The more I think about this the more I wonder if there's some draft night shenanigans agreed that ensures our preferred players fall to our picks? Surely we don't just roll over like this for no reason?

Surely?
You have to consider that those making the decisions do not have Port Adelaide interests at heart. Its the only thing that makes sense.

Davies trying to get to Collingwood, Perryman going to Collingwood, Port giving Houston to Collingwood for practically nothing, us having a Collingwood board member... these things are not just coincidental.

Keep in mind that Carlton had a BETTER offer on the table than what we ended up with and Dan actually wanted to go there. Norf were willing to work with us from the start. We chose to ignore both of these clubs and take actions to make Collingwood stronger.

I've tried to find a way to make myself feel better about this trade, but I'm not really at that point. It does feel like we were somewhat strongarmed into a position that we have tried to make the best of and opted not to hold Houston - maybe because we were being pushed hard behind the scenes by the Houston camp/mgmt.

I was originally comfortable with Luko for a future first in principle so I wont change my stance on that now, but will be interested to see how we set up the forward line.

So, based on the fact I was comfortable if we take out the F1 for Luko as its alomst unrelated to the Houston trade, we are left with:

Richards, Atkins, 13, 29, 36, 50 for Houston, 39, 58

We originally were hearing 13,23,Richards for Houston ....points wise this is almost identical (1 point difference) ... but it just doesnt feel the same.

"If Dan didn't leave this year, our chances of having selections at the top end of this draft, that reality wasn't going to be where we were going to be in this draft."

- Chris Davies

So in other words, because you (collectively) mortgaged our future last year to protect Hinkley you screwed up?

Presumably we knew then that this year's draft was one we'd want to be in?

It's odd because you're not at the top end of this draft still, and including your F1 basically means you have no way of realistically trading up

It looks worse because of the Atkins bit. He's negative value, but for no disernable reason he was included. He is delist material, and in fact Port would be better off instantly delisting him and paying him out if it's all about salary.

Houston is a shit defender.. soft as all **** his one big play got him suspended..

But that campaigner can kick us out of all our troubles..

Really need Evans to keep on keeping on and hopefully Farrel has a huge pre season gets his body right as he is the logical replacement for Houston..

Any way that's it for dan good luck at Collingwood hopefully he can handle the Pressure..

Oh n your missis is a campaigner

This year, Farrell played the 2nd seagull and will be good as the first QB seagull and has similar stats to prove it.

I guess he gives us some locker-room entertainment:

The only positive I have heard is Scott Camporeale suggesting he can help our younger players https://www.fiveaa.com.au/podcast/sports-show/ at 42 minutes in.
Campo:
"Atkins, he gives you a bit of depth in the SANFL to help some of those younger guys, because they are a young list if you have a look at it and they probably struggled at times, particularly through there."
Rowie jumps in:
"just pause on that - you rate hime enormously for his footy brain dont you"
Campo:
"Yeah he's a smart player. Hes a smart player, and I used him - dont underestimate what he will bring to that footy club. I know Rory really well, smart player, and what he will do with the young fellas, he will bring them in and help develop them, he'll be a psuedo development coach down there as well. ..... hews a quality person, a great footy brain and he will invest in the younger Port players as well".

So basically hes going to be here for a long time in a coaching role

I’d rather Boak help our younger players .
There is no way Ratkins can endear himself to our supporter base. Too much history.

Hi Power people.
I come in peace.

Richards has a lot of upside. He’s crafty, zippy, creative and clever. Great vision and good by foot. I’m truly disappointed to lose him but also happy for him to have a better opportunity with you guys.

If he stays injury free in 2025, he’ll be in your best 23, is good for 25-30 goals and set up many more.

Lukosius will also be great for you guys being back home in SA.

I’m obviously happy getting Houston but annoyed GC playing hardball with the deal.

Good luck for next season. Cheers.

GC playing hardball?

Collingwood won the trade by a county mile!
