Re: Collingwood makes Darren Jolly offer

I would have thought the key to us getting Jolly is Seaby landing at the swans, then they would be willing to enterain a trade for Jolly. In saying that though, i wouldnt giving up more than Pick 14, if they dont want that then they can keep him!!!

Jolly would have a few suitors so wouldn't be playing funny buggers. I'd go pick 14 plus Cook or similar to get this inked. We need to get this down so we can move on other trades and stymie any possible Calrton trades regarding Sydney and Fevola.

Re: Collingwood makes Darren Jolly offer

Would Carlton chase Jolly while their ruck stocks overflow?

If Sydney wanted Fev, they could always use 14.

Pick 14 + Cook/Stanley is MORE than fair. Carlton will not take Jolly. They have too many ruck options - Kruezer, Hampson,Warnock, Cloke, Jacobs, O'Halpin...
If Hawks give Port their pick + player for Burgoyne, Jolly will be at the Pies.
But i also agree that this needs to be sorted out soon, inorder to offload Fraser by weeks end.

Re: Collingwood makes Darren Jolly offer

Yeah, that all sounds about right actually. Really want this Jolly deal worked out - hope Sydney don't intend to wait until Hawks out of Jolly race before signing. We ought to be calling their bluff a bit and shopping around our first pick for some other talent. Sydney definitely will be getting rid of Jolly now, just need to give them a jab in the arse to get a move along.

Re: Collingwood makes Darren Jolly offer

And then once Jolly is secure hopefully Sydney go hard at Fev. Sydney are no threat with or without Fev and Carlton are less a threat than they were, even though they weren't.

As long as Fev can't get to Geelong, St. Kilda, Hawthorn or the Bulldogs I'm happy.;)

Re: Collingwood makes Darren Jolly offer

14 & Dawes no worries.

Collingwood lose Pick 14 & Josh Fraser
Sydney lose Jolly

Collingwood lose Neon Leon
WCE lose Pick 7

Collingwood lose Pick 7 and Cook
Carlton get rid of Fev

My preferences... although it kills me to say we'd lose Neon. But gaining the Coleman medalist and one of the best Rucks in the league - Make it happen Pies. We have one of the youngest lists in the league and developement will continue - time to get a bit more quality top heavy.

Re: Collingwood makes Darren Jolly offer

****ing Sydney, they bent us over on Nick Davis and now they want to ****ing squeeze us on Jolly, he's 28 ffs.. we'll get 10 years out of Wood for the same price

They can have Cook or Stanley on top, that's it

You're comparing Wood to Jolly?

We need an established ruckman. Fraser is not. Wood is good enough to be a 2nd ruckman.

Trade talk: The deals as they happen

10.40am: COMPLEX three team deal in the works. Swan Amon Buchanan and Eagle Brent Staker go to Brisbane, Lion Bradd Dalzeill to West Coast and Eagles ruckman Mark Seaby ends up at Sydney.

As mentioned earlier by abs of steele, Seaby has been sured up. Now although pick 14 may not get Jolly, it means that Sydney is serious about trading him as they're already compensating for his loss. This says to me, that out of all of the trade speculations going around, Jolly is the most likely to eventuate.

My early predition, Jolly to pies for our first and third round pick, and one of our flotsam players out to secure a second or third round pick to ensure we can still draft a little.

Re: Cmon Pies throw Swans a bone.....

i reckon if the pies picked up Jolly, having an agressive ruckman who embraces the contest would be good on two fronts . 1. Dominant ruck to give 1st use to swan , pendles, and co 2nd - the development of Cam Wood.

Josh Fraser unfortunately is gone - over 10 yrs of 1st ruck will do that to you

Re: Collingwood makes Darren Jolly offer

It seems like Roos is saying pick 14 isnt enough because he isnt going to let him go. He is a tricky man:(

With a quality Ruckman and top forward, we could win a flag. The problem is that other sides see that too and don't want to trade us into that position. It has been a decade long problem and I am not sure what is the cause of such animosity to Collingwood other than Eddie being forthright. But for whatever reason, the club needs to find a way around it or we will be forever stuck in no mans land, close but never good enough, because good trading is an important ingredient, astute trading is also essential, picking up bargains here and there like clement and Medhurst.

Re: Collingwood makes Darren Jolly offer

pick 14 is fair, we need to stand firm, it's funny how roos says thats not enough and everyone on here wants to throw in dawes or wellingham, both young players with potential.
Just because they overpaid with pick 15 when he was back playing for sandringham holds no relevance here.
Pick 14, hold firm, and wait. No need to jump just because Roos opens his trap.
If we were to throw in dawes or wellers they'd have to throw in their 2nd round choice, expecially for dawes a young KPP ready to play.

Re: Collingwood makes Darren Jolly offer

I can see draft picks coming into this deal.

Pick 14 is a must and both clubs have accepted this fact. Collingwood will be looking to offload a Cook/Stanley/Cox type player, decent/average footballers who arn't getting a run. Cook is the obvious one, he has shown the most out of the 3 and his half-brother is Nick Malceski, so that is added incentive to move up there.

A fair trade would be Pick 14, 30 and Ryan Cook for Jolly and pick 38?, I don't think moving down the order 8 spots would phase too many people...

Re: Collingwood makes Darren Jolly offer

It's not MORE than fair.
Pick 14 + Wellingham/Dawes. Have to take into consideration he is contracted and we got him as a spud for pick 15.

IMHO opinion 14 alone was fair, but obviously yourself and Roosy dont agree so thats fine. Throwing in a player was more for a souvenir and good will gesture. From all reports Stanley had a decent year in the VFL, so may have been a handy pickup(yes i know not AFL standard, YET).
Im not too sure how much of Wellingham youve seen, but hes not a 'freebie' player you just throw into a deal. Dawes aswell is a decent player, just needs the oppurtunity to prove himself i guess.
I agree that Jessie White will be a gun for the Swans though.
