Atleast he doesn't look like Diego Maradona.

Give him 6 months.

He will overtake Maradona.

It really is a disgrace what he has done to himself. There's nothing wrong with letting himself go a bit after retiring, but becoming mordbidly obese is going to kill him within the next 5 to 10 years if he continues to punish his heart like that.

Why is it a disgrace? It's his life and he's not affecting any of us by letting himself go. I'd be tipping there are a few people on here for which the term pot/kettle/black would apply when it came to a weight issue.

You are right that it is his life and that it affects none of us.

Are you impressed with how much he has let himself go? IMO it is disgraceful.

Compare Darren's weight to that of what Dipper, Rex, Robert Walls and others werwe carrying when they decided they needed to lose a lot of weight to prolong their lives.

Darren is in big trouble if he doesn't do something in the not so distant future.

No it actually does affect us in a way. Obesity is probably the fastest rising preventable health condition affecting modern Australia. It increases risk of diabetes and heart attack among a range of other preventable conditions. This continues to stress our already overworked hospital system, creating longer waiting lists and the need for more government funding to address the problem.

Perhaps this guy had to absolutely work his arse off to get to a playable weight every week and now that he dosen't have to do it anymore he is enjoying life.
Guaranteed to be on the next installment of Celebrity Overhaul though!!!

I hope he's not near me or any of my family or friends when he has a heart attack behind the wheel of his car. You don't seem to mind though, catta29  .

Also, like it or not, as a former top AFL player he's a bit of a role model to the rest of us on how to live our lives. I'd have a different view if he were a hermit, but I saw him on national television FFS  .

Maybe the guy hasn't got a good metabolism and really has to work hard to get the weight off. If I was him I would be doing the same thing and then when I run out of money I would try and get a gig with Jenny Craig.

I see you've failed to respond to the references to Mark Williams and Greg Phillips. So am I to take it that obesity is only a problem if you are associated with the Crows?

Interesting times..

He always struggled with the pinch test when he played, it was only a matter of time.

Of course it is, the Crows are meant to be better than Port.

Not at all, I was a huge fan of Darrens when he was playing, Mark Williams is nowhere near his weight though. Sure he could lose a few pounds but I wouldnt put him in the dangerously overweight bracket.

Comparing Mark Williams with these fatties is like comparing Neil Craig to Neil Balme.

Looks like the guys from the Rammstein film clip :D

So true. :D

Yesterday my hungover Sunday morning self was watching Channel V at a mates place when all of a sudden a group of walking beanbags come on screen.

It took us about 20 seconds to realise what was going on.

They are wearing fat suits which are still smaller than Jars.
