Hazell is definately a protected species with the umpires.

Despite this, he is an extraordiarily good player when he wants to be.

........Also doesn't mind throwing an elbow here or there.

Well i think your off the mark there fella... hazel didnt seem to be overly dirty... and didnt seem to be extraordinary...

SS I noticed Hazel doesn't Like to be tagged and did give a few stomach punches on the way thru. It was puzzling to see how the umps tried to even the match up. I thought footy was a contest sport but obviously not. These guys need to let the game flow and not be over technical.

Can you shed some light as to how StJohns scored 12 goals to GE 2 after half time??? We play GE this week at home. Big game for the Bees. We lost twice to them last year by a point each time.

St Johns played better footy and kicked straight!!!

Would anyone like someone hanging off them 24/7 with no intention to get the ball at all just stop a player? In saying that though u would think that he would be used to this occurring as im sure he would be getting tagged week in week out and probably has for most of his career!!

I think he was more frustrated with someone who could actually match up quite well with him. 2 former A section players on each other, made for a good contest, though the Werribee guy was a two's player in A section.

In the second quarter Hazell slung the elbow back whilst on the ground and just missed his taggers head. Also had a couple of players running hard at him in front of the interchange and gave a cheapy to the guts of one of them. All good.

Bloods it was strange to see Hazel playing on forward line for 2 quarters. And yes he was held . played a bit beter when he went on ball but really didn't have an impact. Good players are able to still impact on a game of footy. Just wondering if he had a bit of a niggly injury. I know he is a good player and woul'nt mind him playing for us!!!

Does Cameron Lee respond well to tagging??

I heard Salesian tagged him after Quarter time?

Cam is the type of player that welcomes a challenge. Has grown a lot since StJohns tried taking him out of the comp in D3. That year he won the D3 goalkicking. So bring it on

Cool - how many after qtr time when the tag started??

to be TOTALLY honest he did bugger all after 1/4 time

kicked 4 in the first 1/4 and made salesians defence look disgraceful at best

after the tag was put on to that particular players credit he did an awesome job and shut rowdy right out

but i ask you Drifter what's the point in asking questions like that when you already know the answer? is it just to get a response? are you that bored?

C Sharp missed a couple of late ones including one after the siren to win the game. Suspected he had a injury as the first 3 quarters he kicked with his right foot then kicked the last couple with the left. Odd. Game should have been put to bed alot earlier than that though. If Aquinas had kicked straight it would have been game over.

A few reasons

Yes I am bored - its Monday and I like the weekend

I know Micky Hazell isnt dirty at all so thought Id throw it back at a few of the Werribee lads having a go about one of their own being tagged

3rdly - the 10 goal thrashing you or someone else promised us caught my attention a fortnight back so need to learn about the Tigers so we can atleast be competitive with you..

Hope no-one is offended - it was just discussing the tagging issue raised earlier

Kicked 4 goals and was still creative even when he wasn't kicking them.
So, in a word: Yes.

I think Drifters point was the two quotes above, where he did play well after 1/4 time. Good luck to him, but tell it how it is! Mick Hazell was towelled up as well, yet towelled us up a few weeks ago.

St Johns seem to be excelling at home - 3&0 this yr - beating Salesian, Banyule and GE.

Has anyone beat them there??

Aquinas had a pair of wins out there in Round 1, but the 'home ground' advantage may have been tempered by the fact that the Jocs boys hadn't been allowed on their ground for training or otherwise up until that point. have looked very good there since.

i'd like to think Drifter was trying to get the full story out for all us D2 followers who weren't at the game, as sometimes its hard to get the whole truth when Werribee propaganda machine is up and running!

SB your the tagger in question. How did you see it pan out? Was he really that dirty or just realised he had a hard match up?

Obviously you did the job as you were in the best and Hazell was'nt.

So Jocs are like us and played 4 home games out of 6.

Which teams have only played twice at home so far

They might make a move up the ladder the next 3 weeks

Only played on him for the first half.

Hazell doesn't warrant being called a dirty player, though there were some instances where his actions needed to be questioned.

As for being held onto? Hazell was zoned not held onto. So the scragging theory is out the window there.

Watched the salesian vs werribee from the sidelines and was surprised by the amount of whingeing from there supporters in the granstand during the seniors game. Then after the game, which they won, some of them went around outside the umpires rooms to continue it!!!! Anyone else noticed similar?

It looks like a very even comp this year with Bentleigh almost beating Aquinas at Aquinas. Given the fact that it was top vs bottom and there have been a lot of close results, it seems like anybody can beat anyone on the day.

With such close results it appears that some of the sides in the bottom half are getting players back from injury. Might make for a close season second half of the year!

Who are the players that got injured for the districts on sat espresso or harper? We cant but a trick with these injuries.
I think you could have a strong 2's team this week harper. The WA boys through the 2's i would expect after the great win for the boys on the w/e.
