Re: Darwin Football Association Part 2

Will kick a hundred AGAIN if this is true although I think it is only hearsay, the season does not start proper till the 10th April, plenty of time for anyone to make a decision on where they will play but did Baldy not sign to go to Wynyard after signing at Somerset last year on the proviso that if he came back to the DFA in the not too distant future it would be back at Somerset and Lasty and the crew run a tight ship so this would not surprise me if in fact true.

Work with Hunty and spoke to him half hour after he got the text msg from Baldy stating he was going to South Burnie a few weeks ago ,( piss poor way to inform him , descent bloke Nathan ). Also a few Roo Boys where I work as well and they were like yourself under the impression that Baldy would not play against them if he come back into the Darwin comp , only for them. Time will tell I guess ?!.

Well if you work with the great "Ox" it must be true which is disappointing obviously for Wynyard and Somerset but good for the Hawks.Good bloke is Baldy and there must be more to this situation than meets the eye and yes he and his father have commenced work with Towna but Rohan simply loves footy and is very passionate about it and for him to not be available for both the NTFL and Tas Under 23 team whilst playing in the Dfa has left me gobsmacked-maybe he is carrying an injury that prevents committment at the next level ?

I'm lead to believe that securing employment was a big factor which is fair enough I guess. If he definately does suit up for the hawks I reckon a 100 goals will be a near certainty ( barring injury ).

Look no doubt , employment for young people today is vital, cannot be helped if it happens to be with a good family friend as well-he spent a fair bit of time as a kid at Wivenhoe, will kick at least twent y against Cuprona and other bottom sides if the forward 50 left open for him !

Re: Darwin Football Association Part 2

Here is my prediction what the ladder will shape up like next year

South Burnie
Ridgley
Yolla
Somerset
Natone
Queenstown
Cuprona
Yeoman

Re: Darwin Football Association Part 2

I was told at my cricket club last week that Justin Bloom,2 of the DeVries boys, Josh Townsennd, Blair Kaine and Jade Wells heading up to Natone very dissappointing if true :( Can anyone from either club comfirm this or is this just more pre-season rumours?

Re: Darwin Football Association Part 2

My boys at Langley will finish top3 and the Dogs on the bottom again

Yes mooch I agree that Somerset will be up there, but from what ive heard Yeoman are set to lose Paterson,Post,Clarke and Cross which I believe will make the going just as tough at robinland as what its going to be at the kennel. Yeoman will be fighting it out with my beloved dogs for the spoon in my opinion :footy:

Re: Darwin Football Association Part 2

Nothin to do with Darwin, but Chloe Hopes article in todays paper, last year she bagged out devonport players and now she is calling them a powerhouse team, to me a powerhouse team is one who is a consitent finals winner at least three years in a row, women who comment on football should be women who drive there husbands/boyfriends home from functions pissed (just jokin), but if she is going to comment on footy she should think before she writes.

I like the way crossy and clarke plays, where have you heard they are off to?

Re: Darwin Football Association Part 2

No Lightening Premiership this year (majority of clubs voted against it at DFA meeting last night) with season to commence on 17th April. Ray Parry the new president & Yanni Jensen umpires coach.

fairly true as arumour not sure about fact though. Will be interesting to see who turs up to the kennel on Friday night. No big recruits on the way to Heybridge, it will be more about improvement from those prepared to stay, those that choose to go leave with best wishes from the Club.If players from previous years go then they can, the club will no longer be held over a barrel in regards to ludricous match payments, bar tabs and all the other crap that has put the club in the position it is today !The only way is up and I know for a fact some of the debt has or is in the process of being paid to all Debtors, to those still on board and those with enough guts to jump on board, let them all thrive on the challenge.Every body wants to kick the Dogs while they are down bit at least they are still hangin in there which is good for the comp, we at Somerset are looking forward to locking horns with Chalky !

Re: Darwin Football Association Part 2

Always good to be part of a club working its way up from the bottom - hopefully past players/supporters/volunteers will be around next year to help get the club back on its feet.

All sounds good in theory. As long as Chalky isnt there for a the short term and a financial gain.If that isnt the case I take my hat off to him

You'd wanna have a go for a couple of years at least I would have thought - you can't achieve miracles in one year

I think that Chalky is not chasing a miracle and was very frank in what he wanted in the interview with CFC.He wants to coach at a higher level ie NTFL or Statewide when he stops playing and did not want another year simply playing at Somerset to get a Premiership and therefore be out of "coaching" for another 12 months, I do not think he would do a runner from Cuprona as some have done however the financial position they are in which is ridiculous in terms of A-games won and B-players contributing to off-field activities will be rectified anf yes if he can get money, good on him, as he is going to help raise it himself anyway.Anyway, he is focussing on the black fellas and his free trip to Alice Springs and Stowport CC at the moment !

Next year will be the 10 Year Anniversary of the 2000 Premiership team, anybody know the whereabouts of Mick Hodgetts and big Buckley from that year ?

If you are serious about there being a "clean out " at the Doggies my guess is they may stay down for a while yet as the hangers on and the odd few no hopers drift off .If the long term future of the club is the aim this is the only way to go, if they are only there for the money or the free piss get rid of them!.Done the same at the Dees ( Preston ) in the early 2000's and struggled for a while but was worth the struggle, so much easier to recruit good players and good people to your club without "dead wood " hanging around. We have have had a dream run at the Dees since our "clean out" ( 9 grand final appearences between seniors and ressies in 6 years ) and now have a great base of players who are there for the right reasons . Spent more money when we were celler dwellars than when we were premiers !!. Guessing the Devries that isn't talking about leaving the Doggies would be Damien, Nearing the twighlight of his footy but a very descent bloke .

The only "big Buckley" I can think of is Matthew Buckley. If that's the one you are after he is still having a kick with the East ulverstone ressies , they should be able to give you a contact number.

Best of luck in bringing the dogs back to life but one must remember the fall of the Myalla Tigers a few years back. Big Whish took the job back on and had a similar plan but didnt work. Whilst it is good to rid the theives of football and push to regain stability and on feild performances, if you weed out the hangers, you need to make sure you have the numbers to work around. While Myallas circumstances were a bit different to the dogs, alot of work needs to be done to defer the demise of the dogs in `10 or `11. Best of luck...
