His first game back in the side last year against North Melbourne he spent a lot of time in the middle but struggled to get involved in the game - he manage to drift forward and kick 3? Goals though.

I’m don’t think it’s the worst idea to give him an occasional run in the middle if he’s struggling to get involved playing as a deep forward, our current midfield rotations aren’t working and his ball use is exceptional which adds a different dimension.

You don't play a lad in the midfield just for fitness reasons. You're trialing an idea. If you're worried about fitness, you flog the lad in preseason.
I agree that it wasn't done for fitness purposes. It was partly an experiment (to see if he could play in the midfield - he couldn't), and partly an attempt to develop him as a player (teaching him to get more involved in the game - he didn't).

I agree - which is why I said they "played him more through the midfield so that he could work on his known deficiencies -IE: Fitness, impacting the game across 4 quarters and finding more of the footy. All 3 were weaknesses.

I also disagree with the notion that the 1 AFL game and 4 SANFL games where he had time in the midfield over the past 5 years stunted his development.

What was left to learn as an SANFL forward rag dolling part time footballers? Its especially true considering he entered the league a man child.

FOG's last 3 weeks really highlight that even if you are not fast, good things happen when you run hard.

I mentioned after the WC game that the 2 hardest times i've ever seen Darcy run were his 60m goal, and the turn and burn on the wing. Both happened in the same game. Well, add 2 more this week with his give and go goal, and the chase down tackle in the 4th.

Good things happen when he pushes himself to run hard. And TBH, when he does run hard, he's doesn't look all that slow, his opponents certainly weren't catching him in any of those plays!

After watching the game on the weekend, people and coaches have complained about FOG wrestling. But when your team mates can't kick to your advantage and plonk it on your head, I think it's a case of cause and effect.

He's looked good the past few weeks though, he, Tex and Thilthorpe have been a good combo.

Apologies. I missed the 1 game out of 48 that he had a run in the midfield in the AFL.

Ruined his development that did. Scholars will look back to that round 6 game in Hobart as what ruined poor fogs entire career.

Yeah, it was more than one game, but keep floundering.

If we just ignore that the coach who I was being critical of had expressed the view that he had to learn to attack the ball in the air rather than wrestling this is still an inane response. They picked him in the mids for "fitness"? Embarrassing even for you.

And then 6 combined for the next 3 quarters. Derm acknowledged it during the commentary about how we all know he can do it, but he needs that work rate and ability to influence the game across 4 quarters.

2 games until he hits the 50 game mark. Will he be the first AFL player to reach 50 games without ever having reached 14+ disposals in an AFL game?
Would be nice to see him rack it up but the quality of possessions lately along with him showing more effort then I thought we were getting from him earlier in the season is something to at least be positive about so I'll take it.

Generally we don't have a lot of guys that go above 30 km/h. Hamill, Sholl, Jones, Keays and McAdam are usually are quickest. Soligo and Murray occasionally get up there too.
Over how long does it have to be sustained for, Hamill at one stage was really quick in the right forward pocket when the ball was heading to the boundary.

Give me 15 high quality touches over 30 shit ones every day of the week....

Yeah, that's why he fell off in the second. Personal laziness. It's not like it happened to every single one of our key forwards because we got destroyed up the ground.

Walker three touches, Thilthorpe 2, McAdam 2 in the second. When will Fogarty's effort improve their outputs?
Can't agree more, after the first quarter the disposal into the forward 50 from the likes of Smith, McHenry, Laird, Keays was comical.

Might as well get the "highlights" and dub over the Benny Hill music
