D4 D4 2009 Part 2

I dont think Monash would beat Albert Park or Latrobe, so what is the difference? Adn keep in mind that Swinburne won 5 or 6 games in D3 last year.

Besides, if the Ivanhoe/Old Ivanhoe merger goes ahead, then monash would probably get a reprieve anyway. Point Cook would make up the tenth spot in D4 next year, and Assumption College could even make D4 an 11 team division.

Waz
Monash missed the finals by 3 games. They will DOMINATE d4 next year.

Albert Park beat powerhouse by 10 goals in the preseason, and they finished above Monash.

I'd be more worried about Aussumption beating everyone by 200 points.

Because sides are always full strength in March.
Look at the last 2 premiers both came from d3 the previous year. Latrobe could be the 3rd club to do so in as many years. Monash are coming down with a superior win loss record than any of the previous teams.

Waz - Showing your non football background!
March - cricket etc Who cares in preseason!
Monash as with most clubs that drop with a 6 wins record will play finals without even trying!

As a member of a D3 club (Power House), if a club list remains similar and they had 5 or 6 wins in D3, they will definitely go well in D4. Happened to us in 2006, Latrobe this year and DIDN'T happen to Swinburne because they were clearly starting to struggle from mid year onwards last year.

Very even D3 comp this year and Monash could argue in a way that they didn't make finals. Monash will be very good in D3 next year as long as they don't have a mass exodus.

Hey mate, are you told by the VAFA to put together a TOTY, or is it just something scribes do off their own bat?

If the latter, then why leave it till the week before the GF when no one is reading the AF except the two teams standing?
Told by the ammos- I will post it on here too

I am not so sure. Despite some injuries i would suggest Kew have a stronger team this year than last and they are playing off for that last spot. Monash also have some ageing stars, so who knows if they will go around again. I think Swinburne, North Brunswick, Mt Lilydale, South Mornington and the loser from this week(not to mention Assumption and who knows what Point Cook will put on the field) will all prove stiff opposition for Monash

Can the VAFA change its mind on promoting 3 teams to D3 next year?

I still believe keeping Monash Griffins in D3 would be a better outcome than promoting the 3rd placed team to D3. They have won 6 games and are not deserving of dropping down grades. A lot of D4 sides are saying they need to even up the grade by having a 12 side D3 is the answer but if Monash come down next year they will be flag favourites and probably not drop a game. Where is the eveness in that.

The third placed team is really only getting promoted because of a VAFA shake up not because they are deserving of a promotion. Also if in the preliminary final Kew or Rich get smacked by over 70 points by Latrobe or Albert Park (the 2 teams deserving promotion) surely the VAFA will change its mind.
Anyone who finishes dead bottom deserves to get relegated.

Monash finished with 6 wins. 8th and 9th also had 6 wins. Only 3 wins from finals. Hardly dead last.

Also Kew is no way near as strong as last year. 6 players from last years 2's side are in the 1's all year. Standard no way near as good as last year's D4.

Last time i checked 10th is dead last in a 10 team competition!. Kew may have reserves players playing from last year, but also picked up some pretty handy recruits. Besides SFX did pretty well this year as a runner up from D4 last year, and West Brunswick finished the season well with a side i dare say contained several reserves players from last year and missing their best!

This weekend could either way with all games.

Question is do Kew or Richmond really want to go to D3 and get pumped every game and then come back down to D4 in 2011 anyway.

I know everyone thinks promotion is always good but has it ever done more harm than good to a club? Please comment.

Promotion doesn't seem to have hurt St Francis this year.

If the VAFA administration continue the policy of placing new teams in D4 (and those teams are at a higher level than current D4 sides), does this mean that most exisitng D4 sides will find gaining promotion nigh on impossible because the incoming clubs finish 1-2 and gain promtion....??

as they say, d4 is the hardest division to get promoted from. new teams, and strong relegated teams take up the spots.

Not surprised that Kew were the winners yesterday, this season RC did not beat a team that finished higher than them. Whilst I wasn't at the game judging by the scores RC never threatened Kew would that be fair to presume?

I'm only new to the forums but I wouldn't assume anything handsinback. I'm pretty sure Kew wouldn't say that they did it comfortably.

update from todays game:

LTU Vs NB - LTU by 10goals + . North Brunny were never in it and looked more interested in playing the man than the ball. A tactic which didnt pay off. NB were never threatening will be interesting when they're up against kew next week!

A verbal attack on numbers 16 and 11 of North Brunswick - Take up boxing you tubby blokes, you want to pick a fight go toe to toe you cats! In the battle of the Ball and number 11, the ball won out with a clear hit in the face when he missed a tap out! Good work chump!

Any news from the Seniors game?

Nth Brunswick would always go for the man and try and rattle Latrobe. Especially if they are getting pumped. Seems like it didn't work and they got flogged. HA HA HA HA

Obviosly with such an early post you are a quality team man. The sort of bloke that everyone wants at their club. Play 2's then nick off home and don't worry about the ones. It's all about you!!!!!
