*Mount by many points? 33 scoring shots to 16 - should have done more damage on the scoreboard. But didn't. Bad kicking is bad football.
*Bocco a lot better than I thought. Bulleen underperformed. Solid win that still gives them a sniff of the 5 - a very, very faint sniff. Still unlikely and if they do sneak in they won't cause too much trouble.
*WB up by 156 points, which is more than 114 points. 15 goals to 1 opening term - ouch.
*I don't know why I persist with the Sharks - I'm not a supporter, my cousin doesn't play for them, I haven't even 'been in the area so I thought I'd have a look'. I was nearly 8 goals off the margin there! AP are coming good as we look towards the business end.
*SFX won by 77 points - predicted margin 81. Almost got that one right. The Saints back in town after a Collingwood-esque June slump.
*Centrals did a lot better than I thought they would. What's your rating on Kew, BigWaz / Lakey? 6.9 to 2.2 in the third looks to have done the real damage.

Can't report on the seniors much, but for the ressies Kew are by far the second best team we have played, with a very good midfield, and well disciplined. The difference was really their forwards who took control when needed. Big No 9 and Small 17...very opportunistic. On saturday I called them cheap goals, but really he took advantage of our slack play and good on him. Stopable though. Looking forward to our next clash though.

One last thing:

Good club, awesome facilities, good blokes but..........WHAT THE HELL HAVE YOU DONE TO THE JUMPER? THIS MUST GO DOWN AS ONE OF THOSE "WHAT WHERE YOU THINKING" MOMENTS. HONESTLY, IT IS A DISGRACE AND SHOULD NEVER HAVE BEEN ALLOWED BY THE VAFA OR ANY OTHER AUTHORITY. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE GET RID OF THEM AND YOU CAN BORROW SOME OF OURS UNTIL YOU GET DECENT REPLACEMENTS. THEY ARE AS BAD AS RICHMONDS OLD JUMPERS THAT THEY WORE AGAINST CARLTON ON SATURDAY. BOTH CLUBS NEED A GOOD TALKING TO.

Anyway, I hope I got my point accross......

Horne kicking 6 in one quarter would have no doubt given your boys a lift and kicked the snakes in the guts.

Bad kicking is bad football - not an excuse but was it windy out that way on Saturday?

Not an excuse more stating a fact. WB kicked 15 - 1 in the first quarter against SM we kicked 6-10 against the same team. Looking forward to this week hopefully we bring our kicking boots.

Lakey,
When we merged last year with North Kew we chose the jumper that both clubs had previously worn. Kew wore the brown with a gold sash from approx 1900 - 1970 they then changed to the hawthorn strip. North Kew wore this jumper also until the mid 90's. We are more than happy with our new strip as gives us an identity rather than wearing the strip of an afl club.

Yeah, can understand that and well done for going your own way...its just........YUK

Makes sense now, but still......

A little of topic but I thought I'd ask:

Which clubs expect the away team to clean their own rooms of a weekend?

When I was playing it was always expected that when you played away you'd do a basic tidy-up but that the actual cleaning would be done by the home team... then when they came to your ground the favour would be returned. ( In my day good clubs might even shout their opponents some beer but that's another story entirely...)

Pretty disgraceful I reckon that a home club would rock up to the away room with brooms and hand them over to blokes who'd just slogged out a hard game a long way from home.

Good question Mc....

I reckon away teams should leave the rooms as they finds them - without scrubbing the floors etc.

Basically bang your boots outside, and pick up all the tape and crap and put it in the bin. It doesn't hurt to clean up after yourselves.....I would like to think that you clean your own mess up......lazy bugger! (Although we always leave it to Waz...good on you Waz!)

FYI: Ready is out of Hospital now, and doing fine. Should be back playing in 6 weeks with a brand new titanium jaw!

Away teams should clean up their mess... as it only takes a few minutes. Some teams do... RESPECT... and some teams don't :(

As I said... basic tidy-up. By that I mean pretty much what you guys have said:
Bang boots outside.
Put tape etc... in the bin.
Basically treat the rooms and facilities with respect. 'Tidy up'

What I wouldn't expect is to be handed stiff brooms with the expectation that I 'clean' the rooms. There's a line I reckon to be drawn between expecting basic decency and expecting other blokes to do your work.

I wonder (aloud) whether the same clubs handing over the brooms to opposition players when at home would happily allow their hosts to do the hard yards after their away games. That'd be pretty poor form I'd reckon.

I would think that the visiting team would do a quick tidy up. 'But with roughly every team having 50 or so registered players, what about the older system of three blokes nominated every week for the home team to do a clean up after the game. only takes 10 minutes.
P.S. Stop ya Fu#@ing Winging!

Yep, agree here. No need to scrub, and there shouldn't be that much mess either.........

Maybe it depends on the result? Perhaps they where pissed off you won.....dunno, but seems like overkill

We've always cleaned both rooms ourselves on home games and I always thought this was the etiquette. I'm not too worried if the away rooms are a bit of a mess. I'd be mighty peeved though if our club was given a broom at an away game and asked to clean the rooms.

Just as an aside I played earlier in the year at one club where the away rooms were filthy (and I mean wet mud all over the place) before the reserves even got changed. It was a really poor effort from the host club - players had to get changed standing on the benches so as not to get their street clothes filthy.

Not naming names, but... are you talking about SFX?

I know of one club that struggled with a non-associated juniors club using their rooms prior to the ressies. The council gives the juniors permission to use the ground and rooms, and they are supposed to leave it clean when they finish... but didn't when we played there. Can't really blame the host club on that occasion.

What happened to Rooster1979??????? He was full steam ahaead earlier in the year with betting markets and tipping comps but now he has fallen off the face of the earth.

What are everyones thoughts for the coming week. Kew and West Brunswick should be a ripper.
West are yet to lose and Kew are yet to lose at home.
Albert Park are coming but still have quite a tough draw.
Mout Lilydale's result against North Brunny wasn't to impressive
Richmond have a horror draw.
BHN have strung a couple together and may not be dead yet.

All leads to a super finish in D4

The pro thinks the five will look like this at the end of round 18

West Brunswick
Kew
St Francis
Albert Park
Mount Lilydale

No change from the current five as at round 11.

My Round 12 Tips

North Brunswick vs Box Hill North - BHN by 1 point
South Mornington vs Syndal Tally Ho - SM by 1 point
Richmond Central vs St Francis Xavier - SFX by 1 point
Mt Lilydale vs Eley Park -ML by 4 Goals
Albert Park vs Bulleen Cobras - AP by 5 Goals
Kew vs West Brunswick - Kew by 1 point

Some cracking games this round!

And then issue them with brooms and cleaning orders after the game.

As much as Richmond need to, I can't see it happening. SFX by 6 goals.

No need... i'm sure they'll do as good a job cleaning after themselves as they request from their opposition when they play at home :)

NB by 1 point!
Syndal by 1 point!
Richmond by 1 point!
EP by 1 point!
BC by 1 point!
WB by 1 point!

I've deliberately avoided naming names. Don't want to smack any individual club... just wanted to know the ettiquette in ammos. Wasn't winging either.

I'll save my tips for later in the week. To many close ones to call on a tuesday

Ozza's locks of the week.

North Brunswick vs Box Hill North - North Brunswick to get the points by under a goal.
South Mornington vs Syndal Tally Ho - SM much stronger at home - 3 goal winners.
Richmond Central vs St Francis Xavier - SFX by 3 goals
Mt Lilydale vs Eley Park - Mountain men by 10 points.
Albert Park vs Bulleen Cobras - AP by 8 Goals
Kew vs West Brunswick - West Brunswick to kick away late by 25 points.

Nth Brunswick v Box Hill Nth - The battle of the norths will be won by Box Hill 16 Pts.

Sth Mornington V Syndal Tally Ho - Sth M's to win by a close 7pts

Richmond Central v St Francis Xavier - This game will be won by the endurance of SFX Midfielders, who are starting to awaken that winning feeling again - 4pts

Mt Lilydale v Eley Park - The Mt Men to catch a switched off Shark or two, Mt Lilydale by 43 pts

Albert Park v Bulleen -The rematches of the round! - no excuses for the Falcons with enough fit cattle on the park this time, especially the midfield who really was sh*t and flat footed last time around... so 25pts to the Falcons.

Kew v West Brunswick - This is the Clash of the round! - Kew to test their mighty 'Horne' against the might of West Brunswick - a close one to call - maybe by 6pts, but who?

It's at Kew.... Where they have a big home ground advantage due to the size... It will keep it close... However... I think WB will still win by 5-10 goals.

Is Kew's ground particularly big or small? The draw tells me that you haven't seen West Brunswick's ground this season, and probably not the past few since you've been in different divisions...

A lot will be told with the results this week, some very well-matched games between teams at similar standings
