Goodwin to give him his medal?
Maybe yeah. Carrying on like a peanut hoping to mimic the joy in a convincing enough fashion to trick himself into sleeping better at night rather than knowing deep down he didn't help his club break the drought.

I might not be over this trade after all.

I never wish injuries on anyone, and I do hope Lever comes back from this, but this is truly a case of karma. The AFC took a chance on him when no one else would, developed him into the player he is today, only for him leave us for the club that overlooked him because of his injury history, then does his knee.

Anyway, moving on.
If anything, I think it backs up why Lever went out and got the best deal possibly for himself (as salty as it makes all of us that he left for money). You're one injury away from taking a big hit in the pocket and not knowing how you might return. His locked himself into a great deal and has plenty of time to recover without having to worry about it.

Take a lesser deal both cash and $$$ and what if you don't come back or there are complications? Just look at guys like Menzel, super talented when he came onto the scenes, did x4 knees and couldn't find anyone interested in him after last season and had to settle on a 1 year deal with Geelong which probably isn't for the dollars he was after.

Thanks guy for the more decent comments here. Having lived through the trauma of the Ox, one does not wish knee injuries on any one. I suppose I am also trying to understand why Lever is any different to Scotty Thompson whom you prised off us.

A lot to do with Lever being an arrogant campaigner last season. Demanding to be the highest paid player, openly meeting with other clubs mid season whilst we're in the middle of a premiership run, as well as other little things during the season.

That knee injury couldn't have happened to a nicer bloke.

I’m actually surprised with the general response of Crows posters here. I honestly expected a lot more posters to be posting things like, “Sucked in Lever” and, “Karma’s a bitch”. So well done to all.

But you know what we’re all thinking.....some things don’t need to be said lol.

I think the difference is that the trading of future draft picks now gives us a reason to actively barrack against an opposing team.

Imagine if we had caved and paid him 850k and then this happened on top of Smith, Sloane, Crouch and Walker.

Good time to sell high

Making silly, over-the-top comments, like JJ’s contract having negative value is just dumb. All it does is cause people to ignore many quite well-reasoned comments you make.

Silly? Wow that’s just sad

His contract does have ****ing negative value and it’s barely even arguable

I’m never moved by anyone who claims (usually hysterically) to speak for “people”, and certainly not over claims that water is wet is dumb

Lol, Lever beating up on a first year player. Who would have thought it.

Hopefully Tex is fit for the return bout & we will see how Lever goes one on one with a seasoned player.
The same first year player that many on your board said was hand picked to destroy Lever.
Have your cake and eat it too though.
Hopefully Tex IS fit for the return bout but he'll have to take out his anger on Sam Frost now :drunk:

I work with a young guy who is a Dees suppprter.

He has also just had his second Knee Reconstruction surgery after doing the same knee as a 17 year old. Very similar history to Lever.

He has been told by his surgeon not to expect his knee to ever be great again. He plays Amateur footy at a decent level.

He is also upset about Lever knowing what he is going through and being a massive Dees fan.

We just had a discussion trying to name a player who has had two knee recos and been at the same standard he was at when before the second and/or improved. I can't think of one. Daniel Menzel probably the best?

Know two people that have done 2 and 3 acls and both have given up on sport, they’re both 23.

I think Patton did 2 ACLs but hasn’t set the world on fire
Yep, Anthony Morabito is a good example of a 2 ACL guy. Actually I think he ended up being a 3 ACL guy, but the results weren't pretty. Lever being a 3rd tall intercept player probably plays in his favour, as he's not expected to do the big km's, but I have serious doubts we will ever see him outplay his 2017 season.

And as much as I don't like the guy because he has a pig of a personality and a family that are even worse, I'd prefer to see us beat him on the scoreboard then see him lose his career.

You never want anyone having an ACL injury. My brother had one at 16, nearly 20 years ago now, but he was never serious about Footy.

But seeing what my work colleague is going through reminds me of how tough rehab after one is.
