We'd just end up with another Frampton or Himmelberg situation. One "good" game, clog up the AFL side for a month and don't perform against anyone decent. We delay the call and cost another player a spot.

Marshall is doing this to Port right now

Surely the bar for a player five years in the system is higher than kicking a few goals in the SANFL or against all time bad AFL teams
This is a remarkable defence

‘He’s so bad that he’s better for us because he’s not playing any good games ‘

‘He’d be worse for us if he played the odd good game ‘

Hahaha we might as well get a game on that logic

Reading your defence , Apparently it’s much lower

The moral of the story is a small minority of crows supporters will go to any length to back Fogarty in

And it is a very vocal small minority these days

I’m all for a contrarian view at times but just can’t get my head around some of the defence of Fogarty , genuinely makes me chuckle

Players that won't make it playing the occasional good game leads to them clogging the side.

Players that are always bad don't play and we (should) move on from them quickly.

If a bad player is already on the list, it's better to not play them and get rid of them as soon as possible than use up a spot in the AFL side of a genuinely good player.

We have just seen this from Himmelberg. He plays one good game a year and managed to keep a highly rated pick 2 out of the side. Surely by now no one thinks he's going to make it, but we wasted all those games on him instead of players that might actually be good.

With Fogarty, if he's not going to start dominating games against good sides - which almost no one here thinks will happen - then the next best thing is for him to stink it up so bad we are forced to get rid of him.

Being in no man's land is how sides end up with guys like Gary Rohan and Rory Atkins. Blokes that play the occasional good game against poor sides then disappear in big games. There is nothing worse than a bad player getting games

I'm not defending him at all. He's done as an AFL player. We should make the call and move on.

What would be worse is him now having a 5 goal game against North Melbourne or West Coast, so we extend his contract only to discover years down the track he still sucks and can't get goals against good teams

Every year, we get told, the penny has dropped with Fogs ....he's fitter, stayed in Adelaide, in the off-season

He's not fit ....no-where near it ....has no 2nd efforts, can't or won't do repeated leads to find space ....I'm not seeing an AFL motivated player ....IMO, he'd be happy simply playing SANFL

By who?

Public record ....via a number of interviews during PS ....I'll let you hunt the interviews down

I guess, it isn't like you ever hear how players have trained the house down, burned up the track, are the one to look out for this year...jesuse christ those comments are as throwaway as "everyone is onboard with umpire dissent" or "Brad Scott is communicating these new rules well"

But please, go find us the "penny has dropped for Fog" interview I'm sure it is out there.

The absolute saddest thing about this thread is that it just magnifies an ugly truth about BigFooty, the guys who want to cast out a person as not having the skills, or football IQ, or desire to ever make it at AFL, are the same ****ing guys who want to tell you how good they are in the preceding 2 years of the draft. The same guys that run a 1 out of 10 record on predraft players making it are the same folk wanting you to believe their opinion now It is really sad to be honest and has made this thread a broken record.

I still hope he can become what we need him to become. But then I still go into X-lotto each week and hope I can retire.

You've still gotta have more tricks, as a big guy .....than, simply a good kick

IMHO, Jame Sellars showed more, than Fogs is currently

Savage AF 👍

Who are the other forwards shining in our team?

Not continually shining, but someone has "shined" in 6 of our 9 games.

Week 1 - Rachele - 5 goals
Week 2 - All stunk
Week 3 - Himmelburg 4 goals, Gollant 4 goals
Week 4 - Walker 4
Week 5 - Walker 5, Himmelberg 4
Week 6 - Walker 3
Week 7 - All stunk
Week 8 - All Stunk
Week 9 - McAdam 3 goals.

I have said it all along. The problem with FOG is his consistency and the inability to really shine at AFL level. In his 44 games he has only touched the ball 12+ times in 4 games. He has never really looked like absolutely dominating a game.

His form is the exact same as when he came into the league in 2018. We haven't seen ANY improvement at AFL level.

I would love to see a 17 touch, 8 mark 2 goal performance more than I would like to see a 10 touch 3 goal performance.

I honestly would love to see him succeed. His kicking is top 3% in the AFL in my opinion. He is tough at the ball and contests hard when the ball comes to him.

If the good lord made him be born 40 years earlier, gave him an extra 3 inches of height, or kept his same height but gave him some agility - we would be looking at a different player.
