The Feats of Strength
He wasn't that great at coaching defense either.
He couldn't even run a f***ing training session in the Barossa correctly.

LOLAin't that great at coaching the Northern Bullants too.
Jesus H Christ could tap into divine powers to win so he'd probably be an excellent coach with any listLOL
He might not be a great coach but Jesus H Christ would be flat out winning games with the Northern Bullants list..
AFL then did us a favour & suspended him.He couldn't even run a f***ing training session in the Barossa correctly.
'He walked on the water and swam on the land'...one of the best lines everJesus H Christ could tap into divine powers to win so he'd probably be an excellent coach with any list
Hard to concentrate on coaching when you're homeless though. He wasn't that great at coaching defense either.
So that's how murphy hurt his neck...
And some actual player developmentIt's so refreshing to hear a coach give supporters what they are crying out for - authenticity and transparency from inside the club that confirms what we're seeing on match day.
It sure beats the contrived "inside the walls" content the club puts out that claims to do the same thing.
A little bit more of this would go a long way.
It also explains one of the big knocks on Fog that he wasn't fit enough or smart to create separation. It's so refreshing to hear a coach give supporters what they are crying out for - authenticity and transparency from inside the club that confirms what we're seeing on match day.

We now know it's in part his own making from liking a wrestle.
If I were the Adelaide coaching staff I'd be trying to exploit the FOG matchup as much as possible. Hard to see him getting anything but the 3rd tall defender. And I suspect the chop out player will be mainly focused on Thilthorpe due to his height.Keen to see how Fog goes after the bye. Will the break hinder the momentum he had going, or has he genuinely turned the corner?
Another strong showing this week after a mid season break will be a very promising sign imo
Sorry, had to ruin that thought good as it isIf I were the Adelaide coaching staff I'd be trying to exploit the FOG matchup as much as possible. Hard to see him getting anything but the 3rd tall defender. And I suspect the chop out player will be mainly focused on Thilthorpe due to his height.
If it were me, i'd be running a hell of a lot of set plays through FOG. Especially now he's got his kicking boots back on.
FEED THE BEAST!!!!
This hurts... Because its far too easy to imagine!Sorry, had to ruin that thought good as it is
Imagine this..we are streaming out from defense, Dawson (because the coaches will keep him stuck in defense- you know they will) hits up Keays or Laird - take your pick and they then look to execute the set play to fog and the kick in sails 3 metres above his head OR its a pitching wedge kick and by the time the ball gets to fog, he has 2 tall defenders and maybe a resting ruck smashing into him spoiling it
As I said, nice thought though..not enough quality to execute it in our squad apart from a few (Dawson, Rachele, Tex.......)
Why is it alot of our past greats seem to undo some of their playing days good work? It's no surprise either that Tex's performances have gone through the roof since Rahilly arrived at the club.
Walker was another one who under Ben Hart was spending more time wrestling with his opponent and playing like a defender than actually leading and marking the ball.
So thanks Ben Hart for ruining 2-3 years of Fog and Tex's career
Why is it alot of our past greats seem to undo some of their playing days good work?
Ricciuto
Hart

Edwards
Burton (not a great I guess)
Yep.. the club has clearly thought that the on field success that some of these guys bought the club would instantly translate to them being great off the field working for the club in coaching/managerial positions..Maybe it’s our unrealistic expectations for them?
As a club (like bearded clam has referenced) or as supporters?Maybe it’s our unrealistic expectations for them?

It's probably a reflection of the era. A lot of players in that time didn't undergoe any further education. Many would have barely matriculated, if they did at all. It just wasn't a priority for talented young footy players, in fact it would have been seen as lame in many cases. Why is it alot of our past greats seem to undo some of their playing days good work?

Burton was just an arrogant train wreck, who it seems by all reports got the job by being Roos mate??Both? But I was thinking mainly as supporters
The irony being is that they had more time back in the day, compared to today's AFL world. It's probably a reflection of the era. A lot of players in that time didn't undergoe any further education. However they were good at footy and had a public persona so were given jobs that are probably beyond their level of intelligence or education.
In the 90's and early 00's they could get away with being mediocre, politically incorrect or prickly in demeanor. But now with the extreme media focus and public scrutiny it's becoming exceedingly clear when Football Talent doesn't equate to a good personality or Coaching / Administrative talent.
