What's happened to David Bourke? I remember a time when we had him he was considered an automatic selection, at least I thought he was. The man was tall, could take a good grab, and would take a quality tall opposition forward. I remember looking forward to his returns from injury to bolster our defence.

He was a bit thin, still is. His decision making was often questionable. Maybe that's why we let him go.

But what about now? He's a regular seconds player. He is disrespected by supporters of his own and other teams. He may be delisted.

David Bourke once showed plenty. He is the son of a VFL champion and now, it's all gone horribly wrong.

I used to cringe anytime Bourke went any further back than the centreline. Yes, his decision making was terrible and often cost us goals. He was also too lightly framed to be strong enough to play as a legitimate defender.

The only thing I am spewing about is that that AFL lifted the father/son limit to 100 games, meaning we mightn't get to see a 4th generation Bourke running around in the Tiger colours.

David 'Jughead' Bourke. What a joke. What an example he was of what's wrong with Richmond - and still is today i.e. the complete and utter overrating of players, keeping them at the club for years and, in a lot of cases, paying them 'over the odds' to boot.

The recruiting, and subsequent management of our playing list is the worst of any club in the league - which is probably just a reflection of the poor off-field talent we have.

True (at least once against the Saints). His hanger over Hird was his best mark, though.

David Bourke should have been a legend at Richmond. When he arrived at about age 18 or 19, he was a fantastic, quick backman who weighed about as much as an empty tissue box, but was as brave as his dad. He kept diving into packs and destroying his shoulders. We all thought, "Well, as soon as he puts on 15-20kgs he'll be our full-back for 15 years".

He didn't, and he wasn't.
