys may have been hard to displace.

Should be a good game on the weekend against my mob at KB.

Don't rate Parade or Eltham and think that everyone below them last year didn't offer a lot, Kew and St Mary's -

Watch Kew in the D3 GF the year before and RC would have pushed / beaten them last year (so would have the animals and blues would have gone close), understand they picked up a few but they stood out in D2 (along with St Mary's) Lets face it D2 wasn't very strong last year 7 - 10 wouldn't have made finals in D3 - and I don't think that fishing 4 - 6 was anything to write home about.

They would've pushed Kew last year yet they couldn't beat a D3 side in their own grand final. Righto mate

Richmond lose 2014 D3 Grand Final.... Yet Richmond would have beaten Kew last year.

Unclear what (if anything) that has to do with pushing Kew? (humor me please) Both NB and RC are in the same div you guys have been stuck in the middle of for some time now, lets see who gets out first! My money is on the two teams coming up..........
