I reckon south will get up on sunday in what should be a ripper game, hopefully in a tough contested one! A great win against manningham as well, all in good spirit! And Bob Wilson for team of the year, are u guys on acid? haha

Re: D4 2009

I hadnt thought of that. That is a nice reward... especially if knocked out in straight sets (however unlikely).

Guys am I hearing right that top 3 at end of home and away season go directly into D3? Surely the two GF plus loser of preliminary final....have I missed something?

Good luck to all the finalists, crazy weather could play a big part in results.

No it is the two grand finalists plus the loser of the prelim. Albert Park must make at least the prelim so they are already promoted as will be the winner of Kew and LaTrobe

Tips

Seniors - Qualifying Final
Kew vs La Trobe Uni - LTU by 2 goals. This could go either way, if Horne plays I would tip Kew ... if he doesn't play then I would tip LTU. I have a feeling he will play ... Kew by 2 goals

Seniors - Elimination Final
Richmond vs South Mornington - RC will be desperate to win a final and the travel will hurt SM. RC by 5 goals.

Reserves - Qualifying Final
Kew vs North Brunswick - NB by 3 goals, a few 'Senior' players back in the Reserves will make them stronger.

Reserves - Elimination Final
Albert Park vs Mt Lilydale - MtL by 2 goals, as with NB they will be bolstered by their Seniors not playing finals:D.

MTL has just one player from the seniors playing in the finals, this one has played the last 2 in the seniors and the rest of the season in the two's.
Good luck this weekend to all.

Well we played chadstone in the last round and they didn't mention anything, and were talking about next season...so I don't think it'd be them.

I heard a D3 club might be merging with someone else... but not sure who.

One thing is for certain, the weather forecast predicts showers for the rest of the week and wind/rain Sat/Sunday.

No different from any other Saturday this season really!

i heard on SEN during their local footy hour that ivanhoe (d2 now d3) are looking to merge with old ivanhoe grammarians (a now b). not sure of the benefit to ivanhoe (d3) as most playing spots would be taken up by players from the school team.

was SEN so most likely isn't true

Hmmm. Yes, cant see OI giving Ivanhoe much credit in that merger. Seem like Ivanhoe would really just disappear.

And, that would leave Monash Gyphons in D3... They'd be laughing.

Assumption Old Collegians will be D4 next season and my guess is they will be very strong. They have plans of A, B or C grade.

The rain would be- apart from a drop or two it has been windy but not wet

Old Ivanhoe have approached Ivanhoe to look at merging. Ivanhoe have a very strong junior club whereas Old Ivanhoe are school aligned. This year Ivanhoe had Under 19's while Old Ivanhoe couldn't get them off the ground (even though they made a grand final last year).

Most of the kids who play at Ivanhoe Juniors go to the Grammar anyway. Will be interesting to see what transpires as Old Ivanhoe at the moment don't have a great relationship with the school.

does the vafa have the ability to grade new teams entering or do they have to start at the bottom (d4) and work their way through the grades. (i.e rupertswood)

would have thought a 12 team d3 would be the best place for a team with such a strong feeder school to start rather than dominating d4 for a year.

did rupertswood dominate d4 the year they were in it?

also are they going to be based in melbourne or kilmore?

They approached RC a year ago about sharing KB reserve. So I guess they want to play in the city somewhere. Good luck finding a ground though?

Have there been clubs in the past that have been allowed in at a higher level? Wouldn't of thought so...

As for "Grading" a club... how would they do that? The scary thought is that they come in as a club with side full of c grade players and kick everyones all all year... Or they may just be run of the mill. Who knows.

Rumour mill is that they have ex-AFl players ready to go. It'd be a HUGE suprise if they were run of the mill.

No benefit to the cometition, or to the grade for them to come in & just kick A. I'm not sure how the VAFA see it though.

Well that is quite a rumour!

It would be embarrassing for the VAFA if that was the case. Why should the other D4 teams pretend to win a GF against ex-AFL players :)

Rupo did dominate and kept making grand finals (not winning many) until they found they're level. Fitzroy Reds also dominated when they first entered.

There is quite a list of ex afl guys who are past students so this is quite a possible.

Correct me if im wrong but didn't they use to be associated with d3 ivanhoe a few years back??

Bigwaz where they just looking to play at KB or train there also.
