It is truly amazing how many people have coming running to this little kids defence. Normally a wog has to rely on his cousins to come running when sh1t hits the fan.

I'm starting to think this forum is a just a "we love Monash cyber group hug"...

I've seen them play and they arent that good. Except for their full back... that guy is awesome.

FINALLY!!!! the great Gomizel gets some bigfooty recognition!!

FINALLY!!!! the great Gomizel gets some bigfooty recognition!!

Surely he's talking about Lee Wells?!?

Anyway, onto this weeks games, I must appologise to my readers for being late. There have been server issues with Bigfooty so I haven't been able to post all day.

Anyway.

Round 5

Game 1 Win Under 39.5 Over 39.5
Williamstown CYMS $1.40 $ 2.40 $ 2.70
St John's OC $2.75 $ 4.00 $ 7.05

2006 D2 Relegation showdown. East vs West. St John's haven't been setting the world on fire yet. Williamstown have. The CY's will be short to win all 9 games at home this year so on this basis, I'll take Willy by 52. Lee should kick another 10

Game 2 Win Under 39.5 Over 39.5
Hawthorn $1.90 $ 3.00 $ 4.15
Power House $1.80 $ 2.90 $ 3.80

2006 D4 GF Replay. Crucial game for both clubs with finals aspirations. Should Hawthorn win they'll be right back in the mix but go down, and they'll be floundering down near LTU and Swinburne. D.Lauletta isn't in the side again my spies tell me, and for this reason, assuming that Eddo is playing, I'll go for House but I want to change my tip if he isn't because as everyone knowsNo Eddo, No House. Eddo, House by 34. No Eddo, Hawks by 15.

Game 3 Win Under 39.5 Over 39.5
UHS-VU $2.40 $ 3.00 $ 9.60
Eltham OC $1.50 $ 2.40 $ 3.20

2007 D4 GF Replay. Eltham look to have stepped up to the grade while Boyce's boys stilave proven nothing other than they're better than La Trobe and Swinburne. Might be closer than some think with Uni High prevailing in their last encounter last year. I like the Turtles though, 16pts. Coach Hollywood might kick a bag too with an average defence thats been hurt by retirements.

Game 4 Win Under 39.5 Over 39.5
Swinburne Uni $1.80 $ 3.00 $ 3.60
La Trobe Uni $1.90 $ 3.10 $ 3.95

Huge crrowd expected at St James Park with the one of only 2 chances either of these sides have for a win this year. I'll go with the home team, by 16. Either side under 39.5 looks good here as neither side will probably get to 40 pts.

Game 5 Win Under 39.5 Over 39.5
Elsternwick $1.90 $ 2.70 $ 5.15
Monash Gryphons $1.80 $ 2.60 $ 4.70

I had Elsternwick as favourites but all the tips going with Monash had me rushing to shorten then. My ixed netball friend tells me the last time Monash beat Elsternwick, they made the finals. So it's clearly been a long time between drinks for them. This is their best chance in a long time to beat the Wicks tho. At night, away from the postage stamp, I think they will get over the line. 22 points

My Comments...

The Williamstown Drunks to stitch up the St Johns Junkies easily. Most of the St Johns team wouldn't have even travelled as far as Williamstown in their lives! Lee will celebrate his State team nomination with another big bag.

Power House Lakers to smash the Hacks in the big rivalry game at Rathmines. The Hacks still bleeding after the D4 Grand Final smashing by the House. Will Vegimite play this week? Eddo v Avery will be a big clash. No Lauletta, no Hacks.

Eltham schoolboys travel to Brens Oval to play the Zoo Keepers to replay last years D4 Grand Final. On the road trip down, the schoolboys will all be crowded at the back of their team bus looking at the Garrard brothers girly mag collection. This wont distract them and they will thankfully put Boycey back into his cage across the road.

In the Saturday NIGHT game, the Elsternwick Lawn Bowls team host the Monash Indians. There might be a no show from both teams.
The Wicks will be all tucked up in bed because it's a little too late for them to be up, while the Monash Indians will all be at someones house watching the IPL and listening to Hindi Rock. I tip the Indians here.

In the big match of the day, the Swinny Pigs host Latrobe Drinking Club. This could be the first ever nil all draw in D3 History!

I'm Dee Three...that's my take.

This post reads like you have been savoring something, or maybe too much carbon monoxide from Rathmines Road.

Willaimstown v St Johns
The Seagulls are a well disciplined outfit. Arrogant, but disciplined.
St Johns are a little down on numbers, that's true and they have a poor away record. Spider may come out of retirement....and chock.

Hawthorn v Power House.
Making excuses for Hawthorn won't wash too long. Their game is outdated. The high elbow style has been well noted for years! Maybe time to resign Jacko? Sack Barrel. 10+ years for one flag is not a good return. Maybe they could appoint their assistant coach! All over by half time, just like the GF.

UHS-VU v Eltham
Eltham willl be kicking goals while the zoo boys are still celebrating their GF win.
With the advent of GPS,they will not have trouble finding the ground or the goals for that matter.Coach Hollywood will be flattered to be regarded as a schoolboy though.

Elsternwick v Monash Gryphons
Maybe you have little or no experience in friendly rivalry? Both clubs will compete honestly and if it's not too late for you, maybe you could go down to Sportscover Arena and see a fair dinkum game of community footy played in the true spirt of the game. These clubs play for a perpetual trophy, named in honour of club champions.
Having a potshot at ethnicity is cheap . Not befitting of a scribe!!!!!

Swinburne v LaTrobe.
Maybe the girly game of soccer is your go. Nil all, please! One thing for sure, one team will open their account. No Murchie, no Higgins.....whoever wants it most. Maybe the razors?

Well said sidewinder.

In total agreeance. D3 ammo footballer reading is in recess till someone puts his hand up and has a real crack.

I must disagree, "Indians" Is a genuine team nickname now, ie. the "Mumbai Indians" & "Cleveland Indians". Clearly Dee Three is referring to a "Cowboy & Indian" kind of Indian

What an interesting day of D3 football. I saw the mighty CY's towel up a disappointing Jocs during the afternoon. Then went over to the VAFA night game expecting a close contest between the wicks and the Monash indians. But the game was all over by Qtr time. A superb coaching effort from Monash to shut down the Wickers playmakers. Y's v Indians this weekend might be closer than most people predict.
Anyone got a prediction on the final 4?

Apparently that 'little greek kid' that Pugsley referred to from Monash really got stitched up last night.... ended up kicking 4.4 against the wicks!

Not bad for a defender.....

anyone know the scores for wicks monash game? not on the vafa website, nor are willy st johns...

good hard fought contest at the zoo yesterday. turtles had the legs in the end. was wrapped to come away with the four points! hope the guy that was taken to hospital is ok too...

Saw a pretty close contest yesterday between Swinburne and La Trobe with a few La Trobe old boys. Close game up until 3/4 time when the Razors came through to nudge out the Trobers. I think La Trobe will have to do some soul searching for an on-field leader with their Capt/Coach Sheldrick out for some time with a broken wrist. Was it the state of the ground or the fact that he fell from great height after launching into, but unable to complete, one of the great marks of all time.

Correct, no Lee. It was a good test for us without having Lee on the ground and made a few of the inexperienced guys stand up - and stand up they did. With the reserves kicking 30 goals, the seniors kicking 20 and Dave Lee out, it does show the amount of depth we have in the club. The scary thing for the rest of the league is that we still have 6 guys to come back into the ones, adding more depth into the two's and making the ones even stronger. But its only 5 games so far, 13 to go, so we arent getting ahead of ourselves.

That guy can jump! He took mark of the year on my head last year. Shame because it meant i couldnt get a good look at it. I also couldnt get him off my shoulders, he may have even taken his kick while still standing up there.

No Lee yesterday for the CY`s. Injury, please explain Gold and Blue.

Wafer, Dave would have played had it been a final...just a bit of bruising but the coaching staff took the conservative approach. Willy were happy to prove they are more than just the Dave Lee show. And to Sandshoes, don't go on about injuries...every club has them, and no club will ever be at full strength.
Word around the Fearon on Saturday was that some of the Jocs 2s players thought the trip over the Westgate was a bridge too far... the result certainly bore that out.

A few more injuries hit Willy this weekend, injury list may look something like this for the upcoming round 6 clash.
Lee - Test
McGuinness - 2-3 weeks (Ankle)
Wheeler - Test
***** - Out
Hynes J - Test

Thats the wash up Ice heard

The Saints are a good outfit, just no depth.

Which relates to the Gryphons how?

I believe this relates to monash as follows. The indians used bows and arrows to fight against the cowboys, and for hunting. The bow and arrow was also heavily used in medievil times. One day(or night), in the thick mist and dew of the english winter at a place which is now known as stonehenge, a sorcerer of some description (most likely of oriental decent, as theyre usually the best at coming up with wierd sh!t) mated with a large cat, creating a griffon (it loved him long time), until it found out its mother the cat whom Edward (the asian sorcerer) had mated with to spawn him, had disappeared not two hours before Edward (the asian sorcerer) was seen enjoying a delectible, although suspect "chicken" dish and attacked the nearest mohican who was stumbling past after a long night impregnating irish children in their sleep while their fathers beat their wenches, who slew it using his trusted bow and arrow. And thus goes the story of Chaps, the 1st and last american indian to sail across the ocean and settle in a foreign land and bring the english the new weapon of the Bow and arrow. Monash Indians
