The sad part is it almost required that he’ll have to go somewhere else and coach for a little bit. Will feel gross even seeing him coach in different colours.

I do think even a week is a long time in footy once your 38. A lot can have changed between then and now

He’s probably go coach in Geelong. He wanted to be drafted there, has family ties there and it’s near enough to Seymour

Great motivation for lads to lift for the final three games and finish as high up the ladder as possible. Walters playing game 200 in round 23 as well.

Very sad day but glad to see him leave whilst still playing so well. Played very well on Fri night.

Great highlights package for his 350th - but one moment stood out to me. Early in his transition from Defender to midfielder there was a game against Adelaide at Adelaide oval. He did this hip shake shimmy that left his tackling opponent bamboozled. His ability to create space and time in congestion is like no other. Thanks for the wonderful career and highlights Mr Mundy - hoping we can finish very strongly for you.

Well the AFL story is now set, how far can the Dockers go for Dave?

There will be a lot of emotion from the group to be vented in the form of elite effort and drive to honour him.

Real shame for the Eagles planning to give Kennedy a send off in the Derby and lift the side for them to maybe get one last jab in for the year - it's going to be a festival of Mundy now.

Not if we sack Carr

He was almost certainly pushed unfortunately.

Not so sure about that, there was an article just last week about Mundy set to be offered a contract for next year.

Mundy said last season that if he didn't feel like he was contributing on the field then he wouldn't want to go on.

These guys review the games very closely, they know opposition teams are targeting Mundy's opponent and so does he. His work the other direction becoming less and less effective for us next year.

He wanted to be a contributor when he signed last year. We got a lot of great footy out of him this year, but the contract is for next year.

So what has happened between late June where he was keen to play on next year to now?
Strongly suspect after what happened on Friday night, and he's quite an experienced bloke - he'd have witnessed first hand that we're still a ways off it and he might know he won't have it in him once we truly do come good.

Two great players TBH

I would agree, there would be no upside to doing it now if this was club generated. The powers to be at the Dockers are smart enough to realise that he is such a revered player inside the club by the likes of Brayshaw, Serong and others that if thye pushed him it would only cause rifts in the group and coaches/club on the eve of a historic return to finals and what do you gain by doing it now. Even if they were potentially thinking about not offering him a contract next year you wouldn't do it right now as that could be done after the season is over.

Pretty confident the club would have been happy to find space for him next year given his wage demands aren’t astronomical and he’d have been well aware that his role would inevitably change as younger players develop.

It’s far more likely as others have said, he had a moment of realisation that fatigue is impacting both his ability to defend and his foot skills. For someone who’s always been in the best 22 on merit alone, I’m sure it would be almost impossible to continue if you felt that other players would have to start carrying you.

Also, he deserves a summer chilling at the beach with his kids. Not doing 200m sprints.

Super player that nobody, not even the most rabid eagles supporters, could say a bad word about.

Highly skilled, unscrupulously fair and unbelievably durable considering how much of his career he played at the coalface. Consummate professional

If you do manage to go all the way this year even I will be cheering for him when he receives a more than deserved premiership medal
