Let’s say your right about pressure at Carlton to win a flag, because you areYes/no on Carlton being in a similar position.
Collingwood won a flag, that gives them a lot more flexibility to take a gamble.
If they mess it up, then spending a few more years in the wilderness to reset to where they can start a new push isn't a huge deal. Fans will still be happy with a 'recent' flag, and they'll have respect with players/clubs, etc.
Carlton however are coming into it's 30th year since a win, so at least another 4-5 years to get to where they can hope to enter their next window is a bitter pill to swallow, both to fans, and to the esteem the club is held in within the industry.
and yes, I know my club hasn't won one yet....it's why I know about the lack of respect that brings.
CFC are saying the same thing - per Voss comments from the B&F this week.
Even then, Carlton “appear” to be prioritising the draft rather than blowing it all on Houston.
If anything the investment in Houston should be more important to Carlton to finally win a premiership.
Ask yourself why is CFC appearing not to do so?
