Daisy in trouble ?

Yes there is, but we only see supporters and officials complaining when it affects players from their clubs, and that is why nothing is done about it. If all 18 clubs jumped up and down each time something like this happens, maybe something would change, but it doesn't happen.

I've seen Hawthorn players rubbed out for some of the most piddling things imaginable. That's AFL life, circa 2011.

Agree. Daisy is gone and it may be to late for Ed to save him. What should of happened is that Ed should have protested when an incident didnt involve his club.

the ridiculous decision to contest the charge against clinton jones earlier in the year has come back to bite the pies and thomas as my understanding is the final ban there influences the carry over points? was hard to believe they contested at the time, the consequences are even more dire now. thomas won't play again until the prelim, so added to shaw and maxwell the balancing act re underdone players is going to be even more delicate for the pies coaching staff

I don't know why the thread title has a ? He is in trouble.

Medium impact. Left his feet, head high. Can't recall Daisys record, but I don't think he is an angel is he?

Should be 2 weeks, but we all know the Collingwood discount will get him down to a reprimand.

No chance of medium impact - will be low impact or not sufficient force

ok, seen it. He's definitely in a bit of strife. Flat out bump, front on, jumped and got him head-high.

Minimum 2 weeks you'd think, especially with the 60 odd carry over points and loading

agree. at least 2 before taking into account early guilty plea. just watched a replay of it, i think he is simply lucky ibbotson wasn't more seriously injured. if he'd been concussed and it was classified as high impact his season would be as good as finished

the nick lower incident was also particularly ugly later in the 1st quarter. just watched that again as well, he basically lines thomas up and goes straight for his head as he is bent over. he makes a conscious decision to target the head looki at the vision. should get 5-6, exactly the sort of incident the league wants to stamp out

This.

Contact to the chest and head, player got straight back up and wasn't attended to by a trainer. There will be no need for a medical report, simply because there won't be one.

Worst case... Reckless/Low impact = 2 weeks with early plea

Best case... Insufficient force to the head to constitute a reportable offence

Most likely case... Negligent/Low impact - 1 week with early plea

Agreed. Was ridiculous at the time, looks even dumber now.

can he plea guilty after already being reported this year? because Hocking couldn't last week otherwise he would have just had a reprimand.

Disagree - no chance it will be negligent - the ball had gone and Daisy had jumped in the air - by the tribunal's own booklet - that is reckless.

It'll be 0 weeks or 2 weeks

Should get 2 weeks. Jumped off the ground and made head high front on contact.

But since he plays for Collingwood, he will probably only get 1.

There was no difference to the Ben Johnson charge against Port, except it is debatable, whether he hit him high. Johnson got a reprimand.

Fair point, if anything the force of Johnson's bump had the potential to cause greater damage.

If Daisy's gets graded the same, he gets 1 week.

Hocking could have plead guilty last week - it was just that his carryover points meant he still would have copped a week regardless.

imv Johnson's hit touched Banner fair & square high. Comparatively, the Thomas hit is directly to the sternum. There is no medical report & it's debatable whether he hit high.

F***ing stupid by Daisy.

He will get cited for Charging/Rough Conduct.

Low Impact and High Contact are non-negotiable as far as gradings go.

Reckless or Negligent is the only thing debatable.

Reckless = 225pts
+ 10% loading = 247.50
+ 68.75 carry over pts = 316.25
- 25% early plea = 237.1875pts
2 weeks suspension

Negligent = 125pts
+ 10% loading = 137.50
+ 68.75 carry over pts = 206.25
- 25% early plea = 154.6875pts
1 week suspension

agree. and i think it will go reckless/possible intentional as he left the ground and went past the ball. will be interesting to see how they assess it.

There's a major difference between johnson's and daisy's.

In the johnson scenario the ball was still to be contested and he stayed on the ground.

In the Thomas scenario - ibbotson had the ball and had disposed of it .

Thomas was both late and left the ground.

The severity of Johnson's was worse - but that is irrelevant to the assessment of reckless/negligent

In the johnson scenario the ball was still to be contested and he stayed on the ground.

It only matters if both players were going for the ball, in Johnson's case, like Thomas, he had no intention for the ball, the only difference was that Johnson's occured before Gray touched the ball. Thomas after.
