If he is going to get 9 more games this year, you would want to see that goal per game keep moving up to 2, currently 10 goals from 8 (including 4 times no goals).

17 games with say 28 goals is barely passable as a Key Forward, but given what was served up before he was dropped, salvages a poor season.

And yes, I really want to see a dominant performance at one stage.

It's extremely hard to dominate the game as a key forward in our team with some of the dross we serve up....

It is.

But we are talking about a forward who will hit that 50 game mark.

It should not be outrageous to expect at least a 4 goal game (that isn't 4 marks 4 kicks) or getting it 15+ times.

What we should do is keep looking for arbitrary markers to claim failure, irrespective of whether what you can see on field is good or not.

Boy that fourteenth handball, just don't know if I can say good work without it.

I've seen a decline in 1% last week.

Dudes cooked, drop now.

Can't agree more, after the first quarter the disposal into the forward 50 from the likes of Smith, McHenry, Laird, Keays was comical.

Might as well get the "highlights" and dub over the Benny Hill music

Yep, and it's happening for significant stretches every week. Trying to explain forward line inconsistency without it is obviously bad faith behaviour.

The mark and goal and chase down in the fourth this week, the effort in the fourth against the Eagles should discount the idea that he's fatigued out of the game.

As an aside it's worth comparing his development curve to Todd Marshall's (who is now starting to put it all together)

Fog a year younger and season less experienced, one hopes this bodes well (noting Marshall has also had the benefit of playing in a successful side for at least 2020-21)

It's hard to dominate consistently - though Tex manages to achieve it. It hasn't stopped Berg & McAdam from dominating 1 or 2 games each though. Fogarty has yet to dominate a game.

I do find it darkly entertaining that the only way Fog can get quality delivery into the forward line is to kick it himself and then sprint 50m to get it again. Only needs to do that 7 times a game and he'll beat this month's arbitrary cutoff of 14 disposals.
If he wants 14 or more possies best to park himself as close to Crouch, Keays or Laird as possible. Take advantage of all the midfield handballs

I think we've moved it to 15 FWIW

This 3 game stretch has been promising and he has looked good, but we have seen this before. I still want to see just 1 game where he influences the game for 4 quarters.

2019 - Rds 20 - 22: 32 disposals, 17 marks, 9 goals, 1 behind 10 I50's
2021 - Rds 10-12: 23 disposals,10 marks, 7 goals, 2 behinds, 7 I50's
2022 - Rds 11-14: 34 disposals, 15 marks, 8 goals, 1 behind, 9 I50's

Hopefully this is the stretch where it continues.

Nice work pulling those stats together btw.

Berg and McAdam dominating games 😲😲you obviously lower the bar for them to Fogarty
Berg kicked 4 goals against Port & Richmond. Gollant also kicked 4 against Port (I was thinking of Gollant, not McAdam). All 3 were far more dominant performances than anything Fog has achieved this year.

The younger players can do it, and have shown that they're capable of doing it - but only Tex has done it consistently.

Based on what we've seen this year (at AFL level)... Berg's best is better than Fog's best, Fog's worst is worse than Berg's worst, but Fog's current form is considerably better than Berg's current form.

Do we know where those match scores come from? They have impact over 4 qtrs , 2 year average etc. Be an interesting comparison

Berg's games were full 4-quarter games, unlike Fog who still only puts in single quarter cameos (usually the 1st Q).

Berg wasn't able to sustain his brief purple patch, and now finds himself in the SANFL. It remains to be seen whether Fog will be able to maintain (or improve on) his current form.

Berg’s disposals vs Rich by quarter: 3, 2, 3, 3
Fog’s disposals vs GC by quarter: 4, 2, 2, 3

Minuscule difference. Yes, Berg kicked more goals, but from my view Fog’s consistently presenting right now as much as Berg was during his purple patch, which is what I want to see

No forward is going to be consistently successful in our current team, particularly those learning the craft. Over the last few years Frampton, Lynch, Betts, McAdam, Himmelberg, Murphy, McHenry, Rowe, Thilthorpe, Fogarty, Gollant... have all struggled at various times, been dropped or got rid of.

Tex 2021-22 the only one capable of turning dog shit into wine

Gollant's 6 disposals against port was dominant?

Don't get me wrong - I'm definitely happy seeing a bit more consistency in Fog's game of late. He still needs to work on staying involved when the midfielders aren't delivering, but I'm definitely seeing positive signs - for the first time in a long time.
