He hasn't been the same since the bye imo. I've said he needed to retire.

Let's forget all that and celebrate what's been an awesome career over the next month or so.

Opposition fan here. I'll be very sorry to see Mundy go. It seems like he's been around forever, nobody could have a bad word to say about him, and I really thought he'd go around again in 2023- even have a shot at the mythical 400.

Sad to see him go, and I was really hoping he'd hang on for the 400 - but this is perfect timing for the development of Erasmus and Johnson next season, particularly if Fyfe has a good off-season and returns to the midfield in 2023.

I think Boomer said Mundys game total was closer to 450 when you consider the travel and toll on his body.
To play and run your guts out like he has for two decades and fly every other week is just superhuman.
It's just a shame we wasted a lot of his best footy pissing about these last few years.

It’s literally the process the club follows each year to pick the captain. I hope Brayshaw is the next captain as part of the same process.

Hard to swallow. Been an integral part of Freo for so long, you just expected him to keep going....

A lot of you have been critical of his performances of late, and probably fairly so....you could definitely see a dip, but let's not forget the man is 37 and has given his all for almost 2 decades playing one of the most bone-jarring, physically demanding sports on the entire planet. And as a Victorian, shown nothing but loyalty to this club his entire time as a player. The man oozes class!

He is a deadset legend of the club, a true Freo champion and an incredibly humble and down to earth, intelligent man. Words cannot really express my own personal gratitude for the example you have set and the standard of footy you have displayed for so long. Your after the siren goal aginst Richmond and the cheesy gin on your face when you knew you'd nailed it will always go down in awesome Freo folklore! You will REALLY be missed Dave, somehow...beyond all expectations, I hope somehow the team can lift and guide you to that one final moment your career so richly deserves. I'm not expecting it, but we all wish to believe in miracles.

And I hope life after footy is kind to you Sir David, for you have been so loyal your entire career and like Pav you grew up with the club. You are a true superstar of the game, universally respected and deserving of all the plaudits about to bombast you! And lastly much love to you and your family, thanks for the incredible ride Dave, I wish you nothing but success in your life post-football - you will always be one of my favourites and I will miss you in the purple jersey. Thank you forever & beyond

Again Dave does the right thing. Apart from being a great player, scrupulously fair he has always been a great citizen and has been an ornament to our club.
His retirement is perfectly timed with must win games coming up.
Surely all the boys will now do everything in their power to send him off with a last finals appearance .

I had a job interview 10 years ago and the interviewer was also a Freo fan. He asked me who my favourite player was and I said Mundy. We bonded over what a champion Mundy was for 10 minutes and I got the job.

Favourite player then favourite player still. A privilege to have watched his career and had him at our club. Heart and soul forever.
