Collingwood Getting even more pathetic, Deal with North exclusively!!!

John Ralph 7 Minutes ago- The Advertiser
Collingwood is still the resounding favourite to secure Dan Houston despite believing the Power's current demand for the dual All Australian equates to a trio of late first-round picks.
The Pies are prepared to secure Gold Coast's no. 13 and 23 picks in a swap with their future first-round selection and departing defender John Noble.
But they are not prepared to hand over 13 and 23 to the Power, believing Sydney would then trade its picks 19 and 22 for the cherished No. 13 pick.
It would leave the Power with picks 19, 22 and 23 and Richards for Houston.

You'd assume if we're asking for Pick 2+F2, we're not accepting 13+23+Richards.

I'll be so annoyed if we don't comfortably win this trade. Just keep him for a year and he's basically the same value next year.
That's exactly right... he's worth at least pick 2. If other clubs can't come up with equal trades on what NM are offering then he either plays at Arden St (if he's willing) or Alberton.

If we get pick 2 and pick Draper the salt from the Camry board would fill the worlds oceans

And then they'd be all 'He didn't want to play for us anyway, I'm glad he's gone to Poort. Tarps. 119.'

If Port is negotiating with Norf, that could be to force Dan’s/Collingwood’s hand.

Now that we can get Luko without relying on getting another first in, we say to Dan and Collingwood-

“Norf have offered us #2. If you want Dan at Collingwood, we need more than #13 and Richards”.

If Collingwood don’t put up, Dan has a choice. Norf or Port.

Pick 2 and F2 for Houston and a 2nd rounder whether it’s this year or next years is something I can behind.

It’s clear that most port supporters feel the Collingwood deal is not good enough and thinking about it logically, why would you trade a top 5 player to another team potentially contending for the flag?

The Richards deal has to be done separately. He honestly shouldn’t cost too much.

Having said that, this is port and they have been pretty average when it comes to the trade period lately e.g. trading out our 1st rounder for 2 x 2nd rounders for Soldo and Esava with Soldo wanting to come back to Vic and Esava offering nothing and when port demanded swans cough up their 1st rounder for Ladhams at the end of the 2021 to only concede for a pick swap of their 1st rounder + 2nd rounder for Ladhams and our 1st rounder. Then come draft night and we swapped with the eagles to move up 2 spots; pick 14 + F2 for pick 12.

Fair to say Port are merely talking up the big game but buckle down when the going gets tough and mostly likely, we are going to accept the pies deal and make them a MUCH BETTER team whereas we will be much weaker.

Th Pies have emptied their cookie jar where they may try to flip some B Graders to us

In theory, and in a vacuum considering nothing else, this isn't terrible. We finish top 4 with two glaring on field weaknesses, we overpay but get the best options of those missing pieces available to us. That's not bad list management in the specific lens of 2023 going into 2024.

The issue is we do this every ****ing year, then push someone out when we realise we've ballsed it up and those pieces weren't the answer. And that then makes it even more remarkable that we are are willing to go "oh, we got it wrong, let's cop we lost that and try something else" with the list constantly but when it comes to the Donuts sitting on top of it all we seem scared to make any changes and are just happy to keep him sitting there just in case he finally flukes it and comes good.

One could suggest that no amount of list changes will deliver a premiership as long as Ken is coach.

That doesn't necessarily mean though that they shouldn't make moves that they believe vault them into contention either.

It's a tricky situation, so much so that some people in the list management meetings over this season questioned whether they're building the list for next year under Ken or Carr.

Really hoping St Kilda, Carlton and Melbourne see how much Collingwood's dropped the ball and swoop.
Carlton is the club sitting there with 2 firsts and afraid to trade them. They've ruled themselves out. F1 and pick 12 or whatever they have and the deal was probably pretty much done.

Reading their board they seem to hope Collingwood fall over in the trade, so that they can maintain their strategy and swoop on Houston. It forgets the obvious though, that Carlton have decided not to trade a fair amount for Houston, so they have ruled themselves out completely.
