Dangerfield - How close to elite is he

How much has his kicking improved this year?! Out of sight!

Kicking, along with ability to get the easy ball have been the two standout improvements this year for Danger, and were really the only 2 slights on his game.

His kicking hasn't improved ....whats happened is he's more composed and not rushing his kicks

put it down to coaching

For a player so young he has great poise with the football. Against Carlton he always seemed to have so much time and space. His ability to lower the eyes and spot up a target inside 50 instead of blazing away on a consistent basis is amazing.
That goal in the last term when he grab it out of the ruck and kicked it on his left is something we will look back on and refer to as "Vintage Dangerfield" in years to come.

Contested marking is generally a weakness of Judds game (maybe not this weekend) but its another strength of Dangers.

possibly although Judds marking on Sunday was great and you wouldn't say marking is a feature of Dangerfields game

It's not a weakness either so without seeming bias i just thought in that area they would cancel each other out

Still think Dangerfield will be better than Judd at his peak .....he;s un-taggable and has too many strengths to his game ....btw IMO Dangerfield is also a better kick than Judd ....low trajectory and 50+ mtrs every time ;)

The reason he's a better contested mark than Judd is because he can actually lift his arms above his head.

Dangerfield is going to be an absolute gun (he already is), but I think some of you are forgetting just how good Judd was at West Coast. Bit early to say Danger will be better than Judd when he was at his absolute best. Judd was also untaggable during his early/mid twenties.

Just heard that he re-signed, can anyone confirm this?

Mike Sheahan alluded to as much during 'On The Couch', but there's nothing official yet. There has never really been any indication that he wouldn't. It's all been media driven hype.

Remember when Judd kicked 5 goals in the first quarter against the Lions at the Gabba? Easy to forget how amazing he was. Still great now but was Numero Uno for a long while.

Exactly. For a player who is supposedly on the decline (according to the main board), averaging 27 disposals (15 contested) is a pretty decent effort. Hell, if the rest of his team turned up to help him on a regular basis, he might not be so knackered.

Dangerfield is great but at the moment he doesn't touch Judd at his peak. Rising Star winner, Brownlow in his third year. On Saturday they showed the 2005 and 2006 Grand Finals on 7, as a finals payer in those years he puts Gary Ablett in the shade.

Maybe he will one day but we mustn't forget he still has some way to go in terms of consistency and big game performances before he reaches the level of truly elite players.

Judd in his peak was amazingly good. He was a freak. Would run away from packs consistently, couldn't be tackled, gave so many don't argues. He was lethal. Danger could get there as he's got the same attributes but Judd winning a brownlow in only his 3rd season said it all.

I think the rest of the competition should be very worried about the polish and class by foot & hand that he is adding to his at times brutal attack on the ball. I'm calling it now that in 12 months time we will be talking about him as the most complete player in the competition. This is the sort of player that if a finals game is slipping away from us, he will grab it by the scruff of the neck and swing momentum back in our favour. Compared to other mids he just has so many strings to his bow:

- Fastest player in the league
- Can also play as a key forward due to his strong overhead marking ability and accurate set shot (in a similar fashion to one M. Ricciuto)
- In the top 2-3 contested ball winners in the league
- As suggested by several coaches/pundits, he's almost untaggable as he's stronger and faster than any player who will line up on him
- Adding consistency to his game now

Mark Ricciuto recently said that he has the potential to be the best player in the clubs history by the time his career is up and I don't think that's as ridiculous a call as it sounds.

If you guys don't put on the table 1m for 3years...he walks me thinks......that's what he worth IMO

Graham Cornes thinks he is only worth 800K....over how many years?

If he is your next captain, pay up big, its a good sound investment.

Tippet is not worth it atm.....this guy is worth half that of Dangerfield..

This man has the ability to turn a game around, not many out there at his age......

It a big hole to fill if you lose him....

Nice of you to be so concerned for your bigger stronger more popular brother down the road. :)

However, if I supported Port Parasites, I'd be much more concerned about losing my best player in Boak at the end of the year.

He may stay, he may not. However, he is currently being very very tempted to go home at the end of this year.
