Sorry, my original query was about Carlton not speaking to other coaches...not specifically those interviewed.
As I had hear otherwise, and that article supports my understanding.

Sounds like it was a pretty exhaustive process. Out of all the assistants in the league Teague probably has the best CV.

Caracalla too but he looks set on Essendon/may not want to be a senior coach. Burns too perhaps.

Prick of a job, a lot of pressure, maybe we overestimate how many assistants actually want to be one.

Bolton was sacked because he wasn't performing his job at a high enough standard, during that time Teague was an assistant to Bolton, Was Teague doing his job as an assistant at a high enough standard?

There is a very strong suggestion that Bolton was not listening to his assistants.

I hope DT does well
but Should we judge him based on last 10 games of a cooked season where there is no pressure on players or the first 10 games of a new season.?
i think i'll wait till this time next year to form an opinion if it's the right move......)

He wasn’t being listened to.

Under Bolts our forward structure was nothing short of a disgrace and Teague was the forward coach. When Teague took over he completely changed the structure. Tell me he had no control over his own forward line.

Bolts was stubborn.

From the horses mouth I can categorically back this up. 2 sources (one who has worked in the coaches box) and the other close to Teague have confirmed that whilst Bolton wasn’t a bad coach or guy, he was very stubborn and definitely didn’t give his assistants enough credit. They became quite frustrated due to this.

Absolutely was. When you’re not getting listened to and your job is to support the senior coach, it makes it hard to stay patient and measured. People got frustrated with Bolton.

Teague is pretty experienced. It’s no coincidence he was able to turn around the win loss ratio pretty quickly by putting in place what he felt were the priorities the assistants were raising.

That would be something, if true would be a pretty bad place to work. I remember hearing last season at Essendon that our coaches weren't communicating as well.
That, and in his recent presser Teague mentions how Phil Walsh taught him to be "authentic" and made a big point that he's always going to coach his own way, whether it senior or assistant roles. It kind of felt to me that he may have been quietly also making reference to the fact that Bolts was trying to stifle him.

There’s s heap of pressure on the players mate. There’ll be blokes literally playing for their careers. It’s not one bad year Carlton have had its about 6 now. Two games to go and for some they’ll be delisted and playing for Vermont next year, some will be traded if they’re lucky.

Having the ability to coach is completely separate from being a good coach. I believe he can coach but have not seen anything which signifies that he is going to magically change Carlton's fortunes. Won't make finals for another year at least.
Who would've got them to finals next year?

Bolton definitely didn’t listen to people. Teague included. Bolton May still have a job if he was less stubborn. Everyone knew he was a dead man walking after failing to adapt.

How do you know? Most assistant coaches will have a new plan to try. It usually works for a bit as it is unknown by the opposition but your team knows how THEY play.

Then that one plan gets worked on and worked out. So....did the three caretaker coaches get assessed for a plan B? Compared to others?
What? What about Hardwick? How many years did he have before he came up with a plan B? I reckon he worked it out in 2017.

Questionable decision to sign Teague. Is he better than Bolton? For sure. But will he get them into the finals? No.

Which is it please? You’ve said one thing then you’ve said another. Make up your mind.
